Nighty Nightz
So Nightz, when do we start the clock for you? You say when and we'll be all go. You want a piece of this too nufc? C'mon, let me see the fibre of your fabric lads.
It could well be for the Football United Tour only - I don't have that level of detail but it could well marry in with this anti alcohol sponsorship as it's not 'in season'. I heard the brand and vendor and that it was all hush hush. Not so hush hush as they would like.
All sponsorship deals to do with the Nix weather for League games or any other games need to be approved by FFA.
Get ready to disappear for a month.
so you saying the booze advertising ban is still in place?
It seems the answer is 'no'
Junior - to answer your question from ages ago, I would have no issue with tobacco advertising either, personally speaking. I remember when it was still legal and I didn't smoke then and I don't now.
I guess some are more easily influenced but I'm not sure completely sanitising football with bans on alcohol, gambling etc is really a good idea. Too many restrictions and rules are just a turn off. Again, just my opinion.

this is probably the Best Thread in the World!
There was one better a few years back on a Watford football forum but this one is pretty good. 2002 it was.
The longest thread ever? | |
Football message board hepatitis claim goes international A Watford FC message board is causing an internet sensation thanks to a fan claiming her boyfriend gave her hepatitis. The poster, who calls herself Bimbo83 and claims to be 19, says 'Brian' infected her after cheating on a holiday to Greece. She says she wants to vent her anger on Rivals.net because he is a regular on it. He has posted a message denying her claims. It's unclear if the argument is legitimate or a hoax. Hundreds of messages have flooded in from as far afield as Dallas, Sydney and Barcelona, as well as from Watford fans and supporters of other British clubs. In her original posting, Bimbo83 said: "I would like to tell you lot about Brian the Watford fan. I have been going out with him for three years and he has been cheating on me and I found out last week that he has given me hepatitis after his holiday in Greece. I know he spends a lot of time on here. Some of you will know him." Brian's response says: "Sarah you are just a bitter and twisted little bit** with nothing better to do than slag me off on here. Have you ever thought that it might have been you I caught hepatitis from - not the other way around? Seems you did sleep your way round the whole of town while I was away (and don't try to deny it because I know you did)." One posting offers to beat Brian up at half-time if Bimbo83 streaks at the club's home game against Millwall. It adds, "Not binding if you're a minger. Or have orange hair". Other messages include ideas for chants about the argument. One contributor says: "I hope it's true and not a scam. I would feel violated if it was a fabrication. I'm really looking forward to the Watford game now, but I'm reluctant to bring the kids as I don't want to field 'awkward' questions on the way home when they hear the chants." Rivals.net were not immediately available for comment. Story filed: 15:54 Wednesday 24th July 2002 |
Sorry if it distracted from the sponsohip thread. But like a good beer, the thread was legendary. I believe near 5,000 posts were made.

So basically the nix dont have a new sponsor, but the tour does.
So who gets the sponsorship money - does it go to an independent trust which has been set up to run this tour. And if said trust makes a profit then who are the directors and benefactors of said money. Its at this point in time I assume it goes to Gareth morgan and co, not Welnix as it would then go against the FFA rules.
So that means technically, this this tour has nothing to do with the NIX pre season. Instead its simply a tournament being held here that we (nix) have agreed to attend... meaning it does not need to be sanctioned.
Smart.
There must be another David Dome that's been doing all the running about not associated with the Phoenix then.
Why are you still here?
2 days of debate. Are Independent Liquor a Nix sponsor or are they not.
Independent Liquor own the Carlsberg brand in NZ...
Nightz you lost but since you so blindly seem to think you are right, I am happy to go with a mods decision (take 2 or 3 of them if you like) on this and let them enforce a banstick to remove any bias. Care to take that up or do you want to chicken out again?
You still trying to be a bully JV!
I made the bet with you, you accepted, nothing to do with the mods or anyone else.
You stated the Phoenix had a new sponsor on board, a famous beer brand.
That's not so, check their website if you don't believe me.
You've clearly lost so bye bye.
See you back in a month
ASAHi to you all
Bully? Don't make me laugh boy. you can't honour a bet as you seem to be the only one that does not think that Carlsberg is a sponsor. Must have been a phantom press release that everyone was talking about yesterday.
If people can't handle losing a bet, why make one, no one forced you to
Carlsberg are on board as I have said. I have not lost.

Think it's clear JV who lost and it isn't you.
Hmmmm I see a Tui ad for this season coming, "Carlsburg, Phoenix sponsor?" I just hope the players dont run out tanked at the double header. Shame Gazza isn't coming, he'd be at home with this.
Carlsburg at the home of TW ?
nightz please grow up. Thanks.
I've aged another 3 years over listening to a child talk smack and then lie. It's like having my own kids at home again. 'Yeah dad I promise' 'aw dad I never said that. I don't wanna do that'

I was thinking more George Clooney... Extra salt n pepa for effect
Now that was funny!
JV
Fact: Carlsberg are NOT a sponsor of the Wellington Phoenix
I'll take the clubs word for it, not your warped mind.
Bye Bye
It's all a matter of semantics, you both think you've won - and you both have a case.
Please just let it go its bloody annoying.
I've offered to let the mods mediate. Nightz is scared.
How about you split the punishment in half.
That way neither or you lose... and all of us win : )
Sure. I don't mind taking 2 weeks off if he wants to take 6 weeks off? Again. I'm not being the difficult one (but definitely annoying) and offering many solutions that keep getting rebuffed cause he is scared.
Although Jeff was well ahead in mentioning a Brewery was involved with the Nix...in some form.
