dosn't start until tomorrow.
Aw shot man...for some reason thought it started today.
Which team you supporting alleycat? The ACFC Facebook page will probably be updated regularly.
Good man.
How about u mate...u backing any team in particular. A gud mate of mine Eric Seekie ex CHCH united player is involved in some capacity with the East Coast Bays squad and the Onehunga sports squad will also be featuring young Liam Jordan(national league legend Keryn Jordan's son). Ex Coastal Spirit player Bryce McMillen will also be playing in the Onehunga Sports team, so will be keeping an eye on how they go as well.
Cash tech beat Central united Gold 5nil in their first game according to ACFC youth site. Gud win first up for the lads frm ChCh. Other results Waitak and FH/Milford draw 2-2, Central united blue beat Napier City Rovers 1nil and North Welly and Papakura draw 1-1.
Great start for Canterbury teams. Halswell 2-0 v Waitemata, Cashmere 5-0 v central united gold, FC20 1-1 v Onehunga/WYNRS
Good result for north Wellington, just beaten Napier city rovers 2 1
Cashmere Tech into Q/Finals(being played at 5:00 apparently). They won both games today: 6-0 and 2-1. Well done boys!
Cashmere Tech lost 2-1 in pouring rain to Central Blue...hard lines lads!
quarter finals were:
Three Kings vs Onehunga Sports (won by kings - at least 4-1 when i left)
Ellerslie vs FC2012 (ellerslie won a close game 1-0)
Napier City vs Waitakere i think (Waitakere were up 3-0 when i left)
and the last one which was on the field the furtherest away was Central vs someone in Yellow - looked like Central 1-0.
bit blurry on pool a and b (or quarter 1 and 2), i know one of the teams was Napier City - not 100% on the other teams.
Pool C and D and quarter 3 and 4 i have right..

A great tournament! (Pity about that Norf Wngtn red card but maybe I'm biased).
Tournament coverage Monday 8th April 8.30pm, Sky Sports 3.
One hour tournament highlights on Sky Sport 3 tonight 8:30pm.
Wow. Huge ups to ACFC and whoever else was behind getting this on air. Coverage was bloody brilliant - got a good sense of teams' progressions through the tournament; boys and girls covered; lots of goal action plus plenty of mid-game snippets; saw coaches at work with their teams; spoke to organisers; some 'colour' pieces with the kids, but why ask the girls which is the best looking boys team FFS. Rating: 10/10
Appearances are important.
They may prefer looking at the girls teams. Stupid question Dennis
Do you guys think a national U23 tournament would take off?
For me 13s would be the next logical step. 13s, 15s, 17s & 19s.
The big drop off in numbers is after all that, maybe something more is needed? I know when i was younger one of the goals of every season was impressing enough to represent Mana, and later going to Napier. Maybe something like this would be good at continuing that, keeping more younger players interested and focused. Or is it just a coincidence that players just magically stop playing when representative tournaments are out of the picture?
If they're good enough aged 22 they're good enough to find their natural level with club teams, from Nix, ASB & down through the Leagues. Though I do recall years ago an All White Under-23 touring team that was pretty good...
Theres got to be more done to bridge that gap between youth and mens football in general, and not just focusing on the absolute best players. Its been a problem for a long time. My last year of junior football our team was choc full of Wellington Fed and Mana rep players. Only 3 of us are still playing today. The rest never played a single game of mens football after leaving school. Just a thought.
Mainland are trialling a U21 league this year to address this issue. Only 5 teams entered (2 from Uni).

Guess they found other ways to burn energy. I was also a Wngtn age group rep. So were others in my school team. I discovered sex, drugs & rock 'roll then dropped out of football to go to Uni. Two of my team mates never made Uni but became All Whites instead. Each to his own.

ACFC 2014 Friday morning - Boys results
Chch teams going alright
Coastal get a tight win in Women's.
I see Miramar have a team. Are we seeing a shift in the tide of football at this level or is this just a Coll team under the guise of Mar? Back when I was playing at this level (not that long ago) club teams from wellington were non existent (they were all school sides)
