Lower Hutt win 1 - 0

Lower Hutt also won the Development Division

Lower Hutt City were very smart at the 2014 U19 Tournament in Upper Hutt. They named two good sized U19 squads (1st Team and Development Team) and they used HIBS College in Upper Hutt as a base between games. The Tournament Booklet highlighted that some of Lower Hutt's players were actually named in both squads.

One 16 year old Lower Hutt player named in both squads did in fact end up playing for both the Lower Hutt U19 Teams over the weekend so in theory he should have picked up two Winner's Medals.

In the main U19 Final at Maidstone Park, Lower Hutt defeated Taranaki 1 - 0. In the Development U19 Final at Awakairangi Park, Lower Hutt defeated Petone 8 - 7 on Penalties after being 1 - 1 at FT.

Lots of good photos of Tournament (and not just of LH Teams) on LH City's Facebook Page.

Nice work LHFC, nice to see youth development is still a key philosophy for the club.

Bays very strong 7 Nz 20 s players should win it...

Three kings and Hamilton both capable of winning it... Very hard group. Waitakere poor

Who are the teams to beat I the Satellite draw.
It seems in previous years Eastern Suburbs, Hamilton Wanderers have been promoted and backed it up by performing in the main draw. Last year Western Springs got promoted with a good side.
Albany were one of the sides that got relegated.

Group of Death: East Coast Bays (NZ U20 players) Three Kings (defending champs) Hamilton Wanderers (rumoured to be good) Upper Hutt (not sure if they are decent or not) Waitakere (might be a bit young I hear...) Wellington United (again not sure) Looks to be a tough group though.

And Messenger makes 7 from the Wanderers/u20's squad!!

ECB's have to be short priced favourites to take out the Napier Tournament with that fire power.

Very much the group of death! Upper Hutt id imagine would have a fair chunk of players in the heartland youth and got promoted from Satellite (teams in previous years have done well in main draw). United though finished way down at Upper Hutt tournament so maybe at the bottom of the heap in the group. They'll need to target a few games to get points to survive.

Hamilton Wanderers are not as strong as they have been the last couple of years. Cam Attwood is back as a guest player. Birko look to be there or thereabouts again with a nice mix of 1st teamers and reserve players

Are Ohehunga and Forest Hill the teams to beat in Satellite? They had reasonable first teams didn't they as well as Nike Cup in the past?

Who else? Cambridge, Melville, Metro?

Victoria Uni had a good Satellite in 2013 (2 wins and 3 draws, including a draw with beaten-finalists Wharfies). It'll be interesting to see how we go this year.  Drawn with Havelock Nth, Melville, Metro, NPBHS, and Papakura.

Melville feature six players with northern league experience - though in a couple of cases that amounts to just a few matches.

First team "regulars" included are Dan Goodwin, Luke Searle, and Paul Clout, while guest player Nate Kinney was a starter for Ngaruawahia.

Bradley Rea and Ahmad Zammit have also had first team runs, while keeper Ryan Watson has been on the bench.

At the younger end are promising lads Liam Hayes (son of Dave Hayes) and Lachie McIsaac (son of Tony McIsaac).

In warm-up matches they beat Cambridge U19s 4-1 and the Melville Fed team 7-2 (I think).

Goodwin, Searle, Clout, Watson, Kinney, Hayes and Matt Wheeler are in the Waibop youth league squad.

Melville are coached by Colin Rea, assisted by Tony McIsaac.

Hope this helps.

Rumour has it that Melville in the Sat draw may have more than the allowed 2 guest players. One team in their group has supposedly questioned it....

OE Nik: Melville have just two guest players, Matt Wheeler and Nate Kinney.

Think you will find it is Victoria that played an extra guest player to make up the numbers so they could continue to compete in the tournament, and advised officials.

Melville checked out and all OK

Vic Uni have more than the allowable Guests but are playing for experience only - all teams aware of this.   Better than having them withdraw and a bye included
