Was talking about this at the came today as the Hawks were at $26 for the win, late last season was told the Western were at $40 for the win in one of the rounds.

Where are you guys finding live scores nowadays? Twitter seems to be randomly supported by some but not all clubs, as is Facebook. I see Chch Utd do theirs on Insta, it all seems a little haphazard and if Bet365 doesn't have it then I have no idea where to look. Even Mainland hasn't posted the weekend's results on their Facebook page.
This should be driven from Mainland (the top). Why don't they provide the tools to ensure clubs are able to do this. Surely this can be done through who has responsibility to officially record results. This should then be automated to be posted so interested parties can see results in a timely manner.
The gossip, rumours, opinions and reviews seems to be dropping off over the years so here are mine after the first 3 rounds in order of current position placing. It has been good being able to watch multiple games over a weekend, only issue is when it will clash with my game!
Chch Utd: Deffo better than last year, however with 12 new players out of 20 that was always going to be the case. McLay looked good in the middle and took Tech to a close one on Friday. Will probo be up there in the top 2/3.
Tech: I still can't work out their lineup. No Mitchell, Yuya or King in the first 3 games means they aren't anything as powerful as they should be. Considering they are basically Canty Utd you would have thought they would be rolling in.
Coastal: What a team, lol. Losing our two Canty Utd players to the new Canty Utd deffo hurt, but have been replaced with good/better players. New centre back looks solid as does little brother of a camel Spain. Big test this wknd against Tech, no doubt the superstars mentioned above will be back!
Bays: Ragged would be one way to describe I reckon. Everything seems really fast and disjointed from the 2 games I have watched, with the sideline being more entertaining than the football. Love that Murphy is still playing.
Nelson: haven't seen them since they decided to default. :-)
Nomads: also haven't seen them....
Selwyn: Disjointed as well, with some good players speckled about the team. Comes unstuck when the ball goes to one of the not so good players. Last night's game they were hurt by a stupid tackle resulting in a red, plus some lucky breaks. Hit the crossbar in the last minute too!
Halswell: Gonna be tough from the bottom, where they will probably stay. The match against Halswell should be interesting. By the looks of it this season may be a toughie but there were signs of promise. Scored 2 against Coastal and Nelson and 1 against Tech so goal scoring may not be the issue.

Can someone explain the promotion/relegation for the southern league (i could prob look and find it somewhere on the internet but im lazy). I understand who qualifies for what but if you come bottom of this years 1 round Southern league do you get relegated for next year or is there some sort of play offs system?? or is there no relegation this year?? If there is no relegation, what are the teams that didnt qualify for this years Southern league playing for??

Today's WPL game has nothing that I can see.
Tribe app on phones is pretty good
Yer, the Tribe app is bloody good, not just for football either. It's one of my go-to apps. Not sure about your city but for us it's not always live with updates, only at the end of the game.
I did stand next to the Bet365 guy at last night's game it is fascinating watching how they update the plays and where the ball is at.
Mainland looking to clubs to use the Tribe app for scoring updates. Official club members will post updates. I believe the logins will be linked to Comet for player names/numbers etc.The JourneyFan

Some teams seem to only update things when they win too!
Even when teams are posting things they aren’t following the directive from Mainland with the hashtags etc it’s going to be tough to get things sorted!
If you want New World Championship updates the Parklands Facebook page always has these 😉

I don't know what's happening with the Mainland league, but I will explain what's happening down south because Mainland is probably doing something similar.
So once the eight team FS Prem finishes, top three go off to the SI League, bottom five play amongst themselves in the "Southern Championship". Once those leagues are done, the Football South team that finishes the lowest in the South Island league plays off against the Southern Championship winner for the right to play in the league in 2022.

And I think the exact same thing happens for the MPL teams.
The lowest placed MPL team in the Southern League does the same against the winner of the CCL/Qualifying League. I can't remember if it is a straight swap or there is a 2 legged playoff however I'm sure BenchWarmer will fill us in as he already has his eyes set on that place!
I have access to the documentation somewhere but I think the winner of the top 3 CCL/ bottom 3 MPL qualify for next season directly otherwise it removes the point of the CCL this year
Vim re next season NZ Football would like the Southern League / Conference (SL) to be ten teams to mirror the format of the Northern and Central Conferences so if this does happen the five teams that make the SI this season will be guaranteed a place in the SI for 2022.

Oh wow, ok. So in 2022 the top 5 from MPL 2021 get in, plus 3 from Otago (as it sounds like there is a playoff from the other thread), plus 1 from the CCL/bottom 3. That makes 9...

I thought it was eight for 2022, with a view to 10 from 2023 (which is dumb IMO, it should be eight, potentially with the CL reducing to eight and the NL reducing to 10).

It's going to be 10, 3 from Football South, 7 from Mainland. Agree with everyone here that it's simply too big but hey, clearly NZF wanted their way.
Especially given that only 2 teams qualify for the National League (less than from the other regions), I think 8 teams is perfectly reasonable.
Clearly NZF has paid scant regard to current SI playing strength in arriving at this decision, which is seemingly based on timetabling convenience re synchronising the three regional leagues. A two-round 8 team Southern Regional League would finish 4 weeks ahead of the other two leagues. This provides a window to then play for a South Island "Cup" - split into two groups of 4 , each play 3 round-robin matches and then the group winners play for the Cup. The SRL + SI Cup would therefore comprise 69 matches, which would be a reduction of ~25% in travel costs compared with a 10 team SR League; it would align with the schedule for the Championship phase and would avoid an unnecessary dilution of playing strength. lsmith1001

Alternatively just play a 3-round South Island League?
Will be interesting to see how the play-offs - bottom three from the MPL and top three from the CCL takes into account the winners from the Nelson Bays and Marlborough Division 1 Leagues if they both wish to try and play in the Southern League in 2022, as travels costs will no longer be a millstone around the clubs neck.
Tonight's scorers; Christchurch United 4 (James McClay - pen, Michael White, Benji Lapslie, Michael Gealogo) Ferrymead Bays 1 (Ryan Stanley) HT 1 - 1
Not gonna lie, Christchurch United and Cashmere both looking pretty clear favourites to advance to the National League at this stage, nobody really getting near them atm.
I absolutely love how Football plans to succeed and then immediatley heads down a rabbit hole! :) So much self interest in todays modern administration.VimFuego
So to summarise... does someone actually know what the deal is? We're not just making it up as we go along are we?

No and Yes
I spoke to someone else involved in MPL over the weekend and here is his take on how it works.
The 5 MPL teams that make the Southern League in 2021 are also the 5 teams that make the Southern League in 2022, there is no MPL. Then 2 come up from the CCL/Bottom 3 (not sure if that's just the top two after the round-robin, or the highest CCL and the highest of the bottom 3 MPL) to make 7 in total. Then add the 3 Southern teams and that makes ten.
Not sure if that's the truth, but it's another take on it...
