No mention of a second binning in Gavins match report?
Mainland Premier League
If you missed it don’t you think it’s possible Gavin did too? No offence to Gavin his reports are great but they don’t cover everything that happens in every game do they.
Given sin bins are usually for arguing with the ref, is there a problem in team attitude or just 3 one-offs? Looks like they have been doing well up to now.
a sin bin cost Ferrymead Bays 3 points at the weekend

Yes I totally missed it, did not see the second 'sin bin'
Not sure where you got your facts from Ronaldoknow. The western player was sin binned and didn’t just walk from the field.
The other laughable moment in the game was when the score suddenly changed to 3-2 just before half time in favour of Western while Alby was tending to Storer? Must have caused a brain explosion for the Bet365 guy who then spent the next hour running round and round the ground. Funny as. Actually I think I might have made that up as well SWAR.

The guy running around was not the 'duty' guy supplying the updates for the betting sites, there was other guy doing the 'live' updates as the guy doing the 'laps' left pushing his motor scooter away down Sheppard Place well before the final whistle.
We are playing very nice style of footy but are losing games. I reckon we should go back to back 5 park the bus?

Go Well Aaron Spain
After the Chatham Cup game we bid farewell to Aaron Spain. Aaron heads back to Australia to play professionally for Geelong again this season after helping the team gain promotion from Victory State League 1 last season. With their promotion to National Premier League 2 Victoria league this season, it means Geelong can only name 2 foreign players. After an anxious wait Spain finally got the call to go back and play this season. Obviously he will be missed but it is so pleasing to see Coastal players go on to bigger things especially someone like Aaron who has been with Coastal since in was founded in 2007.
Good luck mate from all of us at the club.
Yep good luck Camel.
Keep working hard, you've got a bright future in the game but for goodness sake next time you're through on goal or even sniff half a chance pull the bloody trigger. Michael Jordan missed every shot he never took, same as you :) Go well!!

Another hum-dinger heart-breaker against Tech again yesterday. I don't know how it continues to happen each year...

Coastal have lost to Cashmere Tech in 5 of the last 6 Chatham Cups, the last 2 times on penalties.
Does AllWhites82 have their English Cup head-to-head record since 2012, when Cash Tech were formed?

Hearing plenty of people say that Coastal have improved from previous years. Still not beating Tech in the cups, still battling for 2nd-4th spot in the MPL, same coach, same players.... How have they improved?

Go back a little further to a memorable night in English Cup:
Coastal Spirit 8 Woolston Technical 3
Wellbourn hat-trick; even the addition of Cashmere wouldn't have made a difference that night.

Good effort Coastal. To go to Garrick and batter them like that and deserve the winnis a huge improvement. Unlucky
Big trip that.
Great game to watch and be involved with. Both teams need more of these. Congrats lads and well done Coastal.
Tech keeper Brendon Hall made a terrific save but it was not a surprise at all. 18 months on the bench and he steps up.

Penalty save at win the game was great but the finger tip save to turn the ball over the just on half time from JJ was class and a game changer.

Into extra time in tonight's English Cup game between Selwyn and St Albans Shirley which finished at 1 - 1. SAS looked to be heading for an upset when leading into the final few minutes after a scoreless opening half with the Stallion's coming back strongly just before final whistle to level.
Selwyn now leading SAS 2 - 1.
After extra time in English Cup 1/4 Final and Selwyn win 3 - 1

I was lucky enough to miss the 1st 87 minutes and arrived after a meeting a couple of minutes before the equaliser. Selwyn were absolutely dire, and I have been told that was the good portion. I'm glad i missed the 1st 87 minutes as I would have probably lost my shark watching it.

Accurate. Selwyn have a knack of stepping up for the big games only....
On a positive two more youngsters given a chance in starting lineup Stallion debut.
Haha yes Stallion!! What I would say is that if Taco and Dan have good games then Selwyn are a very good team. Simple

New woman on the scene for Dan may well affect his onfield performance.
She’s a stunner so we’re all good with that.
I've not posted in a while and this might not be the right thread.
The following topic i've shared with many over the years is why are we not getting our players in the world cup age group squads for males, my concern is not directed at the feamle side of the game because as a region we have batted well above our weight with the amount of players from Canterbury that get in various nz age group squads, i've seen the u17 and u20 male squads that have recently been announced and , to my knowledge but might be wrong, none have been through our systems or clubs in Canterbury.
this is not directed to any one in particular but as a football community why are we not getting players in these squads.
we roughly have 10% of the population so should have at least 2 players in the squad.
Thoughts
Joe Bell from the under 20's played for Ferrymead as junior. I think he went through the APFA academy in Lincoln before going to the Phoenix academy. Callan Elliot played his junior football in Nelson. Obviously what we're doing here is not working. Interesting to see multiple players from Western Suburbs in the 17's. The Ole academy seems to have the answers.
Hi Broonie
First time posting so be kind.
I think this is a massively important question that Broonie raises, what has changed ? why are we no longer getting the same number of players into the NZ rep teams that we historically have ? been out of the game for a while, so can someone tell me what we doing diffidently to the other federations in terms of youth development.
Does our local governing body have to much input ?
Do we need a centralized academy along the lines of the ole ?
Which clubs have half decent youth development programs ?
Lots of questions I know, anyone got any answers to the above.

Hi, one of my regular moans - I don't see it getting any better soon now that Mainland are working with the new licence / elite club model. The players coming through 13th and over and picked via Mainland FTC are going to be the ones that can afford the new ridiculous fees charged or imposed, not neccesarily just the most talented. There are planty of players who did reps now playing outside the premier youth leagues.
Not even thinking of how many will burn out or get fed up when they MUST train 3 days per week minimum and not bve allowed to play with their mates in thye school comp.

Is Matt Garbett (one of the Wests boys in the U17s) not from down your way?
Since the Asia Pacific academy relocated to Wellington and hooked up with the Phoenix are there any others down there besides Christchurch United?
