Surely he'll be back again by Friday?
Central League
Was he "red flagged" & Olympic didn't want to run the risk of having to protest against themselves!
Not Qualled!!
"Family commitments" the new code for doesn't have a C Licence now.........:-P

He has a young family and lives up the coast, seems a fair enough reason.
rumour has it that a number of last seasons stop out players also won’t be returning.
Martin Garcia leaving Island Bay, coming to Olympic?
^^^ If you have a mortgage, lump it on, but maybe not as Central League coach. Cap Prem? I overheard at Team Wellington against Canterbury, some Olympic affiliated people mentioning Brett Angell...

Olympic appoint Martin Garcia as "Director of football" which means Central League manager and some other stuff
Martin will be the Head Coach of our Central League Team and work closely with Matt Kolic and his Capital Premier Team.

Martin will assemble a Central League side which you will again be able to get behind and be proud of. We will mix youth with massive amounts of experience.
2019 Capital Football yearbook has been released
(includes all Men's grades but I'm too lazy to put in other topics)
So what rumours have we got for teams this year before the season kicks off? I see teams are putting out their calls now for pre-season. Then we will have the Hilton coming up soon.
Did hear that leagues are no longer going to be called Cap 1 through to Cap 11 but instead Wellington 1 to Wellington 11 to bring them in line with other regions.
The majority of teams will not be entering their CL teams into the Hilton. They’ve got their own thing organised.
Grades are now CL, Cap 1-4 and then Cap 5 down will be called Wellington 1 etc. Its to match the Wairarapa/Kapiti format.
No compulsory promotion from Wellington 1 (Capital 5), instead
there will be a three way play off from each region, if teams choose
to participate.
Guessing that’s to try prevent teams from dropping down to cap 11 instead of being promoted to cap 4 and losing rolling subs etc.
Never fun coming up against those teams.
And I'm told a former Main Man is just waiting in the shed for the teets to align to step back in.Coaching appointment in #Wairarapa, New Zealand. @wairarapaunited have announced former @TasmanU Head Coach Davor Tavich as their new Head Coach for the upcoming campaign.

the teets aren't alligning anytime soon from what I've heard......
Davor is a fantastic coach, the only times Tasman have looked competitive is when he's been head coach, and he's assistant at the moment. Did a decent job with my U16 rep team a while back, but think this might be a little different!
Think this is a very good move from Rapa.
Very different. Rapa have some top young talent I think, but was tough last year and will Ifill be back? If not, could be a very long season.
NZ, it’s been a pleasure ??
I have had the opportunity to play with/against some quality footballers & also meet some top people.
Massive thank you to everyone that helped me settle in and make the last 18 months as enjoyable as possible! pic.twitter.com/L4neuc2Lvj— Ollie Bassett (@OllieBassett28) January 29, 2020
Off to another higher paying Semi Pro League - overseas
Heard there's some games over the next few weekends with Olympic, Stop Out, Karori & Miramar in a friendly round robin set-up for pre-season?
Yep, starts on the 15th.
Stop Out vs Wests is at Petone Memorial, 2pm KO. Don't know the other game.
North Wellington have changed their colours and logo
Personally I think its a shame when clubs choose to ignore their history - The Maroon and sky blue that they used to play in came from 1954 when the club was founded as Johnson Villa by English immigrants from Birmingham who were Aston Villa fans. They merged with Onslow in 1972 to form North Wellington. Onslow Juniors stayed seperate so they could play in the Wellington Junior competition rather than the Mana one and there was always supposed to be an affiliate type relationship and despite many of the North Wellington players coming through the Onslow juniors, it's never been a great relationship
The new colours used by most other Johnsonville sporting codes
As for the logo I can't decide if its trying to be Western Suburbs or a hark back to the National Party in the 1980s!
100% National/Conservative party logo. The typography is not good.

Edging closer to Tasman United's colour scheme.

Never mind the ignoring of club history - bring back the North Wellington Fans Facebook page! Now that was entertainment.
Did someone get paid to come up with that or did one of the youth players do it for a year 9 graphics assignment?
so North Wellington have found themselves in hot water over another issue...
Magno Vieira in his role as NAGT Coach for the 16 Boys, using his position to pressure and influence kids to come and play for North Wellington in the winter. Emails, phone calls, offers of money to help out. All unsolicited, all turned down.
The ethics of approaching underage kids are undoubtedly in question here. Calcott calling the shots behind the scenes and Magno the fall guy?
CF's response? A wet bus ticket.
Clubs are mandated through TDP to make their players available for selection for this. Perhaps unaffiliated coaches are the answer?
Remind me, who is the chair at Capital football these days?

Inept and corrupt leadership will only further embolden such behaviour. A disgrace.
so does Wests/Ole need to make their players available for NAGT? LH/Nix?

At least he's picking players from other clubs.
In my day the coach just picked all his own players from his own club and snubbed everyone else.

Picking players with the intention of influencing them to move to his club? I know which one I would prefer.

As a player... it would be getting picked.
Also, as a player I would follow the coach in a heart beat. A coach who believes in your is more important than anything.
For the record I don't think this is acceptable!

As a player it would be getting picked on talent
The talent which Magno decided could benefit his club. These are 15/16 year old kids we are talking about. Many of whom were upset and unsure as to what to do.
CF failed in their duty of care to these boys.
Players deciding to follow a coach they had a great rapport with is a markedly different situation.
When a coach undertakes an unsolicited approach, where it is unwelcome from the players perspective, is a concern.

What’s the rules and repercussions in the contract?
Just to be clear, I don't think this situation acceptable...
so does Wests/Ole need to make their players available for NAGT? LH/Nix?
Making them available and the players wanting to do it are two very different things.
I'd say NAGT is completely irrelevant to those two sets of players.
In my day the coach just picked all his own players from his own club and snubbed everyone else.
It's no different now.
