Was looking at his league minutes for 1st teams across his seasons yesterday.
It's wild that a third of his all-time league minutes happened last season. Hard to know who much was injury related and how much was out of favour.Annotation 2024-05-24 100116.jpg84.46 KB

Generally though injuries come first then the "out of favour" bit, or struggles to find form etc.
I remember it took quite a few games for Zawada to finally score in his first season, and what he said when he did was he was surprised he hadn't been dropped yet and that the consistent run of gametime (for likely the first time in his senior career) enabled him to improve drastically.
Form outside of the A-League doesn't always translate to form within the A-League, particularly because the finals series and lack of relegation means teams can afford to be more patient and build towards something.
When he moved to the Nix the comments in Polish sports press said he was out of favour / could not fit into the game plan / while at the Korean team, and that move to NZ was seen as a chance to return to a scoring form.
The off-season is a time of desperation – panning through vague social media posts for even the slightest twinkling of information. This could mean anything, e.g. "I'll miss you for the next month or two before our move to Devonport," but I suppose it's no weaker than oysters at one of the most obvious go-to restaurants in Auckland for Instagram types.
Maybe like most of the international imports they are heading home or back to Europe for a holiday - following the Ball's socials and it seems they are back in Ol' Blighty at the moment.

That's not really a see you soon message. If they've opted to leave instead of AKL, I'm good with that. Gutted, as it's only a financial decision due to circumstance (on the clubs part) that he's not staying with us :(

What a sweet message, best of luck to you Zawada on your return to Europe or wherever you go. Like many, your contribution/what you have done for the Phoenix will not be forgotten.

Sorry I misread your comment. Nothing to see here. Thanks Oskar!
Why did the Nix not say anything official before Oskar? I'm guessing he was cut free some time ago. Was there an offer on the table waiting for Oskar to make his decision?
Appears as though he has signed for RKC Waalwijk in the Eredivise. A shame as I would have gladly accepted him turning up for Auckland if it meant him staying in NZ and still getting to see his performances week in, week out in the A League.

Don't think I could have stomached him turning up in Auckland tbh.

A great advertisement for the team though to mid career european professionals who may have slipped under the radar back home. You can come here and reignite your career and end up back in the limelight.
That said by the sounds of the latest TV revenue deal there might not be any funds to throw at european signings in the future.
there absolutely was not... Chiefy was quite clear about this at season's end. There was no money for itMarto

Wow, a transfer from the Nix to an Erevedisie club is the type of thing we’d be shouting from the rooftops if it was a homegrown player. Good on him, that’s a great move.
Good move for him. Nice league and closer to home. He still has a few good years of football ahead of him. Hopefully he stays fit and bangs in a few goals. Go well, Oskar
