We would still have been nice with Vettori and/or Boult playing the whole series and then we would have beaten them. And I feel confident saying we would have won an extended test series too.

That knobhead Haddin dropping Root on 0 only for him to go on to make a 100 is what you call cricketing karma.
I watched him drop that, was an absolute sitter for any keeper - no idea how he managed make such a meal of it (would have been nice if he did that for Taylor in the final). Said at the time I hope root goes on to score a big ton so Haddin has to suffer for every run so was good news to wake up to.

to be fair, could part of it just be that he's taking a punt? He's bats down the order so is usually the last recognised batsman when he gets out. I did kind of think that was the case in the second inning of this game.

Sodhi was excellent, we really need someone to fill that Vettori shaped void in the side for ODI/T20 and keep the run rates in check. Not sure he'll ever do that but Mattress has been poor for some time now.
Really rate Sodhi, not necessarily as a one day player just yet but as a test wicket taker. Craig admittedly is doing a sterling job at the moment but give it a year and I think Sodhi will be in the test team. Actually wouldn't mind both of them if Anderson or Neesham could stand up on the bowling front
