From the couple of Manukau home games I have attended this year, lets just say I'm not surprised.

^ This - I know everyone wants a south auckland team to succeed - I do for the better of the sport as well.

But this can't overshadow some behaviour issues that have existed with particularly Mangere in the past and still seem to be hanging around - also Kevin blame shifting every 5 seconds on facebook is not helping, might be a great coach but he is not helping the image issues.

So this has happened multiple times this season apparently. NRFL doing anything about it? Gonna serve them a points deduction, or relegate them? Nah of course not.

Didn't see the game, even though it was played here in Papakura for some reason (probably because McLennan Park has lights?)......Fallon blaming Three Kings but, like you 20Legend, I am also aware Manukau have a history of this.

Could we now have an El Fightico?

Everybody seems to be wanting to hang Manukau out to dry but, from everything I've read, it would appear that the whole mess was started by a TKU player throwing a bottle at someone. Not excusing anything that happened or taking any sides, because it's a shambles that neither club comes out of well, but I think I'll wait till the whole story comes out before I start lobbing grenades at anyone

I guess if you blame shift enough then eventually you will get a scenario where you are right to blame shift - law of averages.

As I say, I've heard some very dumb comments aimed at players in the few Manukau home games I've gone to watch.

(I'm not excusing anyone!)

That said, FHM v North Shore got abandoned today after a spectator swung at a player - allegations of racial abuse too.

So these amateur shambles of clubs who all believe they can be national league clubs can't even separate players from spectators. Maybe if they stopped paying has been hacks stupid money and invested in basic facilities it would help. And unfortunately FHM have had an unsavoury element to the men's side of the club for a long time

if you are talking about Manukau as an 'amateur shamble' of a club remember that game was at McLennan Park... Centre Park has excellent facilities.

Apparently Sam Burfoot posted a video of the Manukau incident to his Facebook page.

Anyway I haven't seen it, but apparently the player who was red carded was trying to help a spectator up a bank. But the spectator took exception.

Wtf?

Funny to see the coach getting up in arms and blaming Auckland for them being locked out. League needs to be announced in October, date clearly set, WaiBOP unable to play any catchup games to get finished in time?

If WaiBOP federation knew the deadline all along then it's entirely on them not to have scheduled the catch up games.

The fact that until recently Div2 was on the cards to be scrapped for 2019 just adds to the uncertainty surrounding the whole situation.

I for one, was looking forward to a Bohs v Papamoa play off series.

Congrats on the promotion Doloras - the good news is that you have at least a few months to work on your fitness to dominate Prem Reserves.

NRFL has gone to shark this year.  It started with the poorly timed and ill thought out review doc end of last season (by the way is there any follow on from that?).   We have had First teams and reserves defaulting games.  Pitch standards have been at an all-time low.  The promotion for div 2 next season has turned into a finger pointing exercise with no one taking ownership of any of the above.  The quality of the football is not up for debate here, it is the obvious lack of administration and how unprofessional they are.

I'm glad my time is up in this league as it is a shadow of what it once was.

My apologies,  in my rage post I seem to have made it up that a first-team defaulted.  However, my points still stand.

There are fines as I understand for forfeiting games.

So, and if I'm reading this wrongly I apologise, you are blaming the NRFL administration for clubs not fulfilling Reserve fixtures, for poor or sub-standard playing surfaces (which the Club may actually have no control over) and for what seems to be an issue between the WaiBOP Federation and their clubs? Hmm.

I'm not defending anyone, by the way. Genuine question.

Last year Metro defaulted their game against Melville at the end of the season if i recall correctly, although that was probably more of a mercy default. Nobody wants to lose 37355474 - 0.

I know quite a few Metro games had to be rescheduled this year, but not defaulted. Hmmm, it seems that building a motorway tunnel under a football ground might not be great for ground quality. Who'dve thunk it.

As a club official who values a close working relationship with AFF I will keep the finer points of my thoughts about AFF between us.

However I think it's obvious to most people that AFF was under-resourced this year, and there are a lot of facets to that including a new fixtures system and the resignation of the NRFL manager during the season and the fact that AFF are coming into this season on the back of a tough financial year and costs needed cutting.

NRFL in my mind wasn't where most of the issues lay this season - some things were better than last season, some things a little worse but by and large NRFL boxed on and any issues that were majors (like grounds) are mostly out of AFF's control.

Hope that covers it.

Auckland Council, however, should be given a proper bollocking for the mess they made of several pitches in the South and at Onehunga around the start of the season.

Digging up a part of the pitch sideline on the Thursday before a game?

Spreading a really nasty grass fungus across more than one playing venue?

And, did I hear right, they topped and re-sowed OM's #1 a week before the season as well?

Come on chaps.

Councils insistence on re-sowing fields with couch grass is another aspect that does my head in. Turns into a brown and bobbly mess over the winter when it's most needed to be functional.

right yeah I forgot about the Ventia disaster - how come the council are the only ones who look at tenders and think the cheapest one is the best option, while the rest of us know cheap means crap?

Auckland Council the only ones? This whole country operates by rolling with the cheapest tender so that they can say they're 'financially prudent'. This is the main reason we have the infrastructure that's not much better than a third world country's in some areas.

They don't tend to post squads lists up like I have seen for the central league - however if you follow the NRFL page on facebook or twitter they post match squads from comet before each game.  If you can't find one let me know and I will post a sample.

I believe the final fixture between Oratia and Waiheke first teams did not happen this year. Default? or agrement not to bother.  Eitherway not good enough.

Jag I do hold the NRFL accountable.  I understand they have a full-time staff member there and a handful of partimers contributing.

Yes, I agree the pitch issue is a prickly one,  however, believe the clubs discussions with the councils would benefit from having NRFL assistance.

I also believe the defaults of matches reflects poorly on the NRFL.  If any penalties get inforced are they enough to actually care?  This year Melville United let their reserve team play a school tournament over a reserve game.  I would guess they didn't end up paying the fine.

Years ago I remember playing in a game a Madlies farm when the referee stopped the match because he believed a spectator was drinking.  It is now commonplace at most grounds that people are drinking on the sideline.

I also believe (and hope) that the two assaults this year were isolated incidents.  However, they were handled horribly by NRFL.  With the internet and social media, why is transparency is at an all-time low?

Choppa,  I appreciate you are required to keep a working relationship with the league and respect that.

It all comes down to the league losing its mana.  Noone cares for the league.

Any problems are dealt with in the way the Waibop promotion has been with fingerpointing and self-justification.  For me nothing is any different to my job.  To say we have been very busy and we tried hard doesn't cut it if the stake holders don't get results or value.  I don't care about the staff issues there.  I just want a well run league.

My final point is what happened to the NRFL review doc that was circulated last year?
