Boxall is a good player. I think it would be a step back in his career if he came back here. 0% chance he is coming back to the Nix I reckon
Michael Boxall (Minnesota United | USA)
Orlando Pirates has been mentioned on twitter. He has just had a child so perhaps there is a desire to move closer to home if SSU weren't going to pay him as much as before.
I rate him but think he will end up with his bro in Finland
Seems like he's definitetly leaving SA. Any idea to where?
Minnesota are equal bottom of the league, and conceded most goals (42) of any team this MLS season. So subject to international clearance, Boxall must be a chance of going straight into their starting lineup.
not good enough for the Nix but good enough for the USA?
Either we are crap or they are?

Either we are crap or they are?
He was plenty good enough for the Nix, but we couldn't pay him what he wanted was my understanding of it.
well the mls will publish his salary so we will see what offer beat ours
Minnesota managed a 0-0 draw at home, against Houston. Boxall not in match day squad.
Boxall and Minnesota's other new singing had visa problems, thats why they didn't take part against Houston. Should be fixed for there next game.
I hate it when singers have visa problems!
Boxall plays full 90 mins as a CB, as Minnesota lose 0-3 at home to New York Red Bulls.

Boxall is the second Kiwi in the last decade to play for the top club in Minnesota.
Nathan Knox from Christchurch played for Minnesota United's predecessor, Minnesota Thunder, in the second tier of US soccer in 2006 and 2008-2009.
Thunder folded in 2009 with Minnesota United being created to take over as the top side in Minnesota and initially playing in the second tier for six years.
Knox also played for Seattle Sounders just before they became an MLS club.

Boxall's new manager Adrian Heath has played in NZ with Everton who won the English First Div. a couple of times in the 1980's and toured NZ as English champions in 1987. Heath scored against a Canterbury XI at QE II stadium in a 3-0 win and played against an Auckland XI in a narrow 2-1 win at Mount Smart in May and June 1987.
Keith McKay scored against the English champions who fielded a close to full strength team with Peter Reid. Ratcliffe, Stevens, Steven, Watson, van den Hauwe, Sharp etc.

Everton were brought out mainly to celebrate the Auckland FA's 100th anniversary.
Minnesota smash DC United 4-0 and climb off bottom of the table. Boxall plays full 90 mins
Quick word of praise for Boxall

Do you know what happened to Nathan, I was always surprised at how he went under the radar here given he was one of only a few kiwi overseas pros at the time.

He's probably retired by now - he would be 36.
Last played in the national league for Canterbury United January - April 2013 after returning from Dandenong Thunder in Australia.
I last saw Nathan playing in a charity All Stars match for a NZ reps team with Ben Sigmund against an invitational team in a match May last year at Garrick Park.
Back to earth for Boxall and Minnesota as they are thumped 0-4 at home v Seattle
Boxall and Minnesota (leakest defence in MLS) about to kick off away from home against Seattle Sounders, who with Clint Dempsey & co are on a hot run of form 4 wins & a draw last 5 matches.
Heartbreak for Boxall & his team mates. Dempsey scores with penalty in 94th minute to snatch a 2-1 win for Seattle.

Was that Boxall who slipped for the Sounders first goal?
Was that Boxall who slipped for the Sounders first goal?
Yes looks like it was.
Minnesota pick up their first ever MLS away win with a 2-1 win over the Chicago Fire. Boxall started at CB.

Looks more like miscommunication with his fellow defender, that just outright Boxall's fault. Will still be getting to know his team mates somewhat. Also MLS a big step from South Africa's PSL.
Playing for Minnesota this morning versus Philly Union
Playing for Minnesota this morning versus Philly Union
Ends 1-1, Boxall involved in the big talking point for the second half. Minnesota was awarded a penalty & a second yellow card was issued to a Philly defender but it was overturned when sent up to the VAR because of a push by Boxall.
I didn't see a push?

Minnesota play Vancouver 2pm NZ time today.
Boxall in starting eleven.
Comfortable 3-0 win for Vancouver
