There will literally be 30+ players I imagine that will having their agents contact the Nix, or vice versa. However yes won't be an easy spot to fill. Quality strikers injury free are in demand. But still over 3 months to go before the season starts, plenty of time. In Talay & Gill we trust.
Austin apparently has Queensland connections so it was probably an easy choice for him when picking between A-League teams. I’d hope that the Nix were at least looking at him though.
Some strange assumptions here, we have no idea if Uffie was interested in him or not. Maybe he wasn't, maybe he was and Austin's wage demands were too high, or that he liked Brissy more, or that he just plain didn't want to come here, etc. So many variables with transfers
Yeah good point. If Talay was not interested in him then that is unfortunate, but if he was and Austin was just not keen on coming to Wellington, at least he tried.
Well, I guess that is confirmation he is not keen on returning. Was looking unlikely to begin with but it is still a shame. I guess he is aiming to finish off his career in the same place it started.
Or wishful thinking but reading into that post maybe that it's even more likely he is signing for the Nix. Just looking to keep the fitness ticking over while they are still in off season.

Is it though? My read on this is he is wanting to start pre-season early while finalising his next contract and has chosen to do so at a club in a town where he has friends (Family?) but he wouldn't be able to play in for his next contract.
Roy's potential moves are the Nix, another A league side or India none of whom would have started pre-season training yet, if anything this points to a A league (incl. Nix) move given the closeness to Welly/Sydney and the fact the A league sides will be starting pre-season in the next few weeks (the Gould announcement article said pre-season for the nix starts in July) .
Roy will be 35 this year. Where ever he goes it will likely be a final fling. He already made the big bucks in India. So be interesting to see what his next move is.
Would be interesting to see what we'd do with imports if we sign Roy. With an Import 10 the only position we'd really be needing but with two imports left would we still chase another forward or move to the backline/gk.

In my opinion, we definitely need a very strong and consistent centre forward. I don't think we've delivered on that requirement yet.

Yeah, read it a second time and realised where I went wrong.

Yes it all screams signing for an ALM club. But if it is a Rudan reunion & WSW as rumoured wouldn't it make more sense to get fit with a NSW NPL cub, or some other outfit in Sydney. Him & his wife can setup early in Syderrs etc etc. Ummm

There are reports that WSW are about to sign a Portuguese striker. This could mean they are not chasing Krishna anymore. Unless another A-League club is interested in him and we do not know about it yet, this post sounds promising.

Imo it would be foolish to move to Sydney/Wellington BEFORE signing the new contract. Smart move for him is to stay with family/friends in Auckland, train for a bit then move to the new city once the ink is dry.
Presumably he knows people at the club, he also knows the city. I think the fact that he's in Auckland doesn't mean anything. And even if he was in Wellington training with the Nix it wouldn't mean anything either, players often train with former clubs even if they're going to sign with a rival.
But, at 34 and coming off a pretty underwhelming season at a lower level (albeit covid and injury impacted) he's going to be a little bit of a risk.

Hopefully the training he will do with this club will get him back to full fitness. Who would you guys prefer? Krishna or a brand new import, possibly Lasogga?

Pretty hard to call, Krishna vs someone we don't know yet. I think Krishna still has a few good years at the A league level if he wants it. A known quantity to some extent..
I have all faith in our coach. I'm sure we will have some announcements soon.

For anyone wondering, this is who I was talking about. Was at Leeds United with Wood and someone on the forum also found out that his step-father Oliver Reck played with Wynton Rufer at Werder Bremen, credit to them for finding that out. https://www.transfermarkt.com/pierre-michel-lasogga/profil/spieler/73013

I get there's a link (albeit a rather tenuous one), but you've suggested this Lasogga bloke and kinda run with it like its a genuine rumour. There's dozens of strikers off contract that Gill and Uffie will be looking at, yet for some reason on this thread of late people are acting as if its either Krishna or this random bloke that one person has suggested that they would think is a good signing.
For what it's worth I hope the rumours are true and we do get Pierre Michel Lasagna to sign on the dotted line. Can't afford to lose out on him to Brisbane like we did with Charlie Austin

There are no rumours, apart from on here, and even then it ain't a rumour.
welp rumours gotta start somewhere right? And I've been hearing a lot of hype and good things around it. Particularly on the last page or two of this thread. It's not like the club have done themselves any favour to clarify the situation by coming out and directly saying they aren't making on offer to him so Either way I hope he has a genuine interest in whatever deal either have or haven't offered him.

Jesus weep. What offer? Someone on here has just mentioned a name that's all. If Talay & co are looking at him, as above he will just be one of yes dozens of players they are looking at. If he is signed, great scoop to whoever made the suggestion. Until then his name shouldn't even appear on here.
Guys I am not trying to act like that this is someone we are definitely getting, I am sorry if it felt like that. I just suggested him because he is about to go off contract, has a decent goal ratio, and could be an affordable option if Krishna does not come back or Talay and Gill are somehow unable to sign anyone else.
So are we not keen on him now? What changed? I thought the initial reaction was quite positive when his name first got mentioned on this thread. What did I miss?

He was put forward by a poster, there are no other reasons for the rumour. Club may be interested in him, but may not be, who knows. But there have been no noises about this guy, other than coming from the poster. FWIW, he looks like he could be decent, but it's pure speculation and putting names out there.

Ah okay my bad I see. I must have crossed my signals and gotten a bit carried away. Appreciate you clarifying the situation.
Yeah guys - a rumour is when you have some info or gossip, your friends mum said something, or someone on twitter posted something. Not just you googled someone and they looked good and knew a kiwi player. I appreciate the effort though ;)
Does anyone have any solid rumours? What happened to the RB that had a game for the all whites and was trailing in Europe? Did he get a gig?
