The Jets just did us a massive favour there! So that means the only team who can catch us now are Sydney Fc? But they'd have to win both games, and we lose both of ours? Still possible but man that would be harsh. Can't see them edge Victory though
Ta RR you are a legend. And can we get a home final for the first week? Or has that ship sailed? Also while I’m asking questions, what are the chances of Uli breaking contract and rejoining us next year?
So a possibility our season is over in two or three games and a possibility that we could have 6 or 7 left if we do well?
2 - Sydney knock us out of Finals 3 - We lost in the first week of Finals 5 - We lost in the Home/Away stage of the finals 6 - We made the Grand Final

4th (and the home playoff) is only possible if we win our last 2 (WSW and M City) and Adelaide don't win their last (Western). Would also need CCM to drop at least 1 point in their last two (Roar and Jets).
To make the 6 is more simple, we just need Sydney to drop a point in their next two (MV and Roar). If Sydney win both, we would need either 2 draws, or 1 win from our next two.

Yeh Davilla looked a frustrated figure playing under Milicic. He'll be happy to see the back end of him. He signed a 3 year deal from memory though. But didn't he move to Sydney because his wife liked the weather there. Maybe after a summer of rain she will prefer sunny Wellington instead and he can quit macarthur under compassionate grounds. Deserves it after a season under Milicic.

Need to win both remaining games & Adelaide to not beat Western + CCM not win both remaining games. So yes but unlikely.
Be useful for us if WU don't win. Mel City beat Perth and win the PP, Then Mel City will have nothing to play for against us on Tuesday.
I don't think City rest people vs us regardless of the result, they won't play again for close to 2 weeks. They don't have anyone in Yellow Card trouble either.

I think they will. 6 games in 3 weeks (4 in steamy Thailand).
Travel to and from Thailand. Some guys will like a reduced load and may even be carrying niggles. They can have an inter squad match a week out from their playoff or play a NPL team
I wouldn't think they can afford to rest players after tonight.
That fantastic first half save from 40yr old Reddy was crucial for Glory's eventual win.
Bugger. 4 games in 2 weeks in Thailand plus travel, probably meant some heavy legs in Perth.
Still with the top 3 sides all being Victorian based, the GF is highly likely to be in Melbs no matter what, so no huge benefit in actually finishing season in first for City. Though yes an advantage in finishing in the top 2, re first week off with playoffs.
If Sydney beat Victory (45 pts, GD +14) Friday, and Adelaide beat Western U (45 pts, GD +11) Saturday - then Melb City (46 pts, GD +21) win the league no matter what. Even 2 draws would see City prevail on GD. In which case I think City will definitely rest players against Nix (Sunday), given that tired show against Glory.
If I've read the schedule correctly Perth beating City is mixed. On one hand it means City will have something to play for in the last match (vs the Nix) as they will not have already wrapped up the premiership. On the other hand... Victory can now potentially win the premiership and their match against Sydney means something for them, which is good for the Nix as if Victory win (or draw) Nix are in the 6 regardless of our other results.
We could just make it easier by beating WSW though!

No as above City could already be premier winners, if both VUC & Western U either lose or draw their away games Fri & Sat, prior City verus Nix on Sunday.
But yeah Nix beat WSW, and other results, what team City put out etc all irrelevant
A nice sequence of results would be Nix (go to 39 pts) beating WSW SFC beating/drawing VUC Adelaide (go to 41 pts) drawing with Western U - which would guarantee Melb City the title on GD, so hopefully resting players against Nix Nix (go to 42 pts) beating a 2nd string Melb City
This would give Nix 4th spot and a home playoff. Longshot I know.
Perth showed the rest of the league that City are not unbeatable. Glory have nothing but pride to play for, the wooden spoon is already in their cabinet. They beat city with only 39% possession and 5 shots but 3 on target compared to City's 25 shots and 4 on target. A good solid defense can beat City.

Yipe but there is no doubt Melb City would have been fatigued and not at their best, after playing 4 ACL games in 2 weeks in hot & sweaty Thailand.
Beating a fresh City side, in Victoria a far tougher test.

True, will they be without Goode though after his red card? Or is there a game in between now and our game?

No they only have Nix game left, so I presume Good will be suspended. Did he get the 2nd yellow on purpose against the Glory, so getting suspended for the Nix, rather than a later playoff game?
Good will get the 1 match ban for a second yellow card. He was in no danger of triggering a yellow card suspension from accumulation (on 3 before the game, 8 is needed for a ban now) & getting a second yellow card to get sent off is of no tactical value as the 1st yellow doesn't get included in your totals.
Is there a point in the playoffs where the 8 yellow card suspension threshold is dropped? Or is it worth Ball getting a yellow tonight so he serves a suspension (rests his toe) before the play offs.

Cards reset in the Finals. You get 3 yellows in the Finals, so would have to pick up a yellow in every match to miss the Grand Final (1st & 2nd will only play 2 matches, so all their players are safe).
Oh bugger off Andy Harper. Keeper of the year yes Birighitti maybe but Jamie Young was giving away goals on a platter just a few weeks ago, while Sail has been outstanding all season.
Sometimes I think these guys only bother watching the game they are getting paid for.
