thanks guys
Thinking of dumping sky and I already have a chromecast, so must investigate.

I thought Foal meant can you get Bein Sports on your Skybox without having Sky Sports on your Skybox... rather than any internet-based solution like chromecast...
I think you should be able to do that if you call them Foal, and it's cheaper to do that than buy the web app only (I think it's $16 per month vs $20 per month). Plus you get the web app as well as a bonus too when you buy the Sky channels.

New app has chromecast button so it's on the cards. I am doing that at the moment, just sorting out the rest of the situation (we've got all our internet, sky and a cellphone contract through vodafone which gives you various discounts, so if you quit one aspect of it, you may as well leave vodafone altogether)

pretty sure beIN is available off the basic package (extra cost) but you don't have to be a Sport Subscriber first.
With Sky, I have the basic package, NO Sky Sports but do have BeIN. Sadly, they just whacked their prices up so am now looking at ditching Sky altogether. As much as I like ya Chopah, economics is putting Sky out of my affordability.

dosn't bother me mate - I don't work on the domestic side, I will still have a job regardless of if you cancel or stick it out.
Just FYI beIN put the price up, not SKY.
Hi guys
Need a spot of help. I'm truly terrible when it comes to technology. Weird given my age but I did manage PLP easy enough.
I've got BeIN on Sky at the moment but if I can work out this app then I can pretty much dump Sky all together which would be great.
How good is the app?
Whats the name of the app I need?
What's chromecast?
Sorry, cheers.
Bein sports connect is the app. After u download it, use the sky option for logging in and enter the email/password credentials you've logged with sky in the past. Ring them if you arent sure what they are and u shud be able to work it out together. If u leave sky then u will need to register with bein direct on the net via their app or website. It is a couple of dollars more per month to just register on the app/website and not thru sky. Chromecast is a product made by google. You buy it for around $70 - $100. It plugs into an hdmi input on your tv, and you can
effectively stream your phone, tablet or laptop to it so that u can watch internet based tv on your tv screen. Its very easy to set up. Youtube, netflix, this bein connect app and others have a chromecast button you can click wen in them and it will automatically send it to the tele to watch. U can also select a 'mirror screen' option that will project the front screen of your device to the tv too. Phew that was a ramble.
so any idea what the Sky upgrade channel is? Apparently I can do it without phoning them but fudgeed if I can see where
Just login on the Sky website then go to Upgrade your package and you'll be able to add channels there.
Soooooo looking through this beIN app it does look like the ondemand is going to be a tiny bit clunky especially when compared with PLP but should still work well enough...
Also it looks as though we may also get La Liga and the World Cup qualifiers which is fantastic if true.

I rang them, well at least Mrs Foal did , and it's hooked up
There is no longer an upgrade channel and I've already forgotten what I was told about using the remote control.
None of that matters at 6:30 though!
My experience was terrible but twitter suggests im in the minority... so looking for some tips/advice... i was initially streaming on a samsung s6 using the free wifi at a campground im at in napier. Wifi signal seemed good, netflix/youtube and other things had worked well. There was constant "smearing" of the image every few seconds but that was manageable. Then after 10 mins it would start freezing every minute or so for anywhere between 1 and about 20 seconds. I thought it was the wifi so i turned off wifi and started watching purely using mobile data. Good strong reception. But it behaved in the exact same way - "smearing" if image and then intermittent freezing. So then i switched to a tablet, a samsung tab3, using same wifi connection. Exact same behaviour. I then switched between devices for the rest of the game wenever i woild get frustrated with the freezes getting too long. So with that, i appeared to have ruled out the device, wifi, and mobile networks as being any single point of failure, leaving only the app itself. Im puzzled because no one else had this, suggesting its not the app. What could it be? What am i doing wrong? Any help much appreciated ;)
Anyone know how long it took for the match to be available to view after the game ended?
You're able to scrub back two hours on the app so you should be able to watch from the start, not as simple as the view from start for PLP but it's something. Unsure about on the website.
App worked well for me. Up in Auckland staying at my brother's place and he Chromecasted it to his TV from his laptop. Only issue was when his laptop went to sleep at 73 minutes and we had to start from the beginning again and find our place. Game was available on demand when I got off the plane and checked at 10am.
looks like the "goal rush" game is also on "xtra" on the app and website which hopefully means you can watch with no goal rush
Interesting piece that touches on television sporting rights;
I find the app awesome. I have the channels on sky but i watched the Man City game and the review show hungover in bed sunday morning. 100% lag and buffering free.
Showing some Turkish Super Lig stuff now, not quite the Serie A I yearn for but oh well. The Turk Big 3 play some decent stuff.
Just discovering that they don't have all the games on demand, apparently it's limited to 29 games per season per team. Not even a week into being back as a paying customer I'm having to find games on demand via alternative means. Does this mean they've not only outbid the PLP guys but they've bid for less content?

No if you recall plp didn't have all games on demand either, however all games were available for 24 hours after the game I believe?
I thought I saw that all games in the first three rounds were going to be available on demand though

Ah right, but they had them for 24 hours, so while not a week you could wake up at a reasonable hour to watch your team. I guess my timing was wrong but yesterday 8am they didn't have Arsenal v Stoke up, it's their now which is even more annoying!
Anyone used the customer support? Pl had useful chat support
Any reviews from the guys with Bein Connect? Looking to drop 20 for the month and see how it goes. Hopefully theres a kodi add-on to login to Bein Connect then maybe I could try to backend record it on kodi so then I can actually watch some football at a decent time.

Just done my subscription, this app rocks. Has catchups and lots of football for a month. Best 20 bucks I'll ever spend
Heres this from Sky:
"Subscribers are migrating to an on-demand world, but if we shut down Sky traditional today and went on-demand we'd go bankrupt," he says.
"We have been moving that way with HBO programming [on the Neon service] and the development of Fan Pass.
"I don't know what more we can be doing. A large percentage of our subscribers are very happy - so they are not going anywhere.

Can't figure out how they could do better than fanpass...should try looking at PLP and Netflix
"I don't know what more we can be doing"
Hahahahahahaha
"Nuclear Family" here. My kids only use a TV to play xbox. Mostly they use streaming content/youtube/etc on their phones or tablets. Sometimes we watch streaming on the TV as a group. Last time we used our TV to watch "broadcast TV" was after the Kaikoura earthquake when we put National Radio (via Freeview) on it...
This isnt technically the Premier League but i see the only time I can see Spurs v Dortmund is on replay at 5:10pm on Thursday, the game kicks off at 6:45am...
Am I missing something?
Looks like it's live on Sky Sport 3. Some games on Sky Sport channels and some on Bein so pays to check both in the guide.
Are the games available to watch straight away after the live match? United at 3am this morning but I'm hoping to watch around 5am?

How did that go for you? I had issues a few weeks ago with similar challenges.
I read someone on their Facebook page a couple of weeks ago complaining that a game they wanted to watch in similar circumstances wasn't available until 6 hours later. So didn't take the risk and just got up at 3am and watched it instead.
Pretty crap that you can't just do it like PLP and click watch from beginning when the game's still live :(
Got some pissed off messages from my brother this morning that the United game wasn't there on demand by 7. Seems hit and miss when it actually goes up but you can rewind the live game back up to 2 hours. So in future if planning to start a 3am game at 5 that would be the best bet. You'll just have to make sure to mute and cover your screen so you can only see the slider at the bottom to put it back to the beginning.
Not as convenient as the button on PLP to go back to the beginning but can be done.

The lengths we go to to watch our team without ruining the score...I really do wonder if those in the UK will ever be able to comprehend it haha
Interesting, I considered that idea and tried it with a match that was showing late last night and it didn't work, just stayed at the point the game was up to, maybe I was doing it wrong lol.
The wankers at Sky have United's CL match again (SS3) which means it won't be on bein connect.
This means that a) I have to watch it through SkyGo which will either not work or run at 240p and b) no ondemand viewing (in case of a big win and required rewatch)
Sky is now having a negative impact on my football watching experience. Honestly it's like stepping back 10 years.
I never have issues with SkyGo, however if you want to watch a full replay you can usually find good highlights packages and full match replays for big games at www.reddit.com/r/footballhighlights
