I'm having a good season - in 3rd place in the Championship after 9 games. Also my reserves played a team called Tegal last night - is he back playing the game?
League Banter - The Matchday thread
I very briefly came back. But then couldn't be bothered again.
Maybe one day.
Did you beat me?
Nil all draw. I had a play sent off inside half an hour, so that's my excuse.
2nd place, 3 points behind 1st. Only one loss so far this season. Still a long way to go but this is shaping up nicely!
currently sitting second, sitting behind the other Wellington team in my league (there are 3).
This stat is what I'm most please about.....my defence is rock solid at the moment with a good young keeper which has finally made the grade from the youth academy.

I beat Peow 4-0 and I've gone top of my Championship group (on GD). Do I dare to dream?

yeah? I have tegal in my league too.
my season has taken a turn for the worse, a draw and loss against two teams i should of beat. 1 point out of instant relegation zone
Halfway through the season, still top of my league (on GD only)
Massive slump in form. Still in 4th at least though
Oh yeah, and I upgraded my youth academy to level 9 about a season and a half ago and haven't got a youth prospect with PA above 3.5* since. When my YA was still level 8 I had a golden run 4.5* players come through it
I should have had an easy game against one of the cellar-dwellers in my league. 10 shots on target to 2 and the score was 2-2. I had 3 injuries as well and ended up with 10 men because one of my injured guys had come on to replace an injured guy himself.
I'm currently in 3rd in my Championship group, 6 points clear of 5th. In the final 5 games of the season I have to play the teams which are currently 4th, 5th, and 6th (as well as 9th and 12th). Plus I have a cup game against a Premiership team as well. I'm tempted to rest my key players for my cup game because I don't want any injuries or suspensions to ruin my chances of promotion to the premiership next season.
another big win but other teams above me keep winnin still 6 point gap to gauranteed safety. will meet my goals though
won 5 games in a row and have got no closer to the teams above me...
Checked my result this morning - not only did I win but the teams above me lost so I'm now 1st outright!
3 games to go....
Still 7 points behind now so heading to relegation playoffs.... How do they work?
The promotion/relegation play offs consists of two rounds:
Round 1
match 1: #2 vs #3
match 2: #4 vs #11/12/13/14 from a higher division
Round 2
The winners of match 1 and 2 meet to contest promotion/relegation.
So you'll play the 4th placed side from one of the groups below you, and if you win that you'll play the winner of a 2 v 3 game from below as well. If you lose you'll get relegated.
I'm still winning my group - 2 points clear, 2 games to go. 2nd place has 2 easy games left, and he's already got a better GD than me, so I really want to win my last 2 games.
Both my starting strikers, who also happen to be my 2 best players, are suspended for the next game though, so I've had to promote a couple of guys from my reserves.
Tense times!
I hope you make it!
I lost last night - ridiculously frustrating game. I had 54% possession and 11 shots to 7 but was on the wrong side of a 3-1 scoreline. I'm still first but on goal difference only and there's 3 points between me and 5th place, who I play next. My goal difference is only one better than there's too, so there's still a chance I'll miss out on the promotion playoffs despite leading the group with a game to play. On the other hand, if I win this one then it's glory days ahead. My GD is only 2 better than 2nd place so if I win but they win by 2 or 3 more than me then
I won't win the league. And they're playing the last-placed team...
Argh!

Sky Valley?
Have you checked on what quality of team is being dumped from the premier league?
No joy in getting a hiding most weeks and getting less $'s than higher up in second division.
Good luck to you. You could be playing Sir Fergie, which you should win, then a Premier team , or ex Premier team as it may be.
Probably better to finish 2nd or third if you want promotion then you get a chance to see if you can beat a Premier side , before advancing.
If you can't bet them, it's a good thing you didn't get promoted.
And in that last game a balanced 442 may have served you better. You should have won as you have a better side, although Matts keeper is a good one and your playing forward is a lower league player. Matlock Town is a far better side than the team you lost to. Good luck.

As for getting promoted to the Prem, I'm well aware the if it happened I'd most likely get trounced often and drop back down again, but the point of the game for me is to try and get as high up the ladder as possible. If I'm not playing to win then I don't really see the point. Obviously I want to win 2.4 as well, but even if I don't I still want promotion. Also, I've been in 2.4 for quite a while and a change of divisions would be nice just for the variety. And playing and losing in the Prem would at least give me a chance to know what I need to do to reach that level.
I played the 12th-placed Prem team in a cup game a few weeks ago and lost 1-0 but it was very even: possession was 51/49 and we had the same number of shots each, so I know I can at least get close to lower Prem teams on occasion.
And I disagree with your bit saying if I can't beat a Prem team in a playoff then it's a good thing I don't get promoted - what if I lose a few of my best players to injury or suspension before that game? What if I get a player sent off 10 minutes in? What if it's just one of those random ones where one side dominates but the other wins? I don't think the quality of a team can be judged on just one performance in the game.
EDIT: sorry if that post came off as a bit defensive - I was just trying to put across why I want to win these games
I hope you make it!

No worries. Just I have bounced up and down with others teams.
I agree with you that in a one off game things can go against you to not enable a true reflection.
Like I said, even finishing second, you should get a playoff against a Premier side.
Well done on the narrow loss. Could be a good guide that you may well win a few if you get promoted.
Good luck
Thanks!
I beat Matlock Town in the end and won the group on GD :)
beat whips junior team 4-0 to finish second in the league on points, but will end up getting promoted as the top team due to #1 going inactive, along with 9 others in the league.
