There were some massive red flags when Ole was given the job. Poch has at least had some EPL experience . Ole's appointment was proven to be a disaster.
Calling it a disaster is a hilariously bad take.
Citing Pochettino's last 3 months at Spurs as being representative of his managerial ability overall is a far worse take to be fair.
I don't know why you choose to be deliberately disingenuous at times.
I don't think three months is representative of Pochettino's entire career. I said that period (which was longer than 3 months - I lived with a Tottenham fan at the time I remember about him complaining about it) highlighted flaws and problems at Spurs Pochettino ultimately failed to deal with.
Given United has very similar flaws and problems, I think it's perfectly reasonable to question how he will deal with these problems differently at United.

Why would you hire a manager that was clearly under qualified.
Well I thought we kicked off at nine and tuned in as Sancho spanked his goal.
How was the rest of the game?
Well, we played a lot better than we did in the first match against Villareal. De Gea was by far the busiest keeper. Luckily, Villareal don't have great goal scorers! Great to see DvdB start, and Sancho played well - his best match for United?

De Gea and Ronaldo both keen on a bit of silverware and the Champions League seems like the best shot, what with the might of Ranieri’s Watford not in. But seriously De Gea was amazing. And if Sancho and Fernandes can step out of Ronnie’s shadow, not forgetting how experienced at these ties Rashford and Cavani are, a bullocking cup run shouldn’t be ruled out.
I just wanted to come here and say that De Gea is absolutely stupid for doing what he did. He rolled the dice hoping to get a foul and came out wrong. What a silly risk to take.
My memory recalls him doing something similar in the past, but the attacker missed the goal.
I think the decision on the field to give the goal is correct. You can't have keepers feign injury when they're threatened and just stop the game. If De Gea was actually injured to the point where he could no longer stand up I would argue that Arsenal should've given a goal back from a sportsmanship perspective... but of course he wasn't injured. Stupid stupid stupid.
I was just watching The United Way again , and some things popped into my head....most of which are not directly related to the film.
Roy Keane has been near-on erased from Club history, because of his bust up with Fergie. This is so sad.
For Keane, R., also see Ince, P. Incey, at his best, is possibly the best midfielder I've ever seen. A force of nature. Again, his contributions have been downplayed.
Why isnt the 2008 team venerated like the 99 side? The 2008 team is the superior team....you listen to the 99 team on the United podcast, they say they'd lose to the '08 team. They would have won the Treble as well, had Fergie not shat the bed vs Pompey.
Speaking of not enough kudos; Oh Teddy, Teddy. His efforts actually won the 99 final. Scored the first, and won the header for Ole to prod home a relatively easy chance. Not many people talk about Teddy though.
The FA Cup win vs Liverpool in the fifth round was the most dramatic game of 1998/99, and that's saying something!
That season Eric came back (was that 94/95 or 95/96?), how good was he? I remember him being on a one man crusade. And Schmeichel stopping Asprilla and Wor Les time and time again.
Hadn't seen this until just now, massive respect 20legend. I actually felt bad and when i reread my post I thought I was a bit emotive and over the top, so I deleted it. So I'd like to apologise to you too good sir.
@rustydunks, this comment; "The FA Cup win vs Liverpool in the fifth round was the most dramatic game of 1998/99, and that's saying something!" That is certainly saying something alright! I don't know what happened in that game, but my main memory of your treble that season was our ridiculous loss to you in the FA Cup semi. We had the game won, Bergkamp taking a 90th minute penalty with the score at 1-1, but he bloody missed it. Apparently he was so affected by this he never took another penalty again. ManU were down to 10 men and completely up against it, until that ridiculous length of the field effort from Giggs in extra time. It was insane, I'm still spewing to this day. I think from memory we coughed up a huge lead in the league that season as well. In reality ManU were very close to winning no trophies, and then ended up winning all 3! So symbolic of Fergie really. When his teams were up against it, they still had the best winning mentality going around, they never quit, they always thought they could win from anywhere, anytime, and often did.
And United score. This is a real premier league game. Fans right in, feelings everywhere. The underdog bossing, cards being shown. Newcastle were looking good for a result. United hit some meaningless long balls and worse shots since I’ve been watching, but the goal is guna lift them.
Our players are naive and scared. We can't do three decent things in a row. Basic skills gone astray, miss-kicks that should happen once in a player's career career happening every couple of minutes.
I have previously supported Maguire but this season he has gone completely off a cliff. Every camera shot of him is him diving into a tackle and getting beat.
Fred cannot control a football. He cannot play a forward pass. He cannot make a tackle. He cannot break up play effectively. His good performances look alright as he's energetic and likable, but really they've just covered up a pretty lackluster footballer.
As United are playing poos at the moment, we can still have fun with wild speculation based on absolutely nothing....
Top 3 United players who are definitely maybe anti-vax; Ronaldo - when you're that much of a prick in real life, you don't need any more pricks Matic - see Djokovic, N. Martial - sulker supreme would love to grumble about the nanobots.
Top 3 United players that are definitely vaxxed; Mata - such a lovely man Maguire - jabbed in his forehead De Gea - heavy metal lover ain't afraid of no jab!
Just awful. Yet another reason to be embarrassed by my club. I hope she gets support, and he is shown a one-way ticket out of OT.
As much as I find this shocking, the police have yet to charge him with anything. I have no idea if he is guilty or not and he is Innocent until proven otherwise. If proven then 20 years jail would be OK for me.
Well, he's been further arrested.....don't really know what that means, apart from he surely must be fuuuuuuucked now. Unless, in the UK justice system, money talks.
As an aside, how do we feel about Greenwood as a player? I'm not high on him, he seems quite selfish (which can be a good thing), and FFS why can't he smile when he scores? What is it with the likes of him, Martial and others who act as if they just stood in shark when they score? I don't think it's a "just doing my job" vibe. They're trying to give off an I'm so cool I don't give a fudge vibe.
Released on bail today. Given Mendy won’t face trial until July it could be some time before Greenwood is able to have his day and court. If he is innocent it’s a shame given how much time it takes away from a short career.
If both are found guilty I believe expectation is book is thrown at them.
Well a farcical rule, and farcical interpretation of the rule had me turning the game off early. Good for Boro who'll probably talk about it for the next 50 years.
So apparently, if a player accidentally handballs and sets up another player to score, it's OK and VAR can't take a look, goal given. But if the player who scored handballed it, whether intentional or not, it would've been called back.
But I detest the assumption that it was "accidental". If he was defending, the VAR has a look and, given his arm is out stretched on front of him, would probably rule a handball and penalty.
With VAR and recent rule changes football has descended to the point where we'll spend 10 minutes checking to see if someone's bellend was 2cm beyond someone else's arm armpit hair to decide if they're offside. Yet our rules stop us looking at a handball which leads to a goal and saying "huh, that's probably not right." Ugh.
Put Bruno back on pens, never should've been taken off them. And lordy the finishing has been poor for years. Weak minded players who don't have any bottle.
Every single player in the squad is mentally weak, right from De Gea who gets scared when a player is within 5 metres of him, all the way to Ronaldo who looks shaken every time the ball doesn't fall his way.
Even Sancho, who played relatively well, almost butchered his tap-in. Watch closely and you'll note that Sancho's touch was heading towards the keeper before the defender pushed the ball into the net
These players simply cannot handle the pressure of expectation. Instead of leaning on their quality to settle themselves they rattle.
I recall an interview with David Beckham where he said crossing balls to Schmeichel in training made him more nervous than doing it at Old Trafford. Because Schmeichel expected only the highest standard, all the time.
I reckon top class players make one silly mistake (misplaced pass, miscontrolled ball) a game. Our lads genuinely make one every 5 seconds - and I'm not even being hyperbolic.
I thought it was a stretch to call that back for a review, way too far out to think the Manu player would get to the ball and take a shot.
I thought the exact opposite - Elanga was getting there miles before Webster, he was moving far quicker, was closer and was headed directly towards goal - ref should've pulled a red.
That said, was very surprised it was overturned given our track record.
On re-watch, I think it's a definitely a red. In the picture below Elanga has beeen well and truly impeded at this point. If he's not impeded his next touch is easily before the semi-circle, and the defender is miles away (not even in shot below)
Maybe, but look where the ball is, Elanga has hit the ball passed the defender, I doubt he reaches it before the keeper. it's a 50/50 call for mine, and not worthy of a VAR overturn of the yellow.

Watching in real time, if he's not impeded, Elanga definitely gets another touch in before the ball enters the box. Keeper and defender don't stand a chance.
