I saw somewhere that he had a hand in appointing Heraf. This true?
Anthony Hudson - Technical advisor
I notice his wiki is quite up to date https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Anthony_Hudson_(foot...
I suspected it might conveniently not be. Unless of course Dale and Patrcik have updated it ;-)
I saw somewhere that he had a hand in appointing Heraf. This true?
Yes:
"NZF chief executive Andy Martin and his board need to be held accountable for this mess. Martin was on a panel which hired Heraf, alongside former All Whites coach Anthony Hudson and former Ferns coach Tony Readings."

Now now Doloras.
Next sentence is: . The input of the two coaches in the process was understood to be negligible
I think Doloras must still be over getting dropped by Andy. During his time here she was an avid supporter no doubt wooed by his tight trousers, pointy shoes and stubble.
Nine straight losses now, an MLS record.
Always thought the guy was an impostor. Poor record, good talker, no eye for talent.
And Sc*nthorpe reportedly have him on a short list now. Win-win for AH and Colorado if that comes off.

Why would they have people on the panel with 'negligible' input?
That's either lies, or shows negligence in creating a decent interview panel.

Nine losses in a row isn't a MLS record, it's a record for the Rapids.
I believe it's either 13 or 14 losses in a row is a MLS record. Well in sights though.
Rapids are still paying their previous manager currently, so a lot of people think they can't afford to terminate '3 year deal Hudson' and get a new manager. No relegation out of MLS of course, if there was he's be out a lot sooner I'd imagine.
I'd be surprised if Scodhorpe take him.

Surprisingly a new link pops up just when he's in trouble, just reminding the Rapids he's got options. What a surprise, just wait and see how often he's mentioned in the British media

I think those big numbers were back when they had penalty shoot outs so you had to have a winner or a loser.

This Twitter thread should about sum up how dire the Rapids are under Hudson and how close they are to a few unwanted records. There's a stat for everything in here:
Seventh straight loss for Hudson, equalling the Rapids' worst losing streak in history.

And some on here think he is wonderful :)
And many think he is a self-wiki editing, expert power point, one-man-PR-machine, fast talking, tight pant wearing fraud.
And many are now like crazy ex-girlfriends, following his every move so as not to miss the opportunity to dance on his grave.
I think its more like this
The fans called him out on so much stuff (rightly or wrongly) and he literally stuck a middle finger in the air and said 'well what do you all know'. I guess in theory, 99% of people would feel that way, he just got right out in front and blasted everyone for not backing him rather than thinking it internally. Immature move in dealing with the invested parties in the AWs. The reason people are laughing now because its the chance to say 'You told us to fudge off out loud but all you have done is proven us right'. If he had shown a little more humility, he would have people genuinely supporting him.
Some things rightly annoyed people, but a lot of those people then got very emotive about that, to the point where any single little thing was a stick to poke him with. A lot of what he said at the beginning he stuck to, contrary to the narrative. He wasn't honest about the style of football he went with at the OFC nations cup and that grated me, but in terms of playing for the shirt and really caring about the AWs, he set out the stall and went at it with an iron fist from whoa to go, and I bloody enjoyed that. F*ck those players who didn't care enough to get fit, or make themselves available, as far as I'm concerned. I loved that he sent them home, or publicly told us they didn't care enough to be up for selection in his eyes.
I wasn't a fan of a lot of stuff he said, the weird wikipedia sh*t, and the arrogant attitude, but he believed he could get to the world cup, and he made the players believe they could get to the world cup, and that was good enough for me to at least support him and see where it went. I saw enough in certain games that I thought they could put it together if the stars aligned, the players all bought into it and liked him, it didn't seem impossible at all, and in reality we weren't that far off had a couple of key moments gone our way. And although clearly not great, his overall results for us were a pass mark for our level in reality, especially when the administrative body that employed him was (is) so poor.
I guess I just think it's not really worth all the teeth-gnashing, and some of the twitter carry-on I've seen just looks pathetic and petty, which is where the ex-girlfriend comment came from.
It's a well written and well thought out post Paulm.
He was however mates with Tony Veitch so as a person I had no respect for him
Yeah it is a good post. Its all rear view mirror stuff now. The guy Schmid seems to be making us forget Hudson though so thats a good thing.
well as we've seen coaches can come to our country with much worse outcomes than Hudson. I don't remember a better foreign coach in NZ, not counting Aussies and not havin watched Acfc so much

Well this is something I did not know, and am very disappointed to hear.
I know some hate it when veitch creeps into a conversation and rightly so, I do respect that, but goddammit when is that guy going to actually take responsibility??? Will he ever???
If he manned up properly on what he did he could be a real asset for our domestic abuse support groups etc. Instead he's just left this really bad blood with his dumb statements and lack of accountability, and he has nothing to do whatsoever with domestic abuse groups, despite his high profile.

AH did & said, some dumb/naive stuff.
But he left the AWs in a much better state than what he inherited. Some of that is due to him, and some just due to NZF resourcing him much better than they did Herbert.
Anyway Schmid will benefit from that - he already has really with so many of the young 2nd tier guys in India, previously capped by Hudson, and therefore already having some experience of international football.
The Austrian needs to build upon that, so that the AWs are in a really good well prepared position come WC playoffs in 2021.

Will bring this back on topic now: anyone been following how Hudson has not taking responsibility and blaming others in Colorado?

The game against Mexico showed me that Hudson and his team were capable of. But sadly I cannot think of another time when they played like this
His Colorado Rapids broke their losing streak with a 2-2 draw, but not a great result after being 2-0 up at home.
Rapids finally win with a 3-2 win over Boxall's Minnesota United. Smith with the winner in the 97th minute.

Lots of drama in that one. Minnesota down to 10 min with 15 minutes to go. Refs were called over to check the Smith winner on VAR but didn't overturn it.
Minnesota can't get a point away from home, that was their sixth loss in a row on the road.
Kiwis seem to be bad luck in the MLS.
Colorado with two wins on the trot now, 1-0 against the whitecaps.
and suddenly tumbleweeds on this forum.
What do you think he needs to do to save his job? It's quite good for the kiwi contingent for him to be an MLS coach.
Probably do better then the last coach did
Whilst I didn't like him I hope he survives and brings more kiwis into the squad
Otherwise he will be signing them for a conference team instead
Has his team had any big losses - a lot were in the last minutes of a game earlier in the season... coach killers!
Hope he does well - becasue of him we have 3 players in the MLS... other than Smith, the other two were not guarantees at all, Wynne all of a sudden is a regular starter etc. So, he's been good for us.
Apparently Wynne is starting to look like a proper MLS defender after a pretty shaky start where Rapids fans were using him as the scapegoat. Happy that Hudson persevered with him. Boxall now captain of Minnesota in Calvo's absence while at the WC for Costa Rica, he's a guaranteed starter. Smith one of Rapids' best players, Collier starting with Schweinsteiger out of nowhere, Tuiloma getting minutes. Good time for Kiwis in USA!
The thread of schadenfreude
I am 100% guilty of that
Still waiting to see when Dyer is announced as a rapids player.
Normal service is resumed with a 1-2 home loss to Seattle Sounders who were bottom of the table.
1-2 loss away to mid-table Montreal.
90 mins for Smith & Wynne.
Tried to park the bus which worked until dropping goals in the 55th & 56th minute. Then got one back out of nowhere from a set piece with 12 minutes to goal.
69% possession to Montreal and 21 shots at goal vs 2 for Rapids.
To be honest a side like Vancouver also play predominantly without the ball (only 35% possession today at home verus Chicago) - but are just better at it.
Incidentally they also have a coach from the UK (Robinson from Wales).

Though neither the coach or assistant for the Red Devils are actual Belgians.
