Yeah to be honest I thought it would be Matt with about 28, me with about 15 and then Collie with only 5 or so, but ah well. Next time we may have five more players and we'll be in with a great shot
NZ National Team
I took control of the national team this morning, check out how it went. I was thinking of not bothering to run this time around but with Matt's Eagles indicating he won't be going again, maybe I should

It came close in the past, I was going to give someone else a crack but I think I'll take one more shot at it at the end of this season if somebody nominates me (depending on how much time I have free).
yeah with that result you should totally run for it......I'll put my name forward for it if my result is suitably good of course....
Have been nominated for NT coach - anyone think I should accept? Would be going up against Archway and DFC at this point in time
Don't see why not. Got my vote.
accept away! we'll all back you. Even though I nominated matts eagles this season
Ok folks, please vote here: http://trophymanager.com/national-teams/election/
Thinking we need around 15 votes to win the gig.
Done.
Voted.
Will always remember when I ran and got within a couple of votes without even campaigning. So hopefully you should win since you'll be campaigning - plus you've built up a bit of rep. Downside is those who tend to only vote for prem teams, plus DFC and WCW are pretty big opponents - but you might get lucky if their vote splits right down the middle.
Voted
Thanks guys - last time we got around 15 I think and came so close - think we may get similar this year, will probably come down to whether the other two guys split the vote. We shall see!
done - hopefully people will figure that DFC and aRch have had their chance, time for some new blood at the helm.
Cheers guys, have at least 7 votes confirmed now, good sign. Think voting is open until Friday night/Saturday morning.
Voted - good luck Whip
I voted too
Congrats N-Bomb! New Zealand national team manager!
Won it by a single vote!
got to love a close battle.
All hail our new lord and master!
Thanks a bunch everyone, time to get this show on the road, see how the Fever go at running a team for the next 2 seasons.
I ask for one thing only - for the people who voted to also take an interest in the NT threads. Basically, whenever I make a depth chart/choose a team, it'd be great to have heaps of input, so we can create the best NT community NZ has had. Obviously, it'll be pretty hard to win every game, especially with the talent we have, but if we can get as many people interested as possible, we can tick that off as a success.
Happy to help with the analysis. Could you post explaining how the things like depth chart analysis works, what you do, what you include etc.?
Alright so basically with the depth charts, which I'll be posting over the next week or so, is a look at which players are the best at each position in NZ, and ranks them on their likely value to the NT over the next two seasons.
So what I'll probably be looking at is obviously no.1 - Individual skill, which skillsets are best for the NT - eg for strikers, looking at guys who have gold star heading/finishing/longshots/workrate etc. And then I'll break them down into position - probably GK, DC, wingbacks, wingers, MC's, and then forwards.
As well as skill, age and routine will come into factor, how much I'm not sure as it'll be a learning process as I continue to get acclimitised.
Nice.
First depth chart is out, thoughts in the thread appreciated if you have any: http://trophymanager.com/forum/nz/general/282827/last/#last
Centre back depth charts, opinions in the thread again appreciated!

Wingbacks are up in the NT depth charts, including one of our own:
I keep meaning to have a look at these. But i haven't even had time to look at my own teams this season!
When are your first games?
First qualifiers are in June but expecting a bunch of friendlies before then.
The depth charts, as posted, are interesting... but they don't really allow me to engage in the discussion.
There are links to each player, but to engage in the discussion I need to click on each link, open multiple tabs/pages, extract data from those pages - put them in a spreadsheet, work out how to compare players of different positions i.e. which skills are most importnant, partly importnant, not really important... add in age, routine, invent some sort of formula which may or may not be the same one you use...
...and then go back to the thread and digest what is being said.
That is a lot of effort. it is a barrier to buying into the process. Even though I am interested, I think I will give up and stop paying attention.
I assume, as national coach, that you do something somewhat similar to what I described above...?
If so, why not post the spreadsheet, or a link to it in Google docs or something similar (dropbox or something would work too) so everyone can look at the analysis tool, see the highlighted rows and columns that denote which things are prioirty 1, 2 and 3... see where the rating index for each player comes out... make suggestions for how it might be done better, or differently...
I think you'd get WAY more engagement that way.
Haha you overestimate the process greatly. The depth charts aren't the meaningful part, the lineups are. Although the depth charts take work, there's no formula, it's simply comparing all the best options for the position. Nobody takes it too seriously and it's just basically a pre-cursor so people can see what I'm thinking of doing before the lineups come out, and aid simply as a discussion to debate which players are in line for selection and what tactics should be used.
And actually, the discussion on the forums has been more than people usually get in the past, it's a very niche group
I think a lot of us don't understand how one is better than another. Any advice?
It depends on which position you are talking about, but for the ones so far - Goalkeeping you look at Reflexes and Handling first, followed by 1 on 1's, while for defenders you go for tackling, marking, pace, heading, workrate, positioning and strength, and when processing wingbacks you add in crossing/passing.
Open the User Guide.
To do this, click on the Forums icon (the golbe one in the red square below), then click on the User Guide.
Then on the left hand menu bar, near the bottom, expand the Advanced sub menu, and click on Player Skills.
Scroll down towards the bottom of that page... there is a section on each position type. It explains the important skills for each position.Just finished reading the NT thread. Enjoyed it, some good discussion. Looking forward to the qualifiers.
First game of the campaign, check out how it went: http://trophymanager.com/forum/nz/general/282827/last/#last
1-1 have to be happy with that
Great 3-0 win for the national team!
