What a way to sign off. Scoring a penalty and then the screamer of a goal, Brockie, you da man. Good luck in South Africa and thanks for the goals you did score and thanks for always being sociable with us fans.
Jeremy Brockie (Edgeworth FC | Australia)
Brockie becomes 2nd equal all time highest goalscorer for Phoenix with 23 goals, equal with Tim Brown. 2 more goals than Smeltz.
A bad year does not a bad player make. Brockie is still a good footballer, and I hope he can set a notoriously low-scoring league (the top scorer last year had only ten goals) alight.
talk like that you must yoda . hehe
as I said in another thread about something completely different - people have short memories.

Where did you get those numbers from?
From 2009 to now he has played 87 games in the A league for 17 goals. Where do the 57 appearances come from.
And yes clearly they were his phoenix stats, not A league. But way to miss the point as usual.
Stoked Brockie was able to sign off with 2 goals!
2nd equal with Tim Brown; another underrated player.

And as usual you are a dick.
I was pleased for Brockie to go out the way he did. I was also thrilled with the way we as a fan group sent him off.
Well the two Brockie chants are now consigned to the "Retro Chant" occassion.

Yes, Brocks deserves credit for that.
Tim Brown second equal is one of those strange stats - more than Smeltz (in five seasons compared to two though) - when you don't usually think back of Tim Brown as a prolific goalscorer.
The Phoenix all-time goalscoring table here (bang up to date) emphasizes how the Nix have lacked capable goalscorers in their eight seasons apart from Ifill, Brocks, Smeltz, Huysegems and now Burns:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wellington_Phoenix_FC...
Only five Phoenix players have ever scored double figures in a season (only four before Burns this season).
Only seven have scored more than seven goals in a season for the club.
They've been hampered by the fact that of the top six goalscorers, only two stayed around for more than three seasons (Ifill and Brown).
(Brockie two and a half, Smeltz two, Greenacre three, Huysegems two seasons)
Leo Bertos is the eighth equal all-time greatest Phoenix goalscorer (8 goals) !!! Before this season and Burns' feats he was seventh.
Ben Sigmund is the eleventh equal with 7 goals (ahead of Krishna, Boyd and McGlinchey for now)!!!

Bennie still has some goals left in him, I hope - like the "last minute headed equaliser" type.
NZ film-maker and football obsessive Sa'id Milton (Khalil Media) has put together a nice tribute video to Brockie on You Tube with goal highlights of his A-League career from his teenage dreadlock years at the NZ Knights , through Northern Queensland, Newcastle and up to last weekend's game for the Nix:
Milts is still looking for people with money to invest to help finish a feature documentary on the 1982 All Whites. He has filmed heaps of interviews with many of the major participants (players and coaching staff) but needs money to secure rights to match footage (expensive from the overseas rights holders - TVNZ destroyed most of their footage years ago), edit it and add a decent soundtrack.
Anyone millionaires reading this or football fans with wealthy relatives or friends should contact Sa'id Milton....
last time......
Laughed when I saw the wind assisted goal that made Covic look a twunt!
Awesome montage! Not a striker?!
Apparently the impossibility of getting insurance because of his cancer was a factor which squashed any chance of him playing in the A-League for the Knights or the Phoenix. I guess the demands of full time pro football may have been too much while battling cancer too.
Cheers Pete, I always wondered why he didn't play for the Knights given the club, Keryn and Waitak all said that he was here to play in the A-League. That inaugural season might have turned out quite different with him in the team.
Jeremy definitely knows how to finish a goal!!!
He's had more class finishes is his time here with us then many strikers have over the whole of their careers.
His stats too are pretty good really. 23 in 57(?) is decent. He's been his club's top scorer in three seasons for 3 different clubs, I hope he adds SuperSport to that list (Knights, Newcastle, Nix).
Has had a number of assists too.
His A-league record overall is close to one goal every three games (40 in 132), which is pretty good considering that he played a lot as a winger/wide forward and he was playing for mid-table teams at best.
That screamer against Brisbane, the volley against Melbourne Vic and the other two against Victory where we were getting humped 3-0 were my favourites from him.
I'm still not convinced this isn't a great ploy by Merrick to get him scoring goals for us....I'm waiting until I see some SuperSport match reports!!
Flies out tomorrow. First game is on the 12th by the looks.
Good luck Jezza.
Unused sub this morning. They have another game on Sunday morning.
Scored this morning in a 1-0 win over the Mpumalanga Black Aces
Brockie scores on debut following a delightful chip from Chapman. The New Zealander does well to lob the ball over the on rushing Mabokgwane

Good news for Brockie I thought he was a pretty big loss despite all the hate he got. I don't think hes ever going to be the back up we need for woodsy but he could be decent in the next WC cycle as a winger or maybe an AM depending on formations
Well done Brockie
Scored again this morning v Kaiser Chiefs at 47'
Subbed off at 65'

Who is this "Brockie"....
http://www.supersport.com/football/absa-premiershi...
According to this report he's a 'burly' forward
Brockie killing it nice work shouldn't have let him go glad he is doing well better for the all whites to have him playing week in week out.
true. He only set a nix record for most goals scored in a season. And became our second all time goal scorer in just 2 (and a bit) seasons.
He didn't fit our style at all.
He's just a shark Dylan MacAllister

You are being obtuse. It's quite obvious he did not fit our current system.
Agree. The problem Tegal is while you are factually correct, how many of those were scored under Ernies time? Paints a different picture entirely.
He stopped scoring goals. If he was scoring goals, I'm sure he'd have fitted whatever style. Suited the first formation we played better than our current one, but still could have been a lot more clinical than he was. He had some kind of mental block that lasted two seasons, until the last game he played.
It's like Ernie didn't give him a chance. He started quite a few games at the beginning of the season.
I think he was a good option off the bench if we needed to change things, though.
Anyway, happy he's doing well over there.
