Subbed out in the 58th minute, as Vitoria trail 0-2. Vitoria go on to win 3-2
Tyler Boyd - USA (Nashville SC | USA)
Wow, 3 goals in half an hour?? Didn't see that coming!
On the bench as Vitoria host Boyd’s former club Tondela.
Has come on in the 70th minute
Finishes 1-0 to Vitoria, same score as when Boyd came on.
Vitoria lose 3-2 to Portimonense.
Boyd not in match day squad.
On the bench as Vitoria host Vitoria Setubal.
25+ minutes for Boyd and heartbreak for Vitoria with Setubal equalizing in the 91st minute courtesy of a cracking volley.
Highlights here - Boyd in white wearing the #23 shirt.
Subbed on at 78 mins against Maritimo when score was 2-0.
Vitoria go on to win 3-1.
I note Awer Mabil scored on debut for Socceroos this morning, in 4-0 win over Kuwait.

Just his career is a useful, or useless yardstick to Boyd's.

Both age 23, both had 3 A League seasons. Both played in Portuguese top flight last season (Mabil 26 games & 2 goals, Boyd 27 games & 5 goals).
Unfortunately for Mabil his team Pacos de Ferreira were relegated, so he's moved back to Denmark where he had played previously.
Hope Arnie does well with the Socceroos. To me he's always been a good friend of NZ football.
Scores a goal in a 7-0 rout of Valenciano (from CDP division or regional Portuguese 3rd tier) in Taco de Portugal.
Gets a start as Vitoria host top of the table Sporting Braga.
Is 1-1 within 20 minutes and stays that way.
Boyd subbed after 77 mins.
Match highlights. Boyd number 23. Crowd just over 23,000. So I had it well & truly wrong that Vitoria av crowds were below 10,000.

Pre match at Vitoria looks fun.
Yes to the smoke.
Has missed the last 2 Games due to injury.
Vitoria beat Santa Clara 2-0 to lie in 7th.
Still missing as Vitoria beat Uniao Madeira (from Portuguese 3rd tier) 2-0 in Taca de Portugal.
Still no Boyd as Vitoria travel to Chaves in Primeira Liga, and win 1-0..
Vitoria beat Rio Ave 3-2 but still no Boyd.
Boyd still absent as 5th placed Vitoria draw 1-1 verus Desportivo Aves.

As for his international future, Boyd knows that success in Portugal could possibly present himself with a choice as he holds valid passports to two nations. He has played internationally for New Zealand at the youth level as well as for its senior team in friendlies. He is quick to point out that he is not cap-tied to New Zealand and that the door could be open to the United States, a country he feels equally loyal.
“It's tricky. It's kind of like choosing between your mother and your father, which is impossible” Boyd said with a chuckle. “I actually have spent 10 years in each country before moving to Portugal. Every offseason I go back to America for at least two weeks. I still have a lot of friends and family over there and I love it. I spend half my offseason in New Zealand and half in America. I have a parent from each country and I feel loyalty to each country. I'd be proud to represent either. At this stage I've only played non-competitive games for New Zealand. It's still a possibility for either nation. The U.S. team is looking to rebuild and qualify - that is an interesting process. The same goes to New Zealand.”
Nice article..always liked his play.
Why does he keep getting not selected for the All Whites? He thoroughly deserves to and we might lose him as a result of All Whites managers fudgeing around.

Is he not just standing himself down for his club career?

Yipe he's been continously unavailable/not committed to NZ.
Perhaps he knew all along he was not cap tied to the AWs, and was backing himself to possibly play for Team USA.
I like many others, thought that would be a pipe dream, given the much larger depth of players that the States have.
But to be fair to Boyd, his career has seriously progressed the last 12 months. He would now be a big loss to the AWs, and could well be a contender for the US. As he mentions they are rebuilding after their 2018 WC qualification disaster, so he could be on their radar now.
Hopefully his old mate Ryan Thomas is in his ear.
Maybe he's even waiting to see what pool ball Oceania draw, in the Confed playoffs, re the WC qualification path for 2022. Asia or CONCACAF I'll stay with NZ, CONMEBOL maybe I'll try wait on a USA callup.
let's just cut to the chase
Tyler is just a slimey self righteous prick whom is always looking after number one
And always will

Wow!
Thats an outrageous comment.! Who the hell do you think you are making comments like that.?
Boyd is a dual national who has every right in the world to select whatever pathway he wants. Why would he not want to try and play for the USA? Unless you have been living under a rock you might have noticed that NZF is a complete shambles. There is NO international program. The AW's only play a couple of meaningful games every four years.
Why do you criticise a young player for having ambition, for trying to make it to the highest level possible? Boyd has got where he is today because he has been mentally tough enough and has worked his arse off.
Your comments are a good example of tall poppy syndrome. Its people like you that make me pleased I left New Zealand
It would be no different to Winston Reid jumping from Denmark, to the AWS really.
Admittedly Reid had never played for the Danish national men's side (just international under age stuff), but Boyd has only played a few friendlies for the AWs.
However all Reid's serious football development had been done in Denmark, to that time. I'm sure the Danish FA had invested a few Euros in him.
One man's freedom fighter, is another man's terrorist and all that.

He's AucklandPhoenix
Yeah he said that he felt equally loyal to both countries, so who can blame him? Lived in the USA until he was 10, got a parent from each country, he’s got reason to feel conflicted.
If he does choose USA though then he’ll be behind Pulisić on the right wing for his entire career. If he stays with NZ, i’d want him to take Kosta’s spot
Unless he makes a move to the MLS, I wouldn't worry too much about the USA calling him up.
I wonder why we didn't think of this before - that the reason he was unavailable for the AWs was that he was hoping to get on Team USA's radar. Can't blame him, but let's put to bed the rumour that he's being unfairly overlooked by the AWs.
Makes his injury return with 15 mins off the bench, as Vitoria beat Boavista in Taca de Portugal.
Round of 16.
Dodo with winner at 49 mins.
sign him up

A few of us have said it before. I think he's always had his eyes on that team and as others have said, seems to look after himself. Can't agree that he's well grounded as the article makes out, I'm sure we all remember his behaviour while at the Nix.

Not sure I get all the ongoing anti-Boyd sentiment from some people on this forum. He's now several years older than when he was with us, is hopefully a bit wiser, and has made some very mature footballing decisions to get himself into a decent European league. Let's not keep hitting him with a hammer because he might have acted a bit immaturely a few years back.
I've been a bit annoyed in the past that he hasn't been available for the AWs.
That annoyance will probably be even greater, if he continues to be unavailable for important competitive games in the last 2 years of this WC cycle, ie OFC Nations Cup in early 2020 onwards.
Be even worst if he is somehow lost to the USA.
But really that's mostly now because he seems to be a much improved player from when he was last in an AWs shirt. The quality of his crossing now looks very very handy. Be great to see him delivering in a few to the Woodsman.
So from a selfish point of view, he'd now be a big big loss to our shallow talent pool.
However he can really what do whatever he wants. He's had to do it the hard way in Portugal. Battling away for a few seasons in the 2nd Div, learning a new language and culture, away from friends, family and Declan.
Plus he himself states, he feels as much an American, as he feels a Kiwi.
Just more heavy disappointment if he never wears an AWs shirt again, rather than any Judas accusations.
Wasn't as devout a fan back in 2014/15, what did he do?

Many people here have very short memories about our Tyler and his shades of grey
he would be like a rat up a drain pipe if he thought we were going to a World Cup
But until that is guarnenteed he knows that greater riches and fame exist in a remote chance of playing for the USA
By sitting with his bum cheek right on the edge of the picket fence
If I was the all whites coach I would tell him we only want people whom are 100 per cent committed
So go fudge yourselves and flash your flash car keys and sunglasses in the security tray as you travel in cattle class
