Can anyone fill us in on how the hell North Wellington lost to Wellington United whenever that happened? Seems the craziest result given my observations of the two teams playing.

i recall NW had some issues with discipline and picked up quite a few cards so it might of been this game or the one before so key players may of been unavailable or where sent off on the day.

i am sure gaza remembers the string of cards

Seatoun 1-1 Lower Hurt. Good result for us after losing to them 5-1 last week. Shaping up to be a tight 2nd half of the season

looks like Island bay tightened up as well.

last week they were thumped 6-1 and this week i hear they started with a roar and went 1 up only to loose 2-1 by the end

even wellington united have turned the corner with there leaking goals each week to give waterside a close game at KP.

so round 2 could bring some interesting results?

Yep much better from IBU today.
Norths scored their first when IBU were temporarily down to 10 men after CB took an elbow to face.
Then second goal was an unfortunate oggie flicking of a defender at a corner.

you pretty game

first you poke criticism at the referees re NW match and it being refs fault for poor discipline of NW players then you give NW possible kiss of death by bragging on being ahead by 8 at the turn.

i hope for your sake this dose not bite you in the bum.

It will be a Tight season and there are still 9 games to play thats 27 points up for grabs…..

some big scores this week i see and some are unexpected but still this just shows how vulnerable these teams can be in capital 1 especially if they are not a clubs first team as they are then feeders to bigger prizes at higher levels .

though miramar seem to have problems across the board this season.

cold fingers sorry 10 nil full time score. Great team effort. How did your day go.  Good win by Island Bay. Pity they don't get a chance to play North Wellington again.

island bay had there chance last week to even the ledger with NW and blew it…

though waterside will be licking wounds i am sure after that scoreline.

Thats the beauty of football….well for the top teams as in the lower divisions you only get 1 game then its 2up 2down so no revenge/better performance possible with a second round rematch..

North Wellington 10 Miramar 1 almost North Wellington's best ever score, but their best was in 2008 when they beat Waterside-Karori 11-0 in capital 1.

In 1972 North Wellington and Karori Swifts met in Central League division 3, the result was 10-5 which while not a record win for North Wellington was their highest scoring game at the time

This season looks as if it will be North Wellington's best season since the 1980's when they had future All White coach, Ken Dugdale in charge

I'm pretty sure North Wellington's best season was when they won Central 2 in 1990 under, excuse the pun, Bill Bradley

90's was the best decade with Mr Bradley and some core others/greats supporting both club and players.

the 80's had some interesting achievements but also some other results that didn't help the club in the short term but did leave some great players to be able to rebuild with.

Gary Mclean for instance was not just a player but a coach who had the respect of many in the club.

winning central Div2 and getting promotion to Div 1then building a second team to win and get inclusion in Central 3 as well as coming second in central Div1 to mention a few and even the ladies had good times with kelly cup and other achievements and it all happened in that 10 year period.

but not many of us who where involved in achieving this are still involved at management level and it is a shame as it is not hard to achieve if you have a good social spirit and follow it up with player development and some good management that follows the rules and guidelines set out by the forefathers who achieved from nothing to become one of the larger clubs and that has provided some valuable assets and posted some great achievements during there teenier.

Spartacus can you kindly take your massive chip on your shoulder about NW and take it somewhere else? I'm pretty sure the last 20 pages of this thread is just you harping on about the NW club.

Wouldn't it be amazing if we could just talk about football in these threads? If you want to talk smack, create a separate thread!

It appears that North Wellington has been a divided club for many years and even though they are now winning consistently the division continues. Given the size of the NW Club they have been under achieving for decades.

Well done to Charlie Howe who has his first "in charge"  club coaching role since his great success with Napier in the early 2000s

i and others had been but then some people made some comments that i added too no smack talk here just some facts on how the NW club has performed over the years as others made comment.

others have asked why it is still not performing and i filled in those blanks as well.

if you have other facts i have missed or have wrong please feel free to add them….

i wouldn't say decades their "whatever" but it has definitely  struggled since the early 2000's and then after the dustup and court action fell into the abyss of the 11 team league and other poor press then a ship of hope sailed into port and the top team has turned it on which is a breath of hope to many.

this ship is charlie and co as you mentioned and the players that where encouraged to come to play for the top team and charlie.

i wish him success as it means my club is doing well and this encourages the young players in the junior ranks (especially if they are the ball boys on match days)

but one team dose not make a club and their is more work to be done as depth is the key to real success as i explained previously that the club had in the 90's so then the first team could perform for promotion and then push to stay and even almost win the top local Div…..

Chopper seems to think i am talking smack but i would like him or any others to list  any post of mine to criticise a NW coach or player or even the club as a whole. i have defended my club against the 11 team statements that i read as untrue or misleading and given any facts i had available to help correct these.

maybe this should be renamed the "NW in fighting" thread and a seperate thread can be made for the other 9 (or 10 depending on legal action) teams can actually talk about football.
