S-51 is great arty for its tier, but not great in the hands of a novice. I would suggest working through the tiers to learn the arty mechanics, leading shots, aiming for splash etc. Russian SPG's are notoriously inaccurate, low crew skills and no equipment would make it worse. but when they hit, ..... :) . You'll get more one shot kills in soviet SPG's than any other tank.

UK arty is a very good learning line. The Birch Gun has a turret which is good, then the Bishop is rapid fire (but ball-achingly slow) which will let you get used to (as Uber says) leading shots - no splash.
I ran my M41 last night in two battles. A 0 damage win and an 1k+ damage loss. In retrospect platting three arties into a team of reds left us a little short of carrying abaility. That gives you a slow load and im and some splash at tier 5.
Also. The M5 Stuart. What a piece of rubbish. Worst tier 4 light/scout by a massive margin.
This was my last game before unlocking my Tier 9. Got really lucky in the end as the Tiger and IS-3 both missed me when I was low health from close range.
The gun on that thing, scares the **** out of me, UG. A good player like yourself could have a lot of fun with that machine I'd imagine...
Yep, the trick is to stay away from the bigger gun. The 128 is better than the 155. more accurate and reliable, faster reload (9.5 sec even after the nerf) the 155 has a big boom, and is satisfying but the Rhm. cant take a hit and the reload time is too much of a compromise. In the above replay, my rate of fire saved me from dying as a tiger would be able to shoot 3 times in the time it takes the 155 to reload.

New 1s looks a giigle at 5. The 85 looks usable but horrid gun depression. Have not been brave enough to run either of them yet.
Looking at a KV-85 purchase...marks of excellence will be there for the taking I pressume...

One thing to watch for is the sound of a dullish thud that used to mean a bounce is now a hit. Just lost 700 hit points thinking I was bouncing stuff when I wasn't. Not helped by missing mods including Reticle.

That star - it did seem easier to get with 9.3. 'Mark of OK'? But I did play better last night. Only had one '0' blood noob...
Also, have they changed the aim/accuracy with the KV-2 howitzer? Missed some point-blank shockers last night!

Back playing DayZ as I'd finally lost my epic loot guy that I was scared to play as he had everything.

Helped out a noob by killing the zombie chasing him and giving him bandages and food to get him fit again. I've mellowed since the old days when I would have just joined in and hacked them both to death.
Obviously toilet paper is big in a zombie apocalypse. Note I sprayed my fire axe black!

Did a first tonight...AlphaZap[HIND]...was a friendly...but purposely shelled him...I had no choice...what a flog.
I did it to a fail platoon the other day. I politely suggested they might like to not do that and got a 'BooHoo' so I took 80% of his hit points.
Best of all his arty platoonmate dropped a shell on someone else for it.
With DayZ they are testing the weather and it's effects on your character.
So at the moment it's always grey, cold and raining. You are always shivering trying to drink enough booze and eat enough crappy food to keep going.
The housing is sh*tty and dilapidated, everything is pretty much f*cked up. The clothing is awful, track pants and baseball caps are the only thing you can ever find.
The humans you meet are either the shambling dead or desperate people who just want to kill you on sight.

Been playing a lot of Mount and Blade Warband -the Gekokujo mod which makes it Japan in the time of samurai and gunpowder -great graphics and a lot of fun.

Running away whilst be chased by two bandit psychos near the Green Mountain research facility.. Yeah I may have run but those 5 shots from my SKS certainly made you think twice they way you both dropped to the ground.
Tried to guide a new spawn from outside of Elektrozavodsk to meet up with his mate at Berezino. Stupid - it's about a 20 minute run and he had nothing and it was raining and he was hungry I should have known he wouldn't get half way. Also Berezino can be translated as newbie death.
Yeah I'll give you food and bandages and my goddamn can opener but I ain't going to give you a spare gun so you can shoot me in the back. That's why you should have stuck close to me.
Dunno what happened to him, just past Solnichniy, one minute he was behind me, the next gone. Zed food I'm guessing. Never even found his body to get my can opener back.
Just for laughs I've started leaving notes lying around for other survivors "Don't turn around" or "I'm watching you as you read this note" etc. I don't kill on sight these days unless I'm twitchy but it's nice to spread some paranoia.
Might not seem much...but I've finally caught up! My first 300 battles in the KV-2 were when I was a total blood noob...so my stats were totally stuffed...somewhat redeemed. TBH - the T-150 is a better tank - but the one-shot-snotting gives the greater wot joy. Maybe the greatest.
I finished last night with a one shot game in the bathtub. One shot three tanks. 2 shot a Churchill, took half a KV-1.

Just went to Balota airstrip as had not been there for ages. Just heading into the first hanger when I hear Z's so I run outside and there is a civilian and soldier one.
I get out the axe and they vanish/glitch, (tis an Alpha), into the prison building wall next to the hanger. I'm running around then these two Super Alien Invisible Teleporting Space Zombies immediately appear on top of me and deal a massive hit that fractures my arm. I'm bleeding and the hit ruins my damaged coat and makes me go "OOOOOFFFFF!!!!"
I kill them, bandage and I'm immediately set upon by two others I then decide to leg it as it's all too much trouble and I'm getting really scared.
They follow me, plus one other from Balota town to Komarovo along the coast not giving up, I did stop and wave at them though, which seemed to piss them off more, then they pick up a couple more at Kemenka and I realize I'm running out of map. I start up the hillside and there's 4 left following me - gaining all the time. So it's stop kill one, run up the hill a bit more, stop kill one run up the hill - until I'd killed them all.
Not had a decent zombie train for ages - running up hill certainly used to be a way of escaping them but they just caught up with me quicker.
Then I log out and log back in again after 30mins and the soldier Zombie from the airfield was waiting for me. As I was logging in his was hitting me. I now have a broken leg and arm the Glitchy F*cker. How did he know how to wait? How did he know where to find me???
edit: thought he may have come from the nearby military base but that was miles away. He was the one I thought I'd shook off.
They even hunt you when you're not playing...
Shit. Decided to play around last night. Shoved the KV-2 lads into a KV-85 (didn't like) and then back into my T-150...no good. Lost all my training...back into the KV-2....had to pay 450 gold to get my commander, loader, and gunner back up to par....dumb.
Weirdest game ever...entered the battle late - wireless internet playing up...then conked out for a good 90 seconds...had to re-log in..."found" my tank on the other side of the battlefield - yet completely unscathed...score was 9-12...team mates must have been cursing...then killed the last four tanks for the win with 30 seconds remaining...LOL...what noobs!

Got this, the KV-1S. Use the short 122mm. With HEAT. Makes for an expensive, but fairly destructive tank. Versing tier III-V noobs...I like it.
Tetrarch, 3 days Prem... unless you already had a Tetrarch in which case it would have 750 gold.
Tetrarch is a fun tier 2 run around tank.
Have the 1s. Have the derp. Have not run it.
One shotted a tier VI Jap medium last night at a crucial stage of the battle. Nice. Explodes a bit too much. Probably too hyper aggressive. But the KV-1S has a lot going for it. Looks great with a star on its barrel too.
I just checked my wn8 rating for last night for my past 13 games. It was at over 2,200. Does that make me world clarsh?
At over 76% excellence for the KV-1S...need to play great to get it to 85% for that second star. Thrown the KV-2 commander into the 1S. Needs his 'awareness' skill. Tempted to throw all the KV-2 boys into it...
I ran mine for the first time last night. Tier 6 battle. Didn't end well. Out platoon of 2 1s's and a Crusader top damaged but the rest of our teams were barely speed bumps.

In higher tier battles it's a real tricky one. You've got to stay in behind your stronger team mates - but still get in close enough to use derp. Which means the 1S can explode at any time. Was in about 4 tier VII battles in a row last night. Think I have four '0' noobs.
But in tier V battles - as long as you play properly - its a different story.
How to play Prokhorovka? Hate it.
I adore Prok. North West, Severogorsk. Yuck.
If you have a competent scout then 1/2. If you have an armoured turret you can run the middle ridge on the field side of the rail ine. If you have depression the hill.
Of course, if you scout you do need your team to not be shitloards.
