Oh God. Don't give the nerds on here the notion that playing Football Manager is a football activity!

Some people believe FIFA is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.

That ban is extremely harsh isn't it?  I'd love to know how that decision was arrived at.

Am I the only one thinking he's fucking lucky to get 11 months.  Life ban is defo possible when kicking prone player in the head and body I would have thought.

Feel sorry for the kids on sideline who had to see football at its finest.

If only Capital Football was covered by the OIA.

I was there and i believe he has got an extremely light ban. I have seen a incident which got a player 10 games and $400 fine. The two incidents dont even compare. I thought Capital football were clamping down on this sort of behaviour.?

Let me be clearer, I think the stopout player got let off lightly.

No matter the provocation, kicking another player in the head, can be not justified or minimised. Based on reports this seems to be what happened.

Mike , you are intimating other things have happened. Surely Stop Out have made Cap Footy aware of all the facts upon which they have made their decision.

Both clubs involved need to carry out investigations into the actions of their players on the day. The brawl is reported to have lasted for some minutes so there were clearly brawling players who got away with it.

It's been reported that Joe has been defiant on Facebook about his actions so when he finally returns to the playing field there will be plenty more Alex McDonalds willing to have a go at him to make Joe snap again. So Stop Out needs to address this in addition to their players brawling.

The Lower Hutt side is the very same that had the well publicised controversy last year with Seatoun and after a Capital Football investigation into the game, one of the McDonald boys was suspended. Both of the  McDonald boys were sent off during the game with Stop Out and their Dad was very fortunate to survive the game. The family's disciplinary record is poor so Lower Hutt needs to address this in addition to their brawlers.

Will this occur? Of course not as both clubs will be blaming one another and when the next opportunity presents itself, the  brawlers will be at it again.

The best post so far on this issue ^. Dairyflat you say the ban is harsh and you keep asking people to share what they saw, as if your knowledge of the details varies to others on here. How about you tell us why you think it's a harsh ban?

Stop Out's Suarez?

One interesting aspect of this that hasn't had a lot of chat so far is the provocation one. 

If we assume (based on the track record of some players, and just our knowledge of life) that Gaughan was "targeted" in the match, that would be relevant to a Police investigation and/or criminal charge.

But I presume it is not considered relevant by Capital Fitba.

they would have taken context into it if relevant. Maybe they did. 

They have before with a violent incident (which I didn't agree with their opinion on). 

If you are going to criticise 'targeting' then you would probably have to look at most games every weekend. If a player gets 'special treatment' from the opposition it is up to the ref to control. If it can be proved that it went outside the bounds of playing regulations i.e. racism then it can be dealt with. 

Man marking someone is not provocation/targeting.It's football in'it.

Did the guy who received a four year ban end up with criminal charges? From memory he punched the ref?

No, but they're context.

And, it's worth noting that the 'victim' of the kicking specifically said the kicks were to the body when he was quoted in the paper.
