Price is a lot lower than two years ago. Wonder if they were keen then or were aware of the price. Also he said that the deal won't be done by the end of the month but more likely October.

Studs up disgraceful challenge on poor old Koscienly. Could of easily broken his leg or ankle.
You mean in an attempt to block K's cross, K tripped on Cole's boot. Proceeded to theatrically dive, simulating a foul and ultimately tricking the ref into pulling a red. I saw nothing.

Get over yourself. It was a horrible challenge from a player not immune to such displays of thuggary on a football pitch.

oh what a ridiculous summary. it was mistimed but thuggery, you are kidding? He's never been sent off in his professional career...he probably just about had to go but you can see what he's trying to do (block the ball down the line) and he just gets it wrong

Should of been sent and banned for a month for this disgrace of a challenge.
Bet you're well hard though aye JD.
Out of character, not that kind of player etc, etc. Yes, we know - but that doesn't lessen the recklessness and potential danger of Cole's tackle on Laurent Koscielny that brought a deserved red card on the stroke of half-time. Liverpool's main summer signing allowed the frustration of a quiet home debut to over-ride his senses when launching himself at the French defender in a harmless corner of the pitch, and Koscielny was not even on the pitch when the impact came. Referee Martin Atkinson called this, and Jack Wilshere's earlier yellow card for a foul on Mascherano, correctly. While Wilshere avoided following through with his right leg, Cole did not, and it was far from Anfield's finest moment that a player being carried away with a potentially serious injury was booed off, and booed back on for the crime of keeping his leg and ligaments intact.
Joe Cole can have no complaint ...
Sums it up. Except that he has done it before as shown in that youtube clip i posted above.
Cole's tackle was a joke. But even worse was the booing of Koscielny for being the victim.
geez judging by what some were saying i was expecting some horrific challenge but to be honest that wasnt that bad.
How is lunging in studs up into a players shin as he is exiting the field of play about 100 yards from the goal not a bad tackle?
Explain please i'd love to know.
Now lets see...

he's played over 300 top flight games. the nature of the premier league mean that almost everyone who plays that many matches will have some bad tackles in there
Bet you're well hard though aye JD.
Oh and once, again, for the 1000th time, do grow up buffy...
the point is that his studs don't hit his shin at all..he goes to block the ball and follows through with his right, it's mistimed but nothing more than that. as I have said he probably had to go but it's not nasty or thuggish. There were far worse tackles in the match from both sides, his was just poorly executed.
pretty much exaclty what i was guna say
Do you think the booing of Koscielny the victim was ok too? Just because he survived a terrible challenge with all limbs in tact.
The booing was theatrical, much like Koscielny's performance.
"into a players shin"
You could get a fat scouser between the gap of boot & shin.
Buffy, Thanks for debunking your own statement with pic #2
Just because the boot didn't connect with the shin doesn't mean there wasn't intent or it wasn't dangerous. He wrapped his leg round Koscielny like it was a tortilla.

Theatrical? Like Torres and Gerrard's diving?

Clearly the intent was to block the ball down the line, clearly it was also a bit reckless which is why everyone basically agrees that it was a red.
What we don't agree with is your attempt to demonise Joe Cole - a trait extremely common amongst Arsenal fans to remove all physical elements from football, which concindentally would favour the type of players they have, and the type of football they play.
Anyway, this is all a side show from the real story. How awful was Chamack? Really awful, or really, truly awful?
So... Mascherano out and 15m and Aleksandr Hleb in.
Anyone know anything about this Hleb guy?? Never heard of him...
ha made it "big" with some lower league club in england then got lured to spain by barca's riches. Made a cameo appearance and went off the radar after that...............coming to a club near you soon!
He spent last season on loan at VFK Stuttgart made 25 appearances for them.
*sigh* Different season, same sh*t... Pretty gutted about that, tbh. Thought we had it won.. A Reina mistake?! What's happening to the world!
joe cole, what a debut
Curse of the opening day hits again...
Still, a point against the Arse is acceptable. Cole out for what 3 games?

Sorry hard man.
chamakh caused the goal, so i figure that a pass mark...
but yes i expected more from him, i hope he gets better with time at this level...
on the joe cole thing, i am in the "deserved red but he didnt mean to hurt him deliberately" camp. Lucky the shin pad did it's job from what wenger is saying. Kolscieny i thought was actually decent on debut i thought... let's not forget liverpool's goal was from a mistake in possession from wilshere and then the keeper getting beat at his near post...
The goal was not Almunia's fault. The goal was Vermaelen's fault for standing about 10 miles off N'gog.
This is by far the worse incident...
true, poor bugger...
Felt pretty sorry for Riena, those types of deflections are sometimes difficult to handle, no pun intended. Thought it came of the Arse dudes arm, but will wait to see a replay tonight, not that it matters now though...
But, strangely, having 10 men seemed to make us play a lot better. We we far better in the 2nd half than in the 1st... Maybe the extra pressure put a bit more drive in the boys?
Coles red was pretty BS. Def a yellow, but a pretty harsh call really. I know that the Arse squad are a huge bunch of pussies with achy-breaky legs though, so I suppose I can understand that they want anyone who comes within a whisker of their matchsticks to be automatically sent off.
Maybe they were booing him because he had to get a stretcher out when he was obviously fine? Or, if it hurt him, he's in for a pretty rough season. Meh, I don't think it was a red. But it was such a stupid place to slide in and I used to always think Joe Cole was a dirty f**ker. And the referee didn't have a great view of it. So I'm not surprised. 4 of our last 5 red cards have been with Atkinson in charge...
Meh, idk. Not surprised, but I don't really think it was red.
Quite happy with the performance today. that is all. ;)
Yeah I think that was just mistimed, no real intent. Having said that, it was a red and I would expect that to be a red for every team with any ref tbh.
Was surpised that Wilshere got away with his two-footed lunge in the first half tbh. That was well dodgy
The Arsenal physio (who is well experienced in the broken leg department) did say that his first instinct on getting to Koscielny was that he did have a break, so I'd imagine that a bit of objectivity wouldn't go astray here, and we could lay off the claims of theatricality. Especially given that by the time the camera had cut to the ref the red was already out - hardly any time for anything that any player could do to influence the ref.
