Kiwis in Aus below A-League level
Mohamed Awad from Hamilton who played for Eastern Suburbs.
Is he a Kiwi for Phoenix purposes? The sort of player we should be looking at, even if Declan might be in his ear.

He was born in the Tron, so yes.

What happened to Europe? Did he even manage to get a trial anywhere?
Just seems to have gone full circle back to his old hunting ground. Maybe thinks he'll have an easier chance to crack first team minutes up in Gosford compared to back here in Wellington...
At the time he decided to turn down a Nix contract to try Europe, when asked, Ufuk said he wouldn’t take him back if he failed in Europe before the season started. Nothing nasty, just that he (Ufuk) would be making other arrangements and wouldn’t be waiting. So probably didn’t have much choice on where he might get an A League chance

Vaguely remember that. Probably just more curious to see what clubs he had lined up to trial for. It all went pretty quiet after his departure.
Also feel that with Steinmann coming in over the past couple of days, I reckon he would've ended up spendin a lot of time with the WeeNix.
Good on him for giving it a go though, let's hope he can snap up a contract elsewhere.
