Doubt we'd get Krisha, considering the money he was on in India / what he's looking for as he's also only got a couple years of big money contracts left in him. If we couldn't match Davilla's $750k, no chance Krishna's looking for anything less than that.
James Dodd was saying on the fox football podcast he expects a multi year extension on uffies contract to be announced soon. I know its not concrete, but he's pretty reliable
I spoke with my former workmate, whose Cousin is Costa Nhamoinesu (Zim circles are small) who plays for Kerala Blasters in the ISL. He'd be keen to come down to Wellington if Domey gives his manager a call. Costa's a big lad and could be a good replacement for Devine/Taylor/Laws. He had a couple of good seasons with Sparta Prague.
Apperantly Talay will re sign which is great news. Hopefully he’s given the resources necessary to compete with the best teams. His ambition is certainly very visible
Domey said on newstalk zb this morning that Uffie will be re signing and wants to stay for a long deal, just had a couple of things to work through before announcing it this afternoon. He also said a few players should be announced also. Possible we could hear about Davila.
Sure I am gutted that Davila will wear bull horns next year, but Talay proved very good at bringing decent players into the squad. As far as I can see it is only the money that is the issue for us. Talay will likely look for new people to come in next season, and I hope his golden touch of finding the right players will continue. For all the tears about Davila going, I still maintain that it would be harder to replace Uffie than Uli.
Good to see that all of the contract extensions so far have been long term deals (2+ years).
With Ufuk set to re-sign on a long term deal, more likely that key off-contract players will also re-sign. DEVLIN AND TAYLOR PLEASE! Don't think there will be an announcement about Davila's contract extension. More so, his departure.

Absolutely! Ufuk Talay is much more important to the club than any one player.
Lets face it with Poppa getting the VUC job, Uffie had limited options for the moment if he wanted to stay an A League head coach.
However you would think he's got some good promises from the Welnix owners, about a reasonable player budget to have a real crack at the title next season, with proper home games.
Very happy Uffie is staying but disappointed it is another two year deal. We will be going thru all this again in a years time. Wish both sides could have shown some faith in each other and sorted out a 5 year deal, something that you can plan long term around.

True, but when was the last time an a league manager had a contract that long?

Sounds like his ambitions lie overseas rather than in the A-League. With the talent the Nix have produced over the last few years, the club seems to be more widely regarded overseas now as well. Winning the A-League with the Victory or SFC is one thing, but managing to win it with the Nix is surely going to be seen as more of an achievement - lets hope he gets the support he needs to pull it off.
Lots of re-signings since they got back to Wellington, are there no fax machines in Australia or what.
It was mentioned awhile ago by one of the Journos, that we had guys re-signed but unannounced. They were obviously waiting for this week to announce as a build up to the Western game.

It would be very rare, I'm just sick of every couple of years hearing about how our coach is gonna leave etc. Uffie has done enough so far to show he is worth investing in long term imo.
Possibly already been said, but this week has been very well done by the Nix right the way through the organisation - top to bottom. The updates have been fantastic, the build up has been fantastic and the leading into the match with the snakes with Lewis, Sail, Waine and now Uffie confirming they'll be with us for a couple of seasons more is just good business by the club.
Anyone else sign as mentioned by Domey this morning?
I think you'll find he was talking in a general sense... that the next step was announcing Ufuk Talay's extension, then after that working on more players. Fairly positive no-one else has put pen to paper as yet.
"True, but when was the last time an a league manager had a contract that long? "
Agreed. I don't think our (YF) mental timeframes are the same as the players and coaches. We expect the good things to last as long as we have..... what can I say? For them it is a job and/or a career. For us, it is a lifelong addiction. Most of us have been posting here longer than any coach, player, or club owner has lasted.
Controversial opinion, but I wouldn't keep DaVila.
explain? he is probably the best creative player in the league.
Sorry all wasn't trolling - life's been pretty hectic recently. I don't disagree that DaVila's one of the most/if not the most talented number 10 we've had on our books, but my issue with him is: He often tries to do too much and ends up giving away possession. I'm not sure if it's a coaching/team/player issue, but
As another poster mentioned, regularly he takes shots that are simply not on and we'd be better recycling the ball, on breaks he carries too long and gives away possession, if he's playing in defense - he regularly leaves his fullback exposed (imo he should be playing the middle of the park) or doesn't track back/close down fast enough and he'll run into traffic and rather than passing (even though he's talented) he doesn't have the skills to get through.
Appreciate it's the A-League, that's why he's not playing in a better competition and I do recognize his talent as an individual, but it's his inter team play that I find frustrating. Of course given the news all of the above is moot but yeah - controversial opinion.

Fair enough, I get those points, but I still think his technical ability to do something out of nothing, especially his long range shooting means that I can accept it, although there’s probably been several times I’ve said “don’t shoot” and he’s scored (and also several times when he’s had it blocked by the first man).
I think Piscopo is guilty of the same things, but I don’t think his shooting is as good yet, so he frustrates me a lot more than Dávila in that respect. You could probably pick any game and see a few wild, head-scratching Piscopo bombs from range, but the nadir of that might have been in the Victory loss when we won the ball high up, had players making the run at the out-of-shape defence, yet he tried to hit it on the bounce from very far out and sent it miles over the bar.
The age difference between Piscopo and Davila makes it easier to forgive Rene some of those wild shots.
Also convinced (after watching Jarrod Kimber’s piece on Neil Wagner) that left footers have a slight advantage in terms of angles and so on that a keeper is used to.
So we have had 3 clean sheets in the last 4 games. Steven Taylor was involved in all those 3 games but not the one where we conceded twice. Common Nix, sign him up.
Has the A-league even confirmed dates for next season, and confirmed that suggested switch to a winter competition? And what would a really long off-season do for player retention?

Adam Peacock mentioned on his latest Fox podcast that next season start date was most likely going to be an October start.
I think Hemed gave us more of a glimpse yesterday of what he's capable of. Not only did he look dangerous every time he got the ball he also set up several chances for others (which sadly they weren't good enough to take). I wonder if it's a done deal that he's going back to Israel at the end of the season? He seemed to like playing in front of the Yellow Fever at the Ring of Fire. I'd be looking to sign him for another year. I hear he loved Wellington too. Anyone know the goss with him for next year is?

If true that is going to be an October start (effectively a summer league again), that would be fantastic news for the Nix especially.
I am not sure if he will stay if he’s offered. I spoke to him a few times and had dinner with him after the Melbourne City game as we have a family connection through his mother’s side, he loves the Sydney lifestyle, and for him a big Jewish community is important, he and Shunit (his wife) want to send their kids to a Jewish school (which Wellington doesn’t have) and keep kosher but at the same time I’m not sure how many clubs would be interested to keep him.. . So time will tellOzNix
