The tournament organisers do not know as of yet. Sky hasn't informed them but it will be announced in due course.
So glad Onehunga Sports didn't win.
Birkenhead u 17 s and u 19 s national champs...not bad
So glad Onehunga Sports didn't win.
Why don't people like this club?
Every tournament there seems to be some commentators rooting against them.

Play like they've been coached to play rugby not football half the time.

That's exactly why I dislike them, over the top aggression seems to be the common thing in most Hiroshi Miyazawa coached teams.

In regards to Hiroshi, his Onehunga team at NRFL level last year were not like that from what I saw so perhaps thats not a fair mark against the man. Can't speak for how his kids go though.
OK, thanks
Thanks to ACFC for running the tournament, well appreciated by the Coastal crew
Give me a break, why are they disliked? Because they Win or get very close to winning, and same is the world over winners attract quality. In the end they put more into their preparation and planning and with the quality this attracts they get results

I think Nike Cup and Onehunga/Wyners may have a part to play in that too.
So glad Onehunga Sports didn't win.

What a fudgeing joke of an opinion. It's because they are the best youth club over the years of the Nike Cup and produce the technically best players. Stop creating ridiculous theories.

Having met Onehunga sides coached by Hiroshi at Nike (NZ Finals) and ACFC regularly over the last few years I can only disagree. Well prepared, focused, competitive and accomplished players is the general rule. We have met others with far less ability and far more aggression.
Tremendous tournament, again, with some very good football at times. Six teams from Christchurch, two from Dunedin and Nelson, certainly could use another couple from Wellington /Palmy or Taranaki.
Would be great to have The Nike Cup played with a similar structure. Maybe 12 teams .

off the mark i'm afraid in my opinion - they are disliked (by me anyway) because they don't play by the rules and generally speaking have in the past let the Wynrs/Nike Cup thing get in the way of developing some good players at a good club - if they focused on that and not on poaching players left right and centre they would have far more respect.
Interesting to see now that Wynrs are out and the Phoenix are in - will things change?

Er, isn't that pretty much the brief of Nix Auckland Soccer school? Identifying good talent, getting them into a junior nix training programme?

Tournament show on SKY...commencing this afternoon and repeated Friday, Saturday, Sunday.
Watched the U17 Highlights Package. It was well done but footage concentrated on a small number of teams, some teams being highlighted a number of times, and did not show about half the participating teams. I think players and supporters from those participating clubs who were not shown on the program will be a bit disappointed. It would have been nice for all teams participating in the tournament, regardless of their placing, to have at least 30 seconds exposure.
Caught the last bit of the highlights package the last time it was shown on Sky - would like to see the whole thing. Have they posted it online anywhere?
Pools being announced on their Facebook page they look tough so far
Starts Friday
FC2011 look the strongest of the Chch clubs but arguably CTFC have a "better" draw
Can't see Coastal or Halswell getting within cooee of the finals.
Sports.Springs .Birkenhead the big 3 here
Some tight games at Seddon Fields today. Springs looking the goods - once again with Chris Z in charge. Thought Ellerslie's black and red stripe 'convict strip' looked interesting, like an RBB Youth - but it was only their training gear.
Norelle Sindos in charge at Sky. Found her level.
PS bar opens 4pm today & Sat. 1pm Sunday.
Springs unbeaten in their pool, Onehunga in theirs. Shaping up for some tight play off games.
Onehunga beat Coastal in last minute :(
FC2011 unbeaten and not conceded a goal
Still a chance 3 Chch sides could make top 8 which would be great.

That's just warm up tops....
Narelle has been good this year I reckon, she is still learning but has a love of football.
Congrats to Birko for getting back to back titles.
Good to see Bay Olympic enjoying the plate final......
