Very sad and it sounds like his club did not manage his injury properly. It doesn't take a PhD to know that osteitis pubis needs to be addressed early and carefully. It sounds like they made him play on it and it aggravated the situation. He probably should have pushed to gave more time on the sidelines, too. Let's just resign ourselves to the idea that we're going to have to do it without him. He has time to recover in time for the WC and in my view that should be everyone's focus right now. Still only 23. No need to risk him further
Yipe but he's such a unique player for the AWs. We have never had anyone really like him before in that playmaker 10 role.
Will be a huge loss for the playoff. I'd say AWs chances drop from 40% to 30% without him just like that. Especially with Thomas also out. Think that Rojas is now about to shoot up the importance charts.
Sounds like Singh himself & Hay will do the right thing and not risk coming back too early, but at the back of their minds will be that bit of temptation if is some improvement in the next few weeks. World Cups are only ever 4 years, and big games for the AWs about as often!
But if he's not even running in a straight line now, seems very little chance in a month, he'd be able to even make an off the bench cameo.
Damn not good at all. I was actually diagnosed with the same injury a couple years ago.. took 3 months of no football plus almost daily rehab to fix. Feel for the guy and yea doesn’t look like he’s gonna feature in the playoff.
JR's medical staff? During that period around Jan-March (Singh said he first felt the injury around league restart post winter break), JR were still in the promotion hunt, but their form quickly fell away.
I'd guessing the decision to play Singh was the coaching staff, desperate to arrest their slide. The wrong thing to do, and selfish it would seem. And a bit surprised that Bayern didn't step in to prevent it. The 2 clubs are only about an hour's drive apart, so presumably Bayern's staff keep a close eye on Singh. But yeah I'm making some guesses here.
Likely helped that he got a goal and an assist (corner kick) in a 2-3 loss to Bremen back in December last year.
"On corner duties for the assist (start of highlights), and that trusty left peg for his goal (near end of highlights). Average conditions in the Bavarian sleet.
Unfortunately new Covid restrictions in Germany, and games sans fans again.
Great news! Now the focus must squarely be in getting Sapreet back to full health. This move has the potential to be so good for him, let's hope he can recover and go on to show what he can do
Hearing Sarpreet Singh has travelled to Germany to undergo a medical with a view to joining Werder Bremen. Terms have been agreed. Provided he passes the medical - which is no sure thing given recent injury problems - he is expected to sign. @NewshubSport
Sarpreet Singh's proposed move to Werder Bremen fell through. A pubic bone inflammation that would keep the player sidelined for 3-4 months was revealed during the medical checks and Werder decided against a move. Singh will now continue his rehab in Munich instead [@kicker] pic.twitter.com/UAT8KBPmto

Won't be able to go back on loan till after the world cup so hopefully if we qualify he can get himself fit for that and put him back in the shelf window
Maybe it was also worse than they expected, Singh has been rehabbing it for a while and hoped to be ready for the qualification match, so there was some optimism it would be fixed about now.
The whole thing was botched if you ask me. And bad for his PR. I mean, you don't want to get a reputation for being someone who fails medicals... From Bayern to Bremen to his agent..they all knew he was injured so why leak the news in the first place? Keep it under wraps, get him his medical and go from there. Hope Sapreet gets the medical help he needs and gets over the injury so he can bounce back, if he's fit he could be a great pick up in the January transfer window
Sad. Considering seasons end, rehab and the world cup the injury must have been worse than they thought and could see him sidelined for a while longer.

The leak was some Bremen guy at like some function (which had journos present??), saying they were signing a quality AM. Then somehow the journos joined the dots to work out was Singh. So yeah I imagine that loose lipped Bremen staffer may have got a scolding.
Times like this his move to Europe looks bloody depressing. Good first year but second year loan to a club who didn’t play him, next year missed the Olympics to impress his new loan club, then played ok but they thrashed him and he got injured, missed qualifying for the World Cup, fails medical to his new proposed club and if the all whites win in the next couple, of days may miss the World Cup.
The joys of being a professional football footballer

All of those negatives have happened but “played ok” at Jahn Regensburg is underselling him a bit for the sake of dramatisation. Sarpreet was the top assister for JR and fifth equal in the entire league despite missing a chunk of the season. Joint second top scorer at JR too and consistently rated as one of their best 2-3 players throughout the season.
So is he still in NZ rehabbing? Hopefully catching up with Wynton to sign an 82 Repliace AW shirt for me in the near future, will see if hes willing to share anything with me :)

After his Bremen medical, I think I read he was heading back to Munich. makes sense. Why wouldn't you use there top rehab facilities and staff.
