Jake Theron on the move again...Petone this time
Central League
2-1 to Petone I hear
Yes, it was 2:1 to to Petone. Wests (especially in the 2nd half) had a few young OLE players on the field. Doubt they will play much during the regular season.
The rumour is they are going to sign a striker and a midfielder from Auckland , but cannot remember their names, sorry. Also, they are losing Sean Morris, who played for them last season (and for Hawkes Bay in ASBP).. He is going to Auckland City to play for them in the O-league.
Tyler Lissette?
Cole Peverley to Miramar...they will have a strong squad again
And a hefty disciplinary bill at seasons end no doubt
Does anybody know how the clubs are stacking up this season?

Heard Tom Biss has gone to Wairarapa
Agree, think Olympic and Miramar will be the pace setters. Wairarapa will be strong if Keinzley can pull them together as a group. Petone, Wests, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt haven't really settled on starting lineups from what I've seen but aren't looking too bad. Haven't seen anything of Napier or Palmy Marist.
At a guess I would pick:
Miramar
Olympic
Wairarapa
Petone
Palmy Marist
Napier
Upper Hutt
Lower Hutt
Wests
Tawa
I would think Wests would do better than that. Hard not to see Miramar winning it.

swap Wests with Petone
swap Wests with Petone
I doubt Petone will be that far down the table. Wests probably were too low on my list but it depends if they play the youngsters again or if they go for more experience. I haven't seen them play yet this preseason so have nothing to base them on.
Have UH done any recruiting over the offseason?
In that case yea, they should definitely be at least 3 places higher.
Coey Turipa signed with Lower Hutt

Didn't Upper Hutt lose to Welly United this pre season?
Didn't Upper Hutt lose to Welly United this pre season?
Pn Marist seem to be struggling in pre season. Best team on paper that they could hope from players available in the region, but players taking awhile to gel.
Huge task first up against Olympic though.
According to City Rovers website, Chris Greatholder(HB united coach) is playing. also Andy Bevin is named in the squad. he must be back from college in the states
Upper Hutt have signed a Scottish bloke. First run last night. I did not see much but he scored a good goal and looked pretty useful.

Yeah 1-0 last week but as with all pre season stuff, don't read too much into it.
So no more games on Sunday or the late Olympic game? Bit of a shame, I quite enjoyed watching them
Lots of players resting at Miramar then...

This weekends results will have no impact on the season outcome.
Well that's wildly untrue.
They're playing for competition points after all aren't they?
If any team is above another by the points they gained this weekend, then this weekend has had an impact - same as any weekend.

Personally I think this year is going to be a good competition with quite a few of the teams capable of taking points off the supposedly "Big Two", as was the case last year. And for the midtable battle, the Napier v UH and LH v Wests games could mean the difference in finishing 4th or 9th.
