According to the NBR today, 30 August, beIN will be launching a standalone service.

"When will it launch (and bear in mind that, as EPL fans are keenly aware, we're going into the fourth week of the 2016/2017 season)?

“In a few weeks,’’ Mr Woods [beIN Media Group Australia & New Zealand managing director]  says.

What’s the hold up?

The beIN boss says there’s no technical issue; it’s just that beIN’s new streaming platform was not finished in time for the season kick-off, and has yet to be finished."

And further.

"Soccer fans will be able to sign up with beIN directly, no Sky TV account required, he says.

So why has Sky said otherwise? “It was a genuine case of miscommunication. There was no malice,” Mr Woods says.

“If you contact Sky again, you’ll find they’ve changed their story. (NBR did but has yet to hear back.)"

I can't see Champions League games on Sky's online guide. Anyone know if this will be on Sky or on beIN? I have access to a skygo log in so fingers crossed for the former.

nope not on ESPN - hasn't been for a year already.

Champions League will be on SKY Sport and on beIN 2 - hopefully not the same games!

Hey I've keeping an eye on the broadcasting going ons in both NZ and Aus.

Bein connect still isn't available to most Foxtel subscribers in Australia as well.

This is from the Foxtel guide. Bein 2 is split out to both New Zealand and Australia. So it looks like PSV v Atletico on Wednesday morning and Real Madrid v Sporting on Thursday. I'm not sure about Sky.

Sky still haven't added team names to their TV guide block for the Champions League.

Arsenal game again ruined by the sodding "goal rush" feature this morning. Basically every 2 minutes it cut to another game to show not just goals, but misses, saves, yellow cards and general incidents. Really disruptive to the game you are actually watching and ruins the other games for people who may be recording more than 1 to watch. At one point they cut to show a Spurs goal and kept showing it for 6 or 7 replays of different angles. Exactly the thing a lot of people watching an Arsenal want to see instead of their game.

I don't tend to get up in the middle of the night to watch live and usually record and watch in the morning when I get up, so kickoff times don't usually bother me. But now for a better viewing experience I find myself longing for my team to be playing on weird days or at weird times when there are no other games happening.

Do they choose only a specific game to have that feature? I watched Spurs play and there was none of the 'Goal Rush' stuff at all, just the game....and it was one of 6 games that kicked off at the same time.

I don't know, I didn't realise it wasn't happening in the other games too. Both weeks it was the game on the main Bein 1 channel so I can only think that perhaps that means it was the "main" or "feature" game or something. I feel like I watched more of all the other games than the one I was watching yesterday.

I could probably live with the commentators giving score updates or scores across the bottom of the screen if they really had to. Or even showing a wonder goal in an injury stoppage or something. But surely no one needs or wants to see all 8 shots Stewart Downing puts into the crowd or 5 minutes of Mark Hughes arguing and getting sent to the stands if they are watching a different game.

Seems that they pick a "main feature" and that game gets the treatment.

Agree it is absolute rubbish AJC, was the height of frustration.

If they have to do it, why isn't the "goal rush" an insert in the main game screen? Instead it's the other way round, so if you're trying to ignore it and watch the main game, you can hardly see what is going on, the screen is tiny, and the whole look and feel make it very difficult to watch, it really feels like you're entirely missing the game.

This sums it up. I'm on the edge of my seat, willing us to get a late winner, and I'm being interrupted with frankly rubbish. They even cut away to try and dress up the "narrative" of some other game with 'highlights' that aren't even goals or anything. And I've noticed they cut to live penalties etc.

I can see why this might be attractive to a neutral, totally, but It feels like that should be a whole additional channel for people who want it, not something instead of a straight live game.

There was one moment they even cut to another game while we had the ball in Southampton's penalty area.

Why not just show all of the first half stuff at half time? Then those who want to see it all can and those who want to avoid it to watch other games later can turn it off for 10 minutes if watching live or fast forward it if recorded.

...or have a separate channel like NFL Redzone if you care about all the games playing, not just your own team.

Yeah that's a good idea too. I can see how a neutral would enjoy effectively following 6 games in the time it takes for 1 game, but not many fans trying to watch their team would want all that.

Lol..I wasn't impressed with having to wait till 8pm Sunday to watch Boro v CP "live"..or the 5 minute cut out to rubbish old clips after naming the teams...and less the result.  Thankfully I knew we were toast part way thru second half so checked result on FB.

I hear what you're saying but just in contrast I quite enjoyed the goal rush nonsense.

The Arsenal game was so appalling it was nice to watch something better every few minutes.

a downside of the NBCsports coverage is they show tedious overlays; on screen banner adverts and livescore updates of other games.

Extremely tedious to see what we have lost with plp disappearing.

That backs up the point that it's good for the neutral (that's fair right? Pretty sure I've seen you previously say you don't support any PL team) who gets to follow 6 games over 90 minutes, but awful for the fan trying to watch their team.

On a slightly related note, Sky's guide still does not list the teams for the CL games they are showing tomorrow and Thursday. Guess they are still "waiting for the schedule" like with the Euros.

On Thursday it has Spurs v Monaco, Brugge v Leicester and Real Madrid v Sporting.

On Friday there  is Feyenoord v Utd.

just re the above issue with goal rush - if watching live isn't too much of a factor I believe the replays of the featured game don't have the goal rush stuff going on - that's only for the live broadcast.

personally I am a bit torn about it - I can see why it would be annoying and I can also see why it would be handy.

Maybe some social media pressure to beIN about limiting it to just goals and not other highlights?

Yeah my Dad suggested trying the replay instead. I thought it would still be the same coverage so wouldn't make any difference so it's worth a try. Would still like to be able to watch by about 8.30/9am and not wait all day so may try it next time if there's an early enough replay.

Vein has no control over what gets shown on goal rush, they can just choose whether to screen the goal rush feed or the non goal rush feed.

I think they should show the non goal rush feed in bein 1, then maybe put the goal rush feed on their online platform (when/if it launches) or have it on one of the "sky go only" channels

That site is live again. Look- i think if you're wanting to look at a dodgy, pay service, then look into Kodi, Ruyaxl, and the fullmatchesandshows plugin is my advice, pending bein's arrival. - that has you covered for all live sports (100s of channels, in HD) and catchup via Ruya or fullmatchesandshows.

Any one off purchase won't cover long term access to streams, which do cost someone, somewhere along the way, money to host.

After finding the PL coverage great so far, I was thoroughly disappointed with the CL coverage of the last 2 days.

They have 4 sky sport channels, 4 Bein channels and numerous pop ups but can only play 3 live games? Then the replays at say 10am are of the games we just watched live?!

Some of the matches weren't replayed till 4 or 6pm.

In the Man City match there was no scoreboard and timepiece in the corner of the screen.

And the commentary was out of sync and a full couple of seconds behind the play, youd see Aguero shoot wide and the ball bounce off the crowd then the commentator would yell "AGUUUEERROOO"

Hmm, I found it great and didn't have those issues, although maybe because the Arsenal game was on the main channel? Didn't even have the goal rush so was actually able to watch the match properly. Must admit my heart sank when I turned it on and they were in the Bein studio with all the various screens etc and assumed we were in for another 90 minutes of goal rush every 30 seconds.

I just don't get why they don't use the Bein channels on Skygo when there are games to be shown? Has anyone tuned in and watched something on either of those two channels?

Anyone else feel like we've got the budget version of Bein Sports while watching the buildups and highlights and seeing other countries get up to 8 channels of football.  I feel like I've got BETA when all my mates have got VHS.
