Would it help if we had an "ignore" button?
Would help if we had a delete button.
Thought you could have an 'anti-sticky' type function. Instead of stickying to the top of forums it'd sticky it to the bottom.
I'll bring my constructive criticism on the mods here..
I see a lot of threads locked, especially when something new happens. Like my 'Phoenix release five players' thread in the WPX General Discussion. I'm all for organisation but I think you're going about it the wrong way.
Topics are not subforums. We don't need ALL the WPX player discussions in one topic. We have a Phoenix discussion forum that allows us to create topics and then talk about stuff. It's great. But if you don't visit the forum every day you'd have no idea what discussion is going in what topic or where that discussion started in that topic.
If you really want all player news in one place, all match thread in another place etc then we should create Sub-forums off the WPX discussion forum. After all, this is a WPX fan forum and we only have one place to write posts at the moment.
Take a look at the Philadelphia Eagles forum from the NFL:
They've got the team thread that is general team talk. Then inside that they've got transfer talk, and some others for videos and general news talk.
We should implement the following or at least allow people to create new topics without fear that they'll get locked.
Reasons in summary are:
- It alientates people. It's put me off adding topics if its likely to just get removed
- Impossible for first time users to have any idea where to look for the discussions
- Discourages discussion. I actually thought no one was talking about the releases tonight until i went to page 37 of the 'off-contract players' thread. After my 'Phoenix releases five players' thread was locked :S
Anyway, just my 2c. I'm more than happy to help make the changes - I write Rails code all day anyway. Hit me up Nik or Patrick.
Thanks for the feedback.
The main reason I locked it as by the time a new thread was opened, there was about 8-10 posts in the other thread about it. Once that happens it's really hard to get people to begin posting in a newly opened thread. So generally it is easiest to let the older one carry on, and close down the new one. (especially as we don't have a move posts options atm).
That off contract thread had kinda evolved from length of contracts to who people wanted to keep around. So it was always going to evolve to chat about the released players. So I probably should have updated the thread title to reflect that and make it easier for people.
Hope that makes sense.
Once Nix and Patrick add on some functions to the forums we should be able to make it work a bit better.
Also as long as you direct a link to the discussion, it still kind of works. Admittedly in a fairly messy way.
Yeah all good. Ding be afraid to let a couple of threads run though. Naturally, the least popular ones will fall off the pages. (And they might help removing all the spam pages from bring visible) :)
Not a biggie, and I know we are all prone to spout forth with some crap language from time to time, but do need to remember this is a family show. Some words acceptable some not in my view. I for one not keen on the C-bomb being dropped in particular, and yes I know it is in fairly common usage but I would hate to see discussion plunge to the depths of MVFC forums
Thoughts? or am I just being a sensitive petal

Actually no, I love the c-word, good enough for Chaucer good enough for me. Still a lot of folk find it really offensive and therefore it should not be used here.
We used to have a swear word filter. Nik. Get us a fucking swear word filter.
Thanks.
I must admit I am a guilty party on that front *raises hand*
I don't how f**k is any different from fuck. Means the same thing.

The word "cunt" is no different from the word "twat", "fanny" "vagina" or "clunge" - they all mean the same thing. In fact, you could also add "cock", "penis", "todger", "schlong", or "Lochead" as they are all describing genitalia.
If you ban one, you have to ban them all.

Does Ginger Minger qualify?
On a side note a few years back my wife had an angina attack but my grand-daughter told everyone that my wife had had a vagina attack. Much to the amusement of the medical staff.

Todger and John Thomas.
Wonderful words and part of the rich tapestry of the English language.
Twunt, bell end and minging should also be allowed.

Never heard of a clunge before. Is that a Scottish word or something?
Its deffo British. I think I first heard it on the Football 365 forum back in the late 90's. I was going to google it to find it's origin then realized I'm at work.

Lol reminds me of the time I was around a mates house as a kid and his granddad told my mate not to go swimming in the river as it was "full of bugs, you can't see em, but they make you sick, lots of little orgasms". The daft old twat meant "organisms".
Also regarding the fiery ones. I have red-headed friend who came into work one day in quite a tight top that displayed her attributes rather well.
I said " Blimey you look just like a Ginger Barbara Windsor'. Alas Ginge has gone home but still signs her texts/emails by that nickname. Mind you my nickname was Daddy Beaver but that's another story...
Sorry off track a bit.

You would say that, Kenny.
Anything taken personal, not intended.
The wording may of been inelegant, at least let it float off to sea.
what is with the swear checker? FFS ?
Can I have some dialogue here?
what is with the swear checker? FFS ?
We were getting an increasing amount of complaints about the language of some people.
