Napier City Rebels looking to Park The Bus against the Trains tonight perhaps?
League Banter - The Matchday thread
Managed to avoid automatic relegation with one game left in the season thanks to 7-2 victory. Will definitely have to playoff though.
Happy to be falling down the league as I don't want to be promoted! Fully revamped the squad and brought in 6-7 youth/YA players while almost completely selling off some of my best/founding but aging players while also cutting down the wage bill by about 2 mil a week.
Somewhat financially stable now. Focusing on increasing capacity and will prob upgrade an attendance or income facility at end of season.
YA pulls have been crap last couple of weeks with best being 3.5*. Hoping to get another 4.5 or 5 soon!
Yeah - should be the case at YA level 8+ huh? I'm also more careful scout every couple of years incase there's changes/increases to potential. Almost discarded a guy then 2 out of 4 scouts said 4.5 pot and other 3.5 and 4.0 respectively!
Come on sponsorship money!
Why downgrade? Maintenance costs? I upgraded to level 10 YA as soon as I could (this season). My club is cashflow positive now that I've sold on all my good by aging players. Still trying to offload 2-3 29+ year old's. If I do my avg. age for starting team will prob be around 21.
Anyway, looking forward to end of season and moolah!
Ouch, training level 10 is very $$$$$$$ indeed!
Managed to stay in the Championship with a 2-0 win in my playoff game
I don't think so - I won that game on Friday and I still haven't had another fixture pop up in my schedule....
Relegation playoffs successfully navigated.
Round 1: 3 - 1 vs. Newbies
Round 2: 6 - 0 vs. Waimate Toddlers
Round 3: 4 - 2 vs. Tokomaru Athletic FC, with Dudanec scoring a hatrick in a 10 rating MOM performance.
And a new ground record in attendance too:
Lost my first promotion play off as my defender got an early red card. The guy on the bench was a 2* midfielder so....... was a bit gutted about that as I wanted another home game for the income, but put out the worst team and tactics so I lose and don't get promoted.
Sad but true :D

still in Kiwi League 1, moved to group 8 though, will mean a bunch of teams I've never seen before. Whole lot of 'B' teams though so hopefully I'll get a chance to move up this season.
I'm in that league too! As well as a couple of others on here? Grrrivals continue!

grrrrivals indeed, what are the YF teams in our league?
Uggg. My star 4.5 central defender and captain Adrian Brock got a 9 week injury in the first game of the season, just hours after I had sold Gjergji Begolli with a view to upgrading the defence. Now instead of upgrading I'll be plugging a 9 week gap. Sigh.
Got spanked first up. Ah well early days.
managed a 2-0 win, good start but then this is usually what happens and then I bomb mid season. need to bolster my 3.5-4* team with some true class players.

you're right with that conan. I've been building the team for 10 seasons, never made it up to the next division, always sat in the top part of league 1 - slowly build the stadium up and added key players with now a lowest of 3.5* in all positions. Some good buys and others from youth academy. It is farking expensive though to get any 4.5* players though!
have you guys tried the youth transfer approach? Constantly scouring the transfer market for good cheap youths (or any player), then selling them on for a profit. That's what I did for a while there - it's bloody hard work though.

What seemed to work as an alright strategy for me for a while was buying players aged 30+ with good rec and basically having a team which wasn't great skill wise but punched above its weight because of the experience. Problem with that was that there was no development - it kept me at a certain level but because I could never on sell players I wouldn't make any money to buy better ones. Now I've cleared them out and skill wise my team is at about the same level but its performing worse in games because of the loss of rec. Anyway, I've got a few 4*+ youth prospects, a couple of which are already first-teamers so I think if I hang on to them in about 2 or 3 seasons my team should look significantly better
Ugh, man, Sunday's bad results even extend into the virtual sports world. I lost 8-0. My best defender got injured after 12 mins and then his replacement got sent off at the start of the second half.
Just F U C K
I also got spanked. 6-1!
3-2 loss last night. Sigh.
so after losing SEVEN freaking one to the Whips, the Trains are now 3 - 0 up early in the 2nd half against top of the table Torbay... which takes us to level top on points.
I can't work this game out.
7 games in and im 2nd in the league, tonight's game should be an easy win too.
So about 50 mins into my game tonight I was 1-0 up, I'd had 6 shots on target and my opponents had had none. Then they scored, one of my CBs got sent off, and now I'm losing 2-1 with 20 mins to go.
GRRRRRRR
