Rest of A-League Transfer (Now with 99% RR - Love your work)
TWO-time A-League Golden Boot Shane Smeltz has confirmed he will make his return for Gold Coast United in Sunday's pre-season friendly against North Queensland Fury at Carrara Stadium after the disintegration of his short-lived move to Chinese outfit Shandong Luneng.
The New Zealand international refused to reveal the reasons for his controversial walkout on Shandong after just five days in the People's Republic, and insisted he is simply now looking forward to resuming his United career.
''I am happy to be back involved and just looking ahead to doing what I do best, which is score goals,'' he said.
''The episode won't affect me mentally at all. I am back in training and looking forward to playing against the Fury on Sunday.''
United CEO Clive Mensink insisted: ''There is no dispute with Shandong.
''We have retained Shane's international transfer certificate and we don't believe there are any ongoing issues. We have the support of the FFA in this.''
Mensink said neither the club, nor Shane, could say more because of ongoing 'commercial issues', which could not be divulged.
Smeltz, who has not played since last month's World Cup, at which he scored one and made one for the All Whites, added: ''My fitness is okay. I feel fresh and I take a lot of confidence from how I went in South Africa.''
Changes him from an overseas player, to an asian player, so helps his career prospects alot. I guess he will be looking for a rich arab club to buy him now. Gives Adelaide another overseas slot to use aswell.
[Edit: or not, seems Adelaide already have an asian player]

THE Geoff Kellway? Who hails from Aberystwyth Town?
The Aberystwyth Town whose biggest rivals, Carmarthen Town F.C. once gave rise to the night that is called The Welome back Guppy, which is the phrase that Carmarthen Town AFC fans called to welcome Cult Hero Craig Hughes back to Richmond Park where there was a massive crowd of over 900 spectators. During the game there were events in the Clay Shaw Butler Stand at the end of the game a Football Thugz or in term Hooligans chased Aberystwyth Town FC around the ground and into the car park.
Latest is that he is hoping to be back before Xmas, maybe even November, but then he has always been an optimist in his thinking
Its gonna be very interesting to see how things go. Fine themselves effectively?
Or let teams in years coming use this as the benchmark
He could turn out alright. I like having current internationals in the league, even if it's Uganda, Indonesia or Malta.
So it's an itch worth scratching?
(where did I put me coat?....)
Coey Turipa isn't. Most likely the starting keeper for the U-20 side.
