8 weeks after allegedly starting the search.............. HN will be pleased. Personally I didn't want him and I'll be generous and give him 6 weeks from the day the season kicks off.

QPR have named former Ipswich boss Jim Magilton as their new manager. <!-- begin ad tag SNET_england/story;kvcc=3888;kvleague=eng2;kvclub=scoqueens_park;kvgrp=1234059;tile=2;sz=300x250; --> < = =text/> document.write('< ="" ="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/SNET_england/story;kvcc=3888;kvleague=eng2;kvclub=scoqueens_park;kvgrp=1234059;tile=2;sz=300x250;ord=' + ord + '?" ="text/"></>'); < = =text/ ="http://ad.doubleclick.net/adj/SNET_england/story;kvcc=3888;kvleague=eng2;kvclub=scoqueens_park;kvgrp=1234059;tile=2;sz=300x250;ord=4056223888510290.5?"> <!-- End ad tag -->

The 40-year-old, who was sacked by the Tractor Boys in April after failing to guide them into the Championship play-offs, has signed a two-year deal at Loftus Road.

Magilton will now be expected to ensure Rangers are challenging for promotion back to the Premier League after a disappointing 11th-placed finish last term.

''There is a very strong group here and with one or two additions we can expect to be in a position to drastically improve upon last season,'' he said.

Magilton becomes the fifth permanent manager at the west London club since chairman and co-owner Flavio Briatore arrived on the scene in October 2007.

John Gregory, Luigi De Canio, Iain Dowie and Paulo Sousa have all come and gone, along with caretakers Mick Harford and Gareth Ainsworth - who has been at the helm twice.

With the wealth of Briatore and fellow investors Bernie Ecclestone and Lakshmi Mittal at the club's disposal, Magilton will be expected to mount a swift challenge.

The former Northern Ireland, Ipswich and Southampton midfielder was given funds at Portman Road, but despite falling short last season he has impressed Briatore.

''We had an incredibly high number of applicants, but Jim was the stand-out candidate for the role,'' said Briatore. ''We (the board) sat down with him on four separate occasions over the last month to discuss our goals and ambitions and he has really impressed with his knowledge, understanding and passion for football.

''He did a very good job at Ipswich Town, playing some fine, attacking football, and he has great ambition to achieve in this next chapter of his managerial career. We are all really looking forward to working with him.''

Magilton, who will name his assistant manager in the coming weeks, added: ''I'm really looking forward to the challenge of managing this great football club.

''The board are highly ambitious, but they are very realistic at the same time. I have huge ambitions to achieve as a manager though, and our aim is to keep progressing, year after year.''

I do love Jim, just think he needs to cut his teeth somewhere with a little less pessure than clubs with aspirational new owners.

His selection policies can be a little random, but I hope he does well, just not as well as Keane.

I note HN that he actually won more games than he lost at Ipswich. Our only concern is his ability in the transfer market and would he have the balls to stand up to our petulant chairman. One reason why Keane was not signed by us, he would've nutted Flavio within the first day.

Yes, but apart from our relegation season it would be 15 years since we had a season where we didn't win more than we lost...  he's added some good players at Portman but probably hasn't given a lot of youngsters (like the FA Youth Cup winning side) a genuine chance which is frustrating and he does like to try players out of position.

Biggest challenge was chopping and changing ths ide so no one knew if they would play each week, then awful home form in the last half of the season killed him - something like two points in 10 games apart from a derby win ?

One has a deal until 2011 and the other just signed to 2012.

Walters is on the radar of Prem clubs but lengthened his deal with us just this season.

Norris came from Plymouth and starts most games, as said has a deal for two more years.  He's the player that was sanctioned for his show of 'support' for a friend that killed two kids while driving home from Norris's wedding.

And finally, wonderful news. Referee Rob Styles, the man who sent off two QPR players and disallowed two perfectly good goals in a game at Wycombe, sent off Chris Plummer and awarded a dodgy penalty in the FA Cup at Charlton, disallowed a last minute equaliser against Sheff Wed, sent off Rob Steiner for diving at Fulham and was banned from officiating at Loftus Road by former manager Gerry Francis, has retired early. I know, I can hardly contain myself either. <!-- Article End -->

[QPRITALIA EXCLUSIVE] Alessandro Pellicori signed for QPR!
Alessandro Pellicori, 28 years old forward, is the new player for Queens Park Rangers, he comes from Avellino, Italian Serie B team relegated to Lega Pro last year and officially went bankrupt a few days ago.
Pellicori, 10 years as soccer player, leaves Irpinia and Italia to challenge London, after he passed his career between Serie C1, Serie B and a year in Serie A (with Lecce, in 2001).
The agreement's details aren't known yet, but the news is certain: welcome Alessandro!

Routledge routs Grecians

Wayne Routledge's second-half hat-trick helped send QPR into the second round of the Carling Cup with a 5-0 thrashing of Exeter.

The former Tottenham winger struck three times in 13 second-half minutes to send the Londoners through, while City had defender Scott Golbourne sent off for a deliberate handball.

After a goalless first half, Rangers went in front after 53 minutes. Exeter striker Marcus Stewart was dispossessed on halfway by Mikele Leigertwood and he lofted the ball over the top of the Grecians' backline. Routledge nipped in and lifted the ball over Paul Jones and into an unguarded net.

Exeter's hopes of reaching round two for the first time since 1993 were dashed when Routledge grabbed his second goal moments later. Patrick Agyemang did the spade work before slipping the ball into the path of the winger, who drilled home his second goal.

Routledge completed his hat-trick from the penalty spot. Kasper Gorkss' header appeared to hit the post and cross the line before being cleared by Scott Golbourne. The linesman flagged for a penalty, Golbourne was sent off and Routledge sent Jones the wrong way with the spot kick.

Substitute Allessandro Pellicori's simple tap in and Hogan Ephram's close range rocket sealed an emphatic win for the Londoners.

Nothing too inspiring from our first two league matches. In spite of the Exeter drubbing I still think we will struggle to score goals again this season. Disappointed that we sold Blackstock - what was the reason?
LGM are you still signed up to QPR World (or whatever it's called now)? I found it pretty disappointing last season and didn't re-subscribe. May subscribe to Dave Thomas's "A Kick Up The Rs" instead. Now that's a quality fanzine.

Buy me a 3XL qpr home jersey!!

Well we only drew last night due to a 90th minute own goal. bit unluicky i would say. as for Blackpool, I have seen the highlights and we were pretty unlucky (Sky news ones, not club doctored ones)

Blackstock went because of personal issues with Flabio - The F1 surpemo who knows nothing about football but thinks he does. Camp may have gone for similar reasons.

Dexter went with camp to forest. Flabio thinks he's a better judge of goal scoring than Dexter. Obviously from his non existant playing days, whilst Dex was our top scorer  with 8 goals more than his nearest rival.

I see we have Jay Simpson and Ben Watson on loan. Although neither is that 20+ goalscorer that we desperately need,I thought Simpson looked quite useful for the Baggies last season and at least both have a bit of quality about them.

You might just get simpson permanently if you like him... he's definitely on the way out at arsenal me thinks. Hasn't really been given any chances and doesn't seem to have a look-in on the first team... sunu and watt seem to have jumped ahead of him despite being younger...

I see Paladini is back to his old games again. You dont get the player positions you desperately need but you get those you don't. If Nix fans think we have way too many midfielders, they should check out our squad.

But back to Paladini, What you do is wait for the deadline to pass then you tell the media you made bids for two strikers of decent quality at the last minute but that your pathetic amount offered was turned down.

Hooper from Sc**thorpe & Beckord from Leeds. That way, brainwashed fans might think you made the effort and lost out, whereas, real fans know it to be a crock of sh*t and that said bids if they were made was just insulting. Hooper is worth at least 2 mill on current form and the market and beckford is worth about 3 Mill. So you dont go offering 1 Mill for each at the last minute and expect to get them.

Nice try Paladini but we are not fooled, you might be, but we arn't.

Was a great goal, awesome to watch, but what's the background?

The season we came 2nd to "That Red lot" in 1975/76, it won "Goal of the seaon" on the BBC and was the first goal in a 2-0. Some say we lost that title with a 3-2 loss at Norwich with a few games to go, but I personally hold those gutless pricks known as Wolves to blame. After all we went 12 games with 1 loss in the run in. Wloves however were fighting for survival and were leading Liverpool 1-0 with 15 minutes to go, they dropped their balls and Liverpool scored 3 in those last 15 to claim the title by 1 point. Wolves duely got relegated as a result of the loss, along with Leicester City and Sheffield United.

We're ok, Flavio may have to undergo a "fit and proper" test which he should fail, however he's also on another board that overseas the club, so even when he's gone, he isnt. Ideally, the Mittal family would buy him out and put their own boy in charge whom actually seems a genuine QPR fan as well as a good businessman.

On various QPR MB's I've been quite vocal in my criticism of Flabio, yet there is something about this F1 thing that doesn't quite read right to me. Possibly because Max Mosely is desperate to get back in control after his own sex scandel. I think there is a lot of politicing going on. Flabio (as he is known, not Flavio) might actually be a scape goat.

There's been various comments/questions about that on QPR MB's, Not much stuff at all. The old Chelski Skinhead Bovver types are a disappearing group. Prawn Sandwich throwers at the Bridge these days. There are a few QPR idiots whom join in that sort of crap, thankfully a small minority - that needs to be dealt to by the appropriate authorities.
