It's a shame friendlies don't count for appearances or routine. I understand why both arent counted but I think they should at least make one of them be counted.
NZ National Team
agreed, if the player gets a game surely that has to count for something......I suppose the injuries don't count so that's a positive.
I can see why they don't for normal games, as some teams play thousands of friendlies and stats would be massively skewed, but for the National Team I think they should count too.
I reckon appearances but not routine. Otherwise you'd get coaches just playing youngsters during friendlies for routine, so I understand that. But see no harm in adding them as an NT appearance on the player page.
yeah NT appearances might help with increase sale prices - oh wait they are already silly!
so the NT lost against Indonesia today 3-1, DFC has had the team for the last two campaings - I think it's time we pull our resources and get Tegal or one of the other YF guys a crack at the job. There should be enough of us to give it a crack.
I recommend N bomb. I simply don't have the time, and he seems to have kept up with the NT happenings more than anybody.
that's fine by me...I just want to see a YF member get the job so we can have some discussion and input from here
I would be keen, but I'm not sure I'd be up to it, most of these guys who want the job have about 20 seasons experience, I don't want to be embarrassed by losing to Fiji or anything....
Maybe I'll run as somebodies assistant, and we can get input that way.
I wouldn't worry too much about the experience thing. You could always run on a campaign of being a 'community manager' by which I mean putting a lot of topics into the forums and taking in everyones point of view etc. I'm sure the experienced guys would post a lot of information which you could make a decision on.
Fiji used to be a really hard game from memory - I think they used a 3-1-3-1-2 formation or something like that and would always seem to beat us. Think that was in the old TM though.
I reckon with the combined knowledge on here you could do ok. And I'm sure DFC would love to assist with ideas etc.
ok so nominations for NT are ready, who are we nominating???
I've nominated N-Bomb. Up to him whether he wants to accept it or not.
Give me a day or two to ponder it, I might gauge the TM forum's view tomorrow. It does feel a little bit like if I got the job I'd be taking on a sinking ship. I'll probably accept and see how close I get to the job, and then maybe next time round I could be a likely shot at getting non-YF voters and actually getting the job, as I say I'd be fairly unlikely at this point, would probably end up second.
With the way its set up, you'd get a lot of help and input, so that's a good thing. But you may be right about a sinking ship. Would be cool if you did decide to give it a go though. Reckon you'd get a few more votes that aren't us too, due to your forum activity, would be close.
And by the sounds of it DFC isn't running again, so maybe the vote gets split.... Even if we did a terrible job it would still be fun to say if was the NT manager for at least a season, and then blame it on our poor player base haha.
so n-bomb it is!!!
I've accepted, let's see how it goes. Will try and be active in answering questions if they come up, maybe I can get some non-YF support as well.
time to place your votes lads......waikato whips all the way to the top!
just looked at our NT squad and realised we have some seriously old players

Yeah it's a worry. That's what Whips (love it!) meant by taking charge of a sinking ship. But if he wins the election and manages to get some half decent results, it'll win a lot of favour in the future. To me, its almost a no loss situation.
To be fair, most NT teams are old because you have to be a superb player to make it, and superb players are few and far between at ages 22-24, but we do have a fair few aging players who won't last the full two seasons.
I'm looking forward to discussing it in great depth.
Wow there hasn't been a lot of discussion in the thread this time round has there. Looking at the candidates, the voting will be quite split.
I'm guessing it'll pick up now that the candidates have been confirmed. If I recieve a similar amount of votes that you did last time Tegal, then adding for some I have persuaded, we could be a close shout. I think Matt's Eagles will get the job personally, but I could run a close second or third, if the votes get split then who knows. Just got to get a solid double-digit Fever backing!
you should get all the fever crew backling you, then you should just need to get some ex DFC supporters. I've not seen a lot of the MAtt's eagles dude so no idea what kind of competition you're up against
N-Bomb, you've got some questions to answer in the NT forum, DFC has really put the heat on.
We need another Perth punk to liven things up.
I think the Brazilian dude is going to do his best to cause some confusion.....
Christ. I didnt even consider the effect the changing positions for 100 pro days had on NT. That makes the change even more of a joke.
I actually think the vote will be split enough that N-Bomb will win - as DFC pointed out, I got 25% of the vote last time without even running a campaign. That being said, matts eagles may edge it.
It all depends on how many votes I get from the YF guys, if it's 5, I have no shot, 15 - I'm in with a chance. Am just going to go answer the questions now but feel my answers may be the same as most.
Got my vote N-Bomb. Hopefully you can persuade a few non-fever members to vote for you as well. With a bit of luck the other candidates may split some of the vote.
hopefully the other fever TM'rs read this thread and vote too.
Yeah might have to do a twitter ask-around of some sort.
good call.
Yeah just make sure not to message anyone in game obviously.
Yeah might have to do a twitter ask-around of some sort.
Put a mention in the other TM threads on here too - some of us n00bs don't look at this thread very often, if at all.
New questions in the NZ election thread N Bomb.
Voting closed. Will find out in the next few days who the new NZ coach is. Not that it matters, we all know Ryan Nelsen runs the TM team as well as the all whites.
Ah well, we gave it a good run, 10 votes in the end to finish in second, the vote wasn't split as Matt's Eagles took 25 votes to win easily. Still second place once again, maybe next time there will be more Fever voters around to really push us over the top.
