I think while Olympic appear to have been tripped up on this, could we make take the discussion aroudn the rule to Capital Football Governance thread to continue the discussion. Rather keep this thread for the upcoming Palmerston North Marist v North Wellington game. https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-...
Cap Prem 2020
ok cool.
One thing that is needed for the rule is a managed approach from the club. Maybe make Alex aware of that. It can't 'trip you up' if you look at the CF stats.
And the rule for Cup comp is that they can only play in one - and it has been like that for about five years after some teams were playing the same squad in both.
ok but with your quote below - you don't think the % rule has an effect on drop downs in the big picture?
"I can see how it would be abused but I think limiting it to 3 mitigates the unfairness of it enough that the 12 game rule has no real effect but to trip people up and lose points."

this is more important than a one sided playoff :)

I think it definitely has an effect, however, I also think the rule could be vastly improved to allow for more flexibility in clubs while still preventing the abuse of the ability to drop players down.
Best I can do is this https://www.yellowfever.co.nz/categories/regional-...
Funny enough just above what I posted is the discussion happening last time.
Feverish, still prefer not to flood this thread with rule discussion but you are correct the play off stuff will probably happen in the Central League thread.
So you agree PNM will romp in?
North Wellington win promotion to the central league, so Olympic safe from relegation.

- Whilst I hadn't seen them pre-season. based on the chatter going around I wasn't expecting that Wanui result. They've got Petone next week which may help get an indication of wether it was just a one off bad day or where they are really at in comparison to the other tipped contenders.
- Olympic & Miramar as expected & may struggle not to be in bottom 4, but will always be strengthend later in the season when required by the ability to have first teamers dropping down to help. If it transpire Petone are going for the title I'm sure they'd like it sewn up before facing Olympic on the last day.
- KCU & Vic Uni as expected & may make up the bottom 4 with Oly/Mar.
- Had Tawa down as a win v Wests but expect these 2 to be in the middle positions at end of season
- Petone play some good football & I have them as favourites for the league. From what I've seen they create a lot of chances. A concern may be the conversion rate into goals isnt as high as it needs to be which can be costly in those tight games where things aren't going all your way.
From what I heard Wainui were in it. Wainui scored in the 56 before Upper Hutt scored to equal in the 67. They then took the lead in the 82 before the blow out of two more goals in extra time (90+).
So seems like a case of heads down after losing the lead and leaking more. They'll have to learn from that if they want to be up the top of the league come seasons end.
I caught the second half of Wainui v Upper hutt game. Upper hutt wanted it more and it showed.
Both sides have class players but did notice a few missing from pre season games. Were both at full strength or players still to come in?
Round 2, 6th April:
Miramar def Island Bay 3 - 2
Wainuiomata def Petone 2 - 1
KCU def. Wests 2 - 1
Upper Hutt def. Tawa 2 - 1
Victoria Uni. def Olympic 2 - 1
All very close games yesterday. Table topping Upper Hutt have league favourite's Petone away next week but will be without the services of Centreback Hamish Price, who received a Red Card in yesterday's game against Tawa.
Watched Petone get out played by a more determined Wainui side. It shouldve have been 3 or 4 before the half.
1 of the English imports is out with a badly sprained ankle and also there top goal scorer is still out with an on going knee injury.
Kapiti is a surpise beating Wests.
Tawa were abit unlucky i heard.
Petone vs Upper hutt where il be heading nxt week!
have Wests morphed into having Black as their shirt colour?
Yes. It's black with red pinstripes for almost every team in the club now.

there is only one black team in town

Racist
I think the conspiracists might suggest Olé has taken over the club so much they've just gone and changed their colours.
The original Western Suburbs played in blue and yellow

Will take that as fact
They'll go back to blue and yellow next #oleswedishconspiracy.
Ikea Ole Western/Eastern Suburbs United
If endeavour park clubrooms start selling meatballs, I'm in.
I see that the Ole Turnips had a 4 to 1 win over Oylmpic
Petone vs Upper hutt where il be heading nxt week!
Any Report?
It was a very high tempo game, both sides had their chances. I think Petone are in need of a decent striker.
Jock is a great signing for Upper Hutt, he still has it!! coach foster is doing well.
looking foward to easter weekend! Can Upper hutt continue the run of form?
There are a few good strikers from round the league that could make the switch from what ive seen, Petone to scout locally?
Looks like upper hutt couldnt continue their rich run of form unfortunately
Watched Upper Hutt play Miramar at Upper Hutt yesterday. An end to end game with lots of drama including a Red Card to a Miramar player for deliberate handball and a disallowed goal to Upper Hutt, both late in the 2nd Half. Final result was a 4 - 4 Draw after Miramar led 2 - 0 at Half Time.
I Was over at Sunny Richard Prowse to watch Wainui take on the greeks!!
Talk about goal fest!! great game with quality attacking plays from both teams.
Wainui will score plenty of goals with those English lads up top, but I can see the defence costing them.
Didn't see it but seems KCU conceded the same amount of goals as they got red cards : 3 !
Heard a whisper Petone have played the whole season with an unregistered/wrongly registered player. Could lose all of their points.
Can anyone confirm this? If true they will turn into the Leeds United of the Cap Prem, just can't get out of it.

Be incredible stupid if they have done that on purpose.
