It seems all of the first round games are at community stadiums. I'm all for spreading the game around but why play Newcastle vs Perth at some ground called Wanderers oval when that is in Newcastle already? It almost seems like the FFA (or whoever) are trying to keep the competition small.
The games are played at the home grounds of the clubs so they can make money from it ... so if say Olympic play SFC they will play at Olympic's ground and Olympic keep all the gate money...
Yes, I know this. But why is Newcastle vs Perth at Broadmeadow Magic's home ground? I can begrudgingly accept that when A-League teams play an NPL team it should be away from home. Surely when two A-League teams play it should be at the home ground of the A-League team? Melbourne City are playing their home game at Ballarat, apparently Hindmarsh is out of use but what is the thing with Newcastle vs Perth not at Newcastle Stadium?
Has the FFA made a directive that no A-League stadiums can be used, even when two A-League teams play? Or does Newcastle just lack the confidence to get a good crowd?
Anyway, a very good effort from South Springvale to go through considering the level they play at.
Maybe they don't want to use Hunter Stadium because it's set up for rugby league and they don't see the need to use it for a one off football game in August that's not going to attract a large crowd?
I guess these early rounds are seen as pre-season games and of not much importance to A-League clubs in the scheme of the overall season so they're using them to 'grow the brand'? Personally I see them as hugely important - knock out football is exciting and would hope clubs approach it as something that fans want to see taken seriously.
I for one would be a little disappointed if the Phoenix didn't take our FFA Cup game as a serious game.

Its a shame we don't have TV coverage. Makes it hard to get into.
You have internet, you have coverage. I watched from my hospital bed on a laptop using mobile broadband.
It was great!
And how much did that cost to watch? $50?
I shouldn't imagine it cost me more than a couple of well spent bucks.

Crisis averted
Marco Mittiga WAS named on the teamsheet. It was changed 15 minutes prior to kickoff & the match officials were informed. All clear #ACvWSW

FFS if they screwed up beating WSW by a stupid last minute sub.

Maybe they thought that fielding an ineligible player qualifies you for the Europa league.
Confirmation - all four #FFACup games this week will be streamed live! Brilliant work by the clubs.
