Can't play someone if they ain't fit, iirc Marco spent most of his first season injured + a decent chunk of his second. One he started playing, he was a fixture in the side.
Boyd played in 24/27 games in his first season, 20/27 in his second before getting frozen out by Ernie in his 3rd (attitude issues/not signing a new deal depending on who you believe).
Kosta was totally underutilized, hence moving to the Roar cuz they had NYL for him to play in.
I never paid much attention to the Nix when a young Marco Rojas was lining up for the Nix so IF he does make a return, my god that would be exciting.
Neither did Ricki tbf lol, Marco was criminally underused for the talent he displayed. Although we also made that mistake with Kosta and Boyd - hopefully the same doesnt happen with Waine.

From what i heard Kostas attitude didnt help either. Agree though underutilized but he was also to blame.
Dream (albeit silly in terms of feasibility) team for this season. Snag Rojas and use the last import spot on free agent Steven Caulker to shore up the backline, pull Izzo from the Vuck’s grasp somehow, loan former Roar starlet Riku Danzaki to add some young technical prowess to the wide AMs (or go even sillier and pick up someone like Adem Ljajic or Jota Peleteiro, salary cap is gone at that point tho), pop Roy up top alongside the forum legend Pierre Michel Lasogga, rotate Ball and Waine in on a game by game basis. 411DFADC-40D3-497E-B819-40C1984D8C81.jpeg437.79 KB Realistically I think we’ll get an import keeper if we can’t snag a good Aussie, we’ll get an import AM, Kosta will probably start out wide and we’ll get either Roy or an import striker to partner Bally up top. I can see us using 4 import slots and then maybe picking up a 5th in January dependent on results.

Just remember that Sail is still contracted till the end of next season. If he does want to go to Europe, I would prefer it be announced in the next month or so rather than last minute.

I love it how Lassoga has gone from a journeyman striker that nobody had ever heard of, to our dream forward and top transfer target. All in a matter of days.

It will all come down to whether or not Talay and Gill are interested in him.
Wellington Phoenix Academy goalkeeper, 17 y/o Henry Gray, who spent most of last season based with the first team in Australia, has headed to the UK to explore some club opportunities there.
Have you spoken to them about him? Just reach out - you're Lassoga's agent after all.
No I have not because I am not an agent. All I did was go onto transfermarkt to try and find some off contract strikers we could sign to replace Hooper. His goal ratio looked impressive so I suggested him to see what others on the forum thought about him.

Go onto this website, go into the section transfers and rumors and select contracts expiring. Change these settings; position as forward, detailed position as centre-forward, all age groups and then nationality to Germany. He will be the second guy on the list. https://www.transfermarkt.com/

@Wusty they are not being serious. The off season gets boring and they are winding you up.
Uffie wants a prolific striker & we have had a solid hit rate with Championship/League One level players. So I'll throw out Will Grigg, even comes with an existing chant everyone knows.

Question 1: In the 2018/19 Wellington Phoenix season, during a 3-0 home loss to Western Sydney Wanderers, one Wellington Phoenix player was heavily panned, with one fan claiming “a couch sat in the middle of the pitch would be better than him” due to the fact that the player was actively harming the Wellington Phoenix performance. What was the name of that player? (Hint: the player is NOT Pierre Michel Lasogga).
Question 2: According to detailed statistical evidence, which 2021/22 Wellington Phoenix player is the best midfielder in the entire Isuzu Ute A-League Men’s competition, and should be starting based on said evidence? (Hint: this player is also NOT Pierre Michel Lasogga)

Test question, The Phoenix play most of their games at:
A) Eden Park B) The Loaf Tin C) The Ring of Dirt D) Hutt Wreck E) The Cake Tin
Wusty, I saw your post the other day, so I hope you take the above test with the humour it was intended. As an aside, the Nix have played at 4 of those five places.

We’ve come a long way from my personal forum high point when Cosimo or Cosmo wrote a version of the William Carlos Williams poem ‘This is just to say’ to talk about beers left in the Fever Zone. Or any of Oi Oi’s player ratings! Those were some gold quality reliable statistics…

My personal favourite was the saga with that fake player we were supposedly linked to. I can't remember his name but I'm pretty sure he had uploaded highlight videos of some random african player and pretended it was him.

My favourite was when Pavlovic went for "medical reasons" then turned up on here calling Herbert a fat fudge, a cod, and saying he knew shark about football because he thought Fenton was better than Rojas.
Why are you guys trying to wind just me up? Plenty of other people on this forum have suggested players we could sign how am I any different?
Yes, they're winding you up - hope you don't take offense. There's no news at the moment so the speculation about you is as good as any other. Good to join a forum with a splash :)
Also, I was pretty excited when I saw 40 odd unread posts here, only to have it be the same as the last 40 unread posts.

most of those guys have been members/fans since day one and have more forum involvement.
Not every single Phoenix fan has to be on this forum. I may not have been a fan from the very first season but I remember who scored the Phoenix's first ever goal, Daniel the Brazilian, and I know that Shane Smeltz was our top scorer for the first two seasons.
