Missed this one unfortunately as was driving from Queenstown to Dunedin for the Pink concert at the time it kicked off. Made the futile attempt of avoiding the result to try and watch today but made the fatal error of wearing an Arsenal hoodie. I wasn't out of the car in Dunedin 2 minutes before someone called out "good win this morning mate 6-0."

Agree, although I'd suggest that Ramsdale's sparkle is fading, he's been shakey ever since Raya came in. I understand that losing your starting spot can be frustrating and maybe you try to hard when you get a chance but he's not helping his cause.
I don't miss that feeling. You're torn between "fudgeing you" and "fudgeing hell, what a result"!
Pretty much. Knew it would happen. As soon as I put it on I said to my wife "it will only take 5 minutes for someone to say haha 1-0 or something" but still felt right to wear it at the time we were playing. Second time it's happened with that hoodie. For the 3-1 win over Spurs last season we were visiting the mother in law for the weekend and went out to lunch on the Sunday when the game was that morning. Was going to watch when we got back home that night and some guy on the other side of the restaurant gets up, walks over, taps me on the shoulder and goes "good win this morning mate 3-1." My face was apparently quite funny like you could literally see my soul leave my body haha.
Ramsdale is doing his absolute best to ensure he doesn't need to play for the rest of the season. Such a poor goal to concede. He had another earlier in the half where he let the attacker get far too close and it made me nervous. He doesn't learn.
Just switched on to see Kai score!!!! Get in!!!!
Havertz!!!
Get the fudge in!!!!

Brentford were playing the clock down from about the 78th minute and it was so frustrating to watch. For some reason they found their motivation in the 86th or so.
Next premier league game isn't til April. Vs City. Hopefully they pick up a suspension or two vs liverpool.

Or some medium term non-career ending injuries 🤷🏻♂️
Match last night was incredible. Somehow the atmosphere was an increase on last season. Was sat above the away fans and found myself chanting “you only sing when you’re injured” given how little they had going on. Ramsdale moment wasn’t ideal but crowd was right behind him still. Best part of the winner was Brentford had only just finished signing “you’re a shark David raya” when we scored. Hilarious, crowd was all of them.
Piece de resistance was the new chat to shakiras 2010 World Cup theme tune “60 million down the drain, Kai Havertz scores again”.

Just watched the Odegaard, Trossard, and Gabriel penalty shouts. I think Paul Tierney needs to explain the Trossard and Gabriel ones. Both players were held/grabbed/pulled by Brentford players which had the commentators fairly convinced they’d be penalties. That they didn’t even refer those for an old field review shows how broken the model is. Glad it didn’t impact the game, but they have got to do better than they have.
Also of note, ball was only in play for 50% of the game. Expecting the same against Porto. Need an early goal to force them into actually playing football. Waiting until the 80th for an equaliser will be punishing.

We end the weekend top.
Given odds are against us to beat city at the Etihad, this win v brentford is even more vital.
That said, the balls in our court now and we have to finish strong. You’d hope the team learned lessons from the abysmal season end last year.

God damn thjat was stressful!
I love Ramsdale - his attitude and confidence is great, but he is so prone to making poor decisions that inevitably cost us a goal. Thank goodness this team never gives up and can usually find a way to score more than once.
Top of the league thanks to Man C and Liverpool drawing this morning.

Thats awesome

So many "flops/failures" signed this season, and yet we are top of the league.
From the last couple of seasons the “over priced” purchases have come good; Ramsdale, White, Havertz all fit in that bucket. Also interesting to see Havertz finding form while Mount has struggled at United. Feels like we’re one of the best run clubs for connecting transfer strategy with managers playing style.

I rated Havertz from the start, he's coming good in a big way.
Big game player, great all round game, offers something in any position, I would always find a spot in there for him. I like how he can rotate to a false 9/forward type role when Jorginho plays, or drop into the "xhaka" role when Jorginho doesn't play.

Alright Arsenal, I've taken the plunge.
One week free trial on Bein to watch this morning's game, if we win I carry on with the subscription, if we lose I cancel 2-3 hours from now.

big game for us this morning, must win!
The relief! Desperately needed to score before half time.
1-0 Trossard!
great start
great start
this half i tense and a real battle. COYG!!
How are we looking?
Extra time isn't what we need but next league game isn't til April so if there's a time for it it's now.

been scrappy and slightly disappointed in our inability to control the ball towards the end. bring on ET
Time to start thinking about penalty takers? Isn't really anyone standing out on the bench in that regard maybe other than Vieira. Jorghino would have been one.
Saka has been disappointing today. Not sure he should be kept on.
reads to me as though Porto have been really good defensively. neither team really getting a lot of shots on target.
Who are taking them?
Would assume Saka, Odegaard, Jesus. Maybe Havertz. Nketiah as a striker you’d think would put a hand up. Rice or Zinchenko maybe?
gah, I hate death strikes!
Awesome experience on Bein just now. Broadcast stopped three penalties into the shootout, cant seem to get back onto it via either the app or the website.
LOL
LOL
Great pens so far.
fudge yes!!!!
Yay we won, not that I got to see it!
Fudgeing yes. Don't get to experience winning a shootout often as an England fan.
Hopefully we don't have to play Barcelona or Bayern/Kane again but feels great to back in the big time.

Bugger. Happened to me with 10 mins left in extra time but going back to the home page and choosing the stream called "review show" got back to it. Probably like what Sky used to do in that the dedicated stream ended at a scheduled time instead of allowing for extra time!
nice work from Raya, right now we can focus on Chelsea (TBD) or City (1st April)
Get the fudge in.
Final 8 is stacked, no easy draw there. Shark about to get real.
European knockout games are always tight and tense. Obviously we would have preferred to have had a better performance today but ultimately the result was what mattered. The longer this went on, the more the fact that we haven't qualified for the QFs since 2010 would hang over us. We lost the last 16 tie the last 7 times we were in it. Most of our current players hadn't played in the CL before this season and Arteta hadn't won a European knockout tie as manager. This was a monumental result for us. We still may not win anything this season but it's all worth it for these occasions. When it comes to knockout the only thing that actually matters is the result. Just ask Argentina 2022 or Portugal 2016.
Just look at the other names in the quarter finals. Been a long time since we were included in a list with these teams. I suspect there are a few other teams who'd take it.
