Heading our way?!
Central Coast Mariners - Under New Ownership
Big Mac out for 5 weeks https://www.a-league.com.au/news/mulvey-reveals-extent-mccormack-injury
Want to know the state of our club? Since Charlesworth took ownership of the mariners in 2014 the club has had 18 wins.... 18 wins. What does that look like? Well 27 games a year x 4 = 108 games. Add 7 for this year. That’s 18 wins in 115 games. #CCMFC #CCM @CCMariners #Aleague

For comparison we have won 36 games over the same period, but hey #nixout.
Wow 18 wins in 115 games? That's grim!
Why not fully invest - no chance to turn a profit as a club without fans or sponsors... and constantly losing won't help.

the other thing is in football someone has to win and someone has to lose. There has to be 9 and 10 on the table.
John Kosmina suggested the other night that CCM has become a graveyard for has-beens and second-raters. Which resonates a bit too close to home if I'm honest.
Not saying the issue is that simplistic but there is no doubt that clubs need to spend some serious cash to attract real talent to be able to compete with the glamour clubs.

Even with a salary cap its not really an even playing field. The glamour clubs you speck of get more support from the FFA when it comes to the marquee players they attract, and of course they have more money to through at a marquee player anyway, along with guest contracts etc. There will always be the haves and have nots in football. CCM have done well in the past just to exist in the league and continue to do so - even if they are sharkhouse.

CCM to give up and just play their kids for the rest of the season?
Great news as our Sporting Director @Mike_Phelan_1 returns to @ManUtd. Glad that #CCMFC could help them in this time of change. Looking forward to the great opportunities this will create for our club. Mike will remain as our Sporting Director. Official announcement soon to come.

Nice to see you Ross McCormack

Maybe he isn't gonna make it back to CCM for Xmas after all ...
Midfielder has been awfully quiet in here
gee I wonder why? perhaps worried we might suggest that his team are keeping Canberra out of the comp?
Good to see some on sokkah Twitter beginning to question why CCM aren't subject to the same threats about #metrics as the Nix
but in all seriousness, look at some of the "name" players the mariners have, Matt Simon, Tommy Oar, McGlinchy, Connor Pain, Jacob Melling, Golec, Hoole. These are players that have made their names in the A-League, some have played off shore an come back. But you'd expect they'd be doing a fudge load better than 2 points. They are about to have the worst year in Aussie football since the late 90's in the NPL.
I take your point about 2 points, but Simon, Pain, Melling and Golec are all very average player. Hoole slightly better. McGlinchey hasn't done anything for 3 seasons. Oar is the only player int he squad that any other team would look at. CCM's imports are been mostly trash for the last few years too.

New Manager tomorrow??
Thought I saw the other day that they don't have a strength and conditioning person which would explain the number of injuries they have.

they may be average now, but they have been in the league for a ling time so you'd think there would be some quality there. Simon for one has always scored against us, how he's managed to be captain is beyomd me - such a grub of a player.
One of the keys to CCM's business plan was to develop and sell a player pretty much every season, they just haven't produced anyone since Ryan/Sainsbury/Rogic and it's crippled them financially with Charlesworth wanting to balance the books. Their best recent projects were Buhagiar & Wales, both left for nothing.
Atm their squad is filled with failed youth projects, guys on their last deals and NPL guys trying to make the step up.

"Thomson boasts 15 years of football coaching experience and specialises in periodisation and physical preparation. Thomson arrives on the Central Coast with an impressive track record of developing top fit teams with fewer injuries through integrating: sports medicine; sports science and strength and conditioning."
Isn't that what DK's guy tried to bring in and it wasn't very good?
They should have got a better goalkeeper.
It makes no sense that Birighitti is on the bench at City, and Velaphi on the bench at Perth.

They did it! Against City as well. This is excellent for us on the ladder. I'm really glad CCM won this, they've been hard done by with their results multiple times throughout the season so far. This should be a real confidence raiser for them. 2 more points and they beat the NZ Knights

Am gutted personally, as Knights fan I really wanted another team to take the worst A-League team ever stat off us and NZ football in general.
bolt gone from football - it was "fun while it lasted"
he should have taken that Malta contract if he was really serious.
Mulvey didn't even last until the morning, we claim our second manager's job this season
"Better than the Knights?"
Not sure about that.
