This Jets vs Roar game, is a good example of the plus side of the Wins trump goal difference rule change. Roar down 3-0 with a red card, usually all teams would just defend to stem the bleeding of goals, but they are still attacking and as a result the game is more interesting and they have got back in the game.
City hang on for a 1-0 win over Adelaide courtesy of an Antonis screamer. Lots of chances for the Reds but they spurned them all, including a terrible one on one miss by Irankunda late in the match.
Nice to see Jamie Young, who made the save, giving the distraught Irankunda lots of encouragement and moral support after the final whistle.
In slo-mo, the contact looks way worse than it really was. They both stuck legs out & the Victory player's leg got in front. Just chuck out the lazy yellow card and play on.
Utterly ridiculous. Such a poor decision all round from the officials.

Unfortunately with a ref like Kersey the nod by VAR to have a second look at it would immediately have put into his mind that the two most recent similar offences (Payne, O'Shea) were red carded, hence he just better follow suit.
I'm sure there are other (better) refs in the league who would've had the common sense to distinguish that this incident was totally different.
Second week in a row MV have looked less than convincing against ten men. Perhaps hoping for another lucky deflected goal.
Shows how reliant they have been on Bruno's goals. If he isn't there to score, who does? 1-1
If they're banking on Folami and Velupillay up top then they're in trouble. Those two couldn't finish a sandwich between them.
Stopovers and pace - They're essentially just shark versions of Jaushua Sotirio.
Good point for Sydney.
Also love it that MV is chock full of speedy, skillful wide players, so who do they get in on loan? Salim Khelifi, another speedy, skillful wide player.

Kersey is about the only ref I’ve seen in the A league who has ignored the VAR recommendation and he’s done it twice. And if other similar incidents are getting carded, then it seems fair. Still having issues with Keep Up so haven’t seen it yet…May change my mind!
Edit: yeh, that looks ridiculous, but getting ridiculous calls against the Victory has been suspiciously common this season. Both Payne and O’Shea were late, missed the ball and got the player who they could clearly see. Here Wood gets to the ball first and can’t see the player who arrives second and can see and avoid Wood. I’m doubtful there’s a foul against Wood there.

yet the victory fans are certain the league is rigged against them.
