W League
Not so nice that it now means every team has been covered except for us... even though Canberra, CCM, Macarthur only have a team in one of the two comps. Hmm.
bit of both really, the club should be aware of who is eliible to be on the field, but also the 4th official is respnsible for checking team sheets etc so should have stopped the attempt to make the sub.
Referee and assistants are not responsible for whether the player is eligible, or even is signed to that club. They only need to verify the team sheet is correctly filled out. Up to the club to ensure player is eligible to play and able to verify that to the league authorities if a protest is lodged.
Except in this case the pkayer eligible. The issue was rules say a team is permitted to make up to 5 substitutions in up to 3 stoppages in play. They made a 4th substitution in a fourth stoppage.
I reckon that should be on the match officials. Their job is to regulate the game on match day.
Only seen it once before; in a Kate Sheppard cup match between NP Rangers and Massey, Rangers something like 9 nil up with around 5 minutes to go decided to give their reserve GK a run. She never even touched the ball.
Massey appealed and were awarded the points. I don’t rightly recall whether it was an extra stoppage, or they used a 4th sub and were only allowed 3.(pre-2020), but similar issue.
At amateur level. I thought it was poor form of Massey to protest it, especially given the circumstances, 9-0 down and all.
But then, I thought it was poor form a couple years back when Seatoun, 5-0 up, gave a talented young player a 15 minute run out, and their opposition lodged a protest for the points.
And when a club protested last year that LHFC played a couple of kids thinking their WPX dispensations carried across.
Some of these ’winners’ must feel so proud.
Brisbane Roar have been deducted three points after they were deemed to have breached the Liberty A-League’s competition regulations.https://t.co/e85ctLNiD6

ALW sanity prevails - @CanberraUnited will keep the 3 points from beating Sydney FC despite an attempt to strip them because of an alleged ineligible substitute. Puts them right back in finals race.

WTF Sky?
WTF Sky?
Do you honestly think the few people that may watch it makes it worth it to Sky? I mean other men's games don't rate great what do you think women's games do?
Well in that case I have no idea.

Wellington Phoenix's round 16 A-League Women fixture v Adelaide United will now be played on Wednesday, March 20 (a 5pm kickoff!), rather than Sunday, February 11, to avoid clashing with the OFC Olympic qualifiers. They are trying to move the February 18 game v Western United too

Well that sucks for anyone traveling to Welly for the 10th/11th Feb ALM/ALW double.

I think some of our players still hold a bit of fear when it comes to playing against the bigger teams especially with some Matilda star players. Hope we can be more fearless next season.
