He's lived in Australia more than he has in NZ. He moved there when he was seven and didn't move back until he was 20.
The more you can push outside the cap the better, as we did with McKain. Honestly its a shame Durante has not been able to get onto the pitch for Aussie, it might have made him eligible for us.
On other transfer news, Byun signed for the Jets

Should be Australian/NZ marquee anyway.
Should be Australian/NZ marquee anyway.
The Newcastle Jets have continued to strengthen their squad for the 2011/12 A-League season with the signing of former Sydney FC defender Byun Sung-Hwan.
The former Korean international, who was released by the Sky Blues at the end of last season, has joined the Jets on a one-year deal.
Byun joins Socceroo midfielder Jason Culina as new additions to the Jets squad, which missed out on a finals berth last season.
"We are please that Sung-Hwan has agreed to join us for next season," Jets boss Branko Culina said.
"We believe that he has a lot of potential will be a handy player for us."
The Central Coast Mariners have today signed attacking midfielder Adriano Pellegrino from Perth Glory and versatile former North Queensland Fury player Brad McDonald.
And just not really that good to begin with
Defender Michael Beauchamp has left Melbourne Heart to join his hometown club Sydney FC on a multi-year deal.
After spending a solitary season with last season's A-League debutants, the two-time World Cup player will link up with his new team-mates for pre-season training in July.
The move has been approved by Heart despite Beauchamp still owing one year from his current two-year contract.
The deal gives the versatile defender the option to seek short-term options abroad in between the A-League season to bolster his chances of national selection.
"I still have my sights set on furthering my Socceroos career, but my immediate priority is to play well for my new club and help with the club's goal to bring about another championship," the 23-year-old, who has played in Germany with FC Nuremberg and in the United Arab Emirates with Al Jazira, said.
He added: "The ideal situation would be to remain at Sydney FC long term and regain selection into the Socceroos squad."
"I have only heard good things about head coach (Sydney boss) Vitezslav Lavicka, so cant wait to work under him."
Beauchamp, who made 19 appearances for the Heart, found first-team opportunities limited given the rise of youngster Michael Marrone.
"I am a Sydney boy as well and played a lot of my football here, so being back home is a bit of a thrill for me too."
Sydney coach Vitezslav Lavicka expressed delight at Beauchamp's arrival, which will bring some much-need experience and steel at the back for FC, who finished with the fourth worst goal difference last season.
"We all know he is a good player. He has a lot of international experience. He's been to two World Cups with the Socceroos and is a big, tall, strong defender," the Czech said.
"He has experience in Europe at some big clubs so he will be very valuable to us. He is an excellent character and I expect him to, and I know he will, provide us with good play and of course good leadership at the back."
Beauchamp, who has 22 international caps to his name, is likely to slot into fullback position left vacated by Byun Sung-hwan, who has departed for Newcastle Jets.
He's not, he is around 30 years old.
So Smeltz bumps Fowler out of the international marquee spot and Fowler "agrees to a deal that fits under the salary cap, with a hand shake".
Fowler on the market?
No takers on that one im guessing
too easy! I wish the UK punters were offering bets on this one. I'd bet my house on him leaving before the 3 years are up...

Adam Hughes to Perth
Perth Glory coach Ian Ferguson says its an exciting time for the club as he confirmed Adam Hughes has joined his squad for the next two Hyundai A-League seasons.
Hughes, a box-to-box midfielder, has spent the past two seasons with Adelaide while in 2008 he scored a goal for Irish team Drogheda United against Dynamo Kiev in a Champions League qualifier.
Adam brings strength to the midfield, something I feel we missed last season, Ferguson said.
Hes big and aggressive, hell bring a bit of bite to our team and hes a winner.
Adam is also a goal scorer, highlighted by the 13 goals he scored when used as a box-to-box midfielder in Ireland.
Hughes is the seventh new player to sign with the club following the signatures of Danny Vukovic, Neil Young, Dean Heffernan, Evan Berger, Travis Dodd and Shane Smeltz.
Ian Ferguson is rebuilding this squad with a lot of quality signings which is a real positive, Hughes said.
Obviously the results were not great last season so we need to work hard in the pre-season and work hard as a team to climb back up the ladder.
Hughes will arrive in Perth this weekend with pre-season training to commence next week on Tuesday, May 3.
Im looking forward to it, a few boys will still be missing and we still need to finalise our squad but its an exciting time for our club and exciting for the new players coming in, Ferguson added.
catch phrase of the 2011/2012 season is "we'll be taking our time recruiting for the right players"
Roar coach Ange Postecoglou has insisted he will take his time in recruiting new players for the next Hyundai A-League season with the Brisbane boss announcing his intent to cast a keen eye over the Asian market.
The Hyundai A-League Champions made their return to the Ballymore training field yesterday after a well-deserved seven week break with 16 members of last years squad retained for next season a campaign which will include the clubs maiden appearance in the AFC Champions League.
With young Sydney FC defender Matt Jurman also set join the Roar after the Sky Blues current ACL commitments, Postecoglou is left with a minimum of three squad spots to fill before the season kicks off in early October.
After a year which witnessed the emergence of an exciting, new brand of Australian football, a 28-game undefeated streak, the clubs maiden premiership and the most memorable Hyundai A-League grand final in the competitions short history, Postecoglous eagerness to preserve the teams dynamic was understandable.
Last year we had to sign 12-13 players, it was a hectic off-season, Postecoglou said.
Ive enjoyed the fact we can be a little more selective and go through the processes.
"It is important that the two or three new ones are the right ones.
Acknowledging the unique challenge posed by competing in the ACL, Postecoglou said it was only fitting for him and his coaching staff to look to the Asian football competitions to bolster their squad list.
Were searching far and wide but theres no rush with that because we have to get it right, he said.
We only have three foreigners on our books at the moment which Im not too distressed about, especially with the ACL where you can only have three foreigners and an Asian player.
Were going to have a look at the Asian markets as well, it makes sense for us to look there.
However, Postecoglou didnt believe an influx of new players was the clubs highest priority in the fight to retain their Hyundai A-League Premiership and Championship crowns and make a successful mark in the ACL, where Australian sides have experienced mixed success in recent years.
Instead, the five-time national championship-winning coach claimed that the development of the current crop of Brisbane players was his main concern, despite last seasons overwhelming achievements.
I dont think the new additions are going to define our season, I think our season is going to be defined by how much we can improve the players weve got here, Postecoglou said.
Its pretty simple our goal weve got to play better, thats it.
Weve got to improve on what we did last year and improve on the way we play.
With more than five months until next seasons opening round, Postecoglous main recruitment focuses are thought to be a striker and a defender to replace departed duo Jean Carlos Solorzano (Melbourne Victory) and Milan Susak (Indonesian Premier League).
Seems reasonable signing, better to sign a brazilian from germany than one starigjht from the unknown in brazil. Could be quite good?
Wouldnt mind seeing us looking at getting guys from these leagues too, rather than just the lower english leagues

Sydney FC sign young guns
Tuesday, 17 May 2011
by Adam Lucius, Sportal
Often criticised for using players past their use-by date, Sydney FC have invested in youth by signing two promising 21-year-olds.
Defender Nathan Sherlock and attacking midfielder Joel Chianese have graduated from the club's youth ranks to win new two-year deals.
The duo have been stand-out performers in the Sky Blues' youth team and have made the most of their limited opportunities when given time in the senior ranks.
The twin signings bring Sydney FC's squad list to 19 players, with former Socceroo Michael Beauchamp, fan favourite Karol Kisel and versatile defender Jamie Coyne coming aboard for the 2011/12 campaign.
"Nathan and Joel are young and talented players but they are also very calm and controlled on the pitch," Sydney FC coach Vitezslav Lavicka said.
"Nathan gives us options in defence as he can play in the centre or on the left or right. He was captain of the Youth team and shows good leadership while Joel is an explosive and quick type of player. He can be creative for us and he has shown in games for us that he has good vision and movement. These are very good qualities for us to have."
"We have a good mix of experienced and young players at the moment but we are now working hard to bring in some quality players from both Europe and Australia to strengthen us more."
Sherlock said: "Although I am only 21, it feels like it's been a long road to get here but I have never stopped trying and working hard to get here so I am over the moon."
"I feel I had a good year with the National Youth League team and now I am just excited about what lies ahead in the next few years."
"One thing for sure is that I will give it and Sydney FC everything I've got."
Chianese, who made his senior debut for Sydney FC off the bench in the ACL meeting with Kashima Antlers last month, looks forward to further development under Lavicka.
"There are a lot of good players at the club so I can learn a lot by watching them but I will also show what I can do," he said.
"It has been a great experience being part of the ACL squad, travelling with the team overseas and seeing how it is done so I am going to work as hard as ever and push for a regular spot in the A-League team.

Angulo looked set to extend his loan, wonder what happened. Wonder if he will turn up at another A-League club.

The article mentions an attempt to sign Crespo, that would have been interesting. And I guess it rules out trying to tempt Owen with some race horses aswell.
Even tho he wanted more than they were willing to pay, they did look a lot better with Jeffers up front. He might have been worth the extra amount, as I dont see where they will be getting the goals from with the squad they have atm.
