Happy that the 5 subs are remaining in place this season
My opportunistic jokes about Rufer aside, he will be a key player early on in the season in the reshuffled team without Taylor and Davila.
Mainland FC
How do you put Pennington ahead of Rufer - he hasn't even played a game yet. How do we know he is stronger. Also he's more a playmaker apparently, so it would be Lewis more likely to make way with Rufer doing the graft.
martinb Talay talked of him being more a DM.
“I rate his consistency and the fact he’s a hard-working, box-to-box player who gives his all every match; he plays as a 6 so he’ll give us depth in that position and he’ll have every opportunity to play to his strengths.

Looking forward to seeing how he goes.
Prso played more of an AM role at the jets. But am hoping to see Ben Old get more opportunities in that role.
alon222 Yea we have 3 pre season games vs A-League teams. One of the players said it in an interview, i think?
EDIT: I've tried to find it, but can't think who it could have been. I can't even find a recent interview other than the Academy boys. It might have been a very specific dream??

The Western v Jets FFA Cup game has been scheduled for the 13th, so wouldn't be surprised if we play the winner of that game before the AL season starts.

4 straight clean sheets for Sail & Paulsen. Our defense might not be bad after all.

WSW beat Macarthur 3-2 over the weekend. Hemed and Davila got on the scoresheet for their respective teams. Three friendlies played, three friendlies lost for Macarthur. Add that to the whole vax/anti-vax drama going on there at the minute... it's not a happy football club to work at right now.

Does that make Pennington a 10 cover possibility?

With the team now relocated to NSW.
Can we expect some pre season games against A league teams?
I'd be surprised if we are not in line to play Sydney some time over the next two weeks.

I would assume so, considering also there is no quarantine to be had

Be great to actually do something in the FFA Cup. The boys should be used to playing well away now so it would be great to see a decent cup run.
Wellington Phoenix @aleaguemen go straight into a pre-season game against Central Coast Mariners tomorrow. They will also play Sydney FC in Western Sydney Wanderers before the season starts.

Hard to believe they will be organised for a game tomorrow... good luck boys!!

Love the prolonged upright levitation
2 weeks till we kick off and still no news on memberships or broadcast info in NZ!? I realise there are probably loads of things to sort out but this is getting a little silly.
