Good game, and I will say that the atmosphere at Selhurst is UNBELIEVABLE. Possibly some of the loudest I've heard. Well worth getting to if you have the chance.
Anyway, the important stuff. First half was pretty even, second half was pretty much all Leicester. Wood hardly got a look in in the first half, put one over that he should have done better with, and absolutely let rip a free kick from about 30 out. Looked like it was on target, got a slight deflection and dipped over. Hell of a ping. Aside from that, usually found himself to have a couple of men on him, was pretty well marked.
Second half was all Leicester, someone (Dyer?) missed a sitter. Nugent came on and I think he and Wood play far better combo's that Wood and Schlupp (who looked middling). Wood had a better second half - if he plays with someone on his wave length his little flicks and touches are deft and well placed, just needs others to read them. His goal was well taken. Defensive blunder outside the 18, Wood had a bit of work to do and hit it home powerfully from a tight-ish angle.
Leicester play a lot of long ball, suits Wood, though given his size he's probably not as dominant as you'd expect. Schmeichel can kick the living shit out of it.

Huge game tomorrow morning vs. Watford (which seems to have half of the Latin world 'loaned' to them) - basically if they don't win Leicester are fecked for another year. Seems Wood is so heavily marked these days he can hardly move. If Leicester win and Bolton lose then the stars align to the play-offs

There were some heated debates about this a while back when I said that I didn't think he'd ever be anything more than a decent Championship player. I think he simply has too many limitations in his game to succeed at higher levels of the game.
I think that's an fair estimate on his ability. That said, he still young enough to learn a couple of tricks which could change that.There are also not many 21 yo strikers floating around the EPL though (off the top of my head) purely because I think at that level, you talent AND experience.

I get what you're saying, but I'm of the view that as a 21 year old going on 22 like Wood is this year, the room for improvement is reasonably limited, especially in the technical aspects of the game. In essence, if you don't have 'it' by then, you're just playing catch-up, without ever being likely to actually catch-up. And let's not forget that Wood was ditched by West Brom as they got Lukaku on loan, who is 2 years younger than Wood and has been very good at the Premier League level this season.
Which brings us to another point - yes, experience in the Premier League is important, but if you're good enough you get opportunities. Like I said, there's Lukaku at 19, Benteke and Wellbeck are both just a year older than Wood, there's also Raheem Sterling. And that's just off the top of my head. If we actually look at the players born in 1991 playing in the Premier League, some of the players on that list are pretty impressive - Eden Hazard, Oscar, Oriol Romeu, Andreas Weimann, Alex Kacaniklic, Fabio Borini.

Yep, Ricki Lambert was exactly what I had in mind when I said that Wood's best chance is to get promoted up and take the opportunities that he gets. Marcus Stewart also had a successful season in the Premiership after being promoted with Ipswich Town, and had a successful year or two with Sunderland as well.
But these days players like that are very much an exception to to the general pattern.

I'd say in general, it's quite the opposite on this forum at least - we tend to overplay the abilities of lot of our players.
All hope of promotion isn't lost - If Bolton draw or lose against Blackpool and Leicester beat Nott Forest then Leicester still go through to the play-offs.
