Kingz and Bloc 5: Those Were The Days
"We can learn from anyone and anywhere but our minds must be receptive to taking on board new ways of doing things or sometimes of not being in step with the crowd."
see www.manakaucityafc.com Kevin fallon's blog: Week 8: 27/03
I grew up in Gisborne during the hey day of The Rothermans Soccer league when Kevin Fallon was coach and dont remember that at all. I was also with the City second team and trained with the first team and Yes he could blow his top but over the years I have had lots of coaches and they all have had moments so it wasnt just him at all.
No worries, his second stint was well after I was there. I was playing in Wellington by then
Hello all, thought I'd share some visits from Northern Spirit this week - 3 clips up on the channel, enjoy :)

Still got all my Kingz gear, may even have a video tape of goals of the year from one of the seasons tucked away somewhere
Brent Fisher and Mark Beldham! Nice goals.
Evening all - this week I was asked for South Melbourne, so four clips up on the channel - enjoy :)

Origin
Old English smæc 'flavour, smell', of Germanic origin; related to Dutch smaak and German Geschmack.
well... of course... bit of a red face here, should've known that! Smack your lips etc etc... seems so obvious now...
lets just say this was my "Maldini Moment" and move on :)
Morning all :)
So, after the All Whites' "glory" in wining the Oceania final last week, I figured I'd continue my collection of cheesy themes and go for Kingz matches v Glory - six new clips up on the channel, including these 2 belters:
Visit my Football Kingz channel:
Sometimes, when I've had a bad day, I will still find myself singing:
Andy Bluhm,
Andy Bluhm,
Fudge off Andy Bluhm.
You're a useless cod,
And a waste of space
Fudge off Andy Bluhm!
Hi all, no theme this week, just 6 matches from Season 1 including these two crackers:
What a strike from Harry!
We love you Harry, because you've got grey hair
We love you Harry, because you're everywhere
We love you Harry, you're Kiwi through and through....
Hi all, theme this week is "monumental Kingz implosions", including these two gems!

Haha Brandon - one of my better ones!
Actual chant;

Andy, Andy Bluhm
You're fudgeing shark
So fudge off home
Andy, Andy Bluhm
I always had fond, yet guilty, memories of your "how do you spell referee?"

Great stuff - losing 3-0 to Brisbane, send on Plodder Christie for Paco Almendra. That right there folks, that's the bottom of the barrel being scraped.
Morning all, some Kingz giggles from Season 2 - 8 new clips, including these 3: an iconic preseason fixture, good Rufer goal v Brisbane, and a marauding Vicelich in Canberra. Enjoy...

Just shows you - my memory always had it that the car door came on at half time, and Mr X (not named for potentially career damaging purposes!) just wandered on the pitch nonchalantly. How wrong was I!
In that Chile match, who was the goalie for the Kingz in the 2nd half? And was the strip the Kingz were wearing a one-off? Or is it the S2 strip, but without all the fancy pants art work on it?
And that goal scored by Brisbane, what a cheeky little lob that was - it wouldn't come off again for him in a million years if he tried it again!
I remember this because after training Mark Burton told me he wanted to leave and hated Fallon.
Playing devil's advocate - Burton was great in his first season (absolutely great), but after he signed his 3-year contract (I think that's what it was), he played like a complete wanker. His magic touch was gone. By the time Fallon took over the team was on a major downhill slide, maybe Big Kev was exasperated at what he perceived as good players playing like muppets?
dam man, how does one come across all these clips of old football kingz matches. I thank whoever took the time and put all these clips up. I am 22 now but i remember going to my first kingz game as a 7 or 8 year old in their 2nd season and for years after the kingz went defunct i searched the internet for any old clips of matches or whatever and could never find them, so thankyou so much for restoring this little bit of nz football history on the internet i thank you.
btw do u have any more of the clips from season 4 or any from season 3? cheers
Car door on the pitch, unbelievable!
Please someone recount this story... how? why?
I'm not sure anyone ever really knew.
A few people tried to bring car doors in at the first game of the actual season after that but security weren't keen.

I think I was at that game. I remember it being the most bizarre thing. Other than some of the defending and kits.
Re-watching the clip, you can see a guy running off who's just dropped it there... I wonder who it was? And why?
Such a bizarre thing, how'd he even come up with that
what happened to the idea producing a football kingz documentary? why didn't it end up coming together, I am willing to contribute in any way I can if the project gets underway.
His name was Rob... he was an interesting chap...
Evening all - as the Olympics get underway, thought it might be worth revisiting Kingz matches v Sydney Olympic, including these three...

But that was 30 years ago
When they used to have a show...
Morning all, I found a match from Season 3... I only recorded it because my old Uni flatmate made his debut for Northern Spirit that night, but it just happened to be the same game as Goutzi's famous goal!
So, aside from the result and the dire capitulation, enjoy :)
One of the best goals ever!
How good was that cross from Fat Andy to Urlovic? Only bettered by Urlo throwing his shirt up in the air, and then catching it again in full-stride. You wouldn't see a Nix player with that skill.....
Shame the rest of his game was pretty iffy
His name was Rob... he was an interesting chap...
The funniest bit was before the bit that is captured in the footage.
He entered at half way on the Eastern Stand side and was running with the top frame of the door on his shoulder and his arm "out the window" and holding it with his hand.
It looked like he was
"Cruising down the freeway,
In the hot, hot sun..."
How Bizarre!
I'd love to know how he got the door into the ground in the first place.....I'm sure he told me, but I was probably well on my way......it's not as if you can just hide it down your jeans
Evening all, just added couple of matches from Season 1 - two pleasing victories, both featuring Aaron Silva in scoring form... enjoy!
Check out the channel: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCMq7HmbTZnVg4obx...
The scenes on the hill behind the goal after Silva's 2nd goal against Brisbane! What an atmosphere!
Oh, & Lammers doing what he did best...
Do you guys think the Kingz were wise to move to Mt Smart?
Costs wise it was probably cheaper, and certainly better access wise......but on the other hand the cameras at NHS pointed towards the main stand, making the crowd look bigger (cameras at Mt Smart point at the other side where no one sat), so the perception could have been that no one attended Mt Smart (until that perception became reality, when no one actually did attend.....)
And Wynton singing Stand Up properly!! You'd wonder, looking at the support they had, how on earth they didn't survive.
