I question the selection process of players far too many under par, there are better quality players overlooked, For the amount of money thrown at them they need to be performing at a National League standard, it’s an embarrassment, what can we do... Is this selection process just a call up and asking whos available from previous year or is there a robus scouting process including coach to find the best players within the south island.
who are the better quality players overlooked, in your opinion?? Not that I’m disagreeing with you just interred to know who people think should be there.
You have a side in Cashmere Technical who romped the league, and easily won a SI final. I can't see how you wouldn't have the majority of players from that type of team. Like the old Auckland rugby team of the 90s making up most of the All Blacks.
Add in the fact to get any Southern or Tasman players in, you have to commute back and forth in not exactly a wealthy league, or transfer your life to a different area of the country. Jobs are certainly plentiful after COVID? Maybe if Canterbury were a region of fruit harvesting we could attract lots of people?
I am happy to put my hand up and say I've worked 1st hand with Lee at Selwyn, and saw what he did to turn the club from where it was. I know what sort of person he is and how hard he works, but I don't know the in's and out's of Canterbury United, so I cant comment on his role there.
Is he a bad coach? Of course he isn't. I have watched the 3 games this season and they have got better. No niceties though, it's still 0 from 3. I want them to win as much as the next fan. However, to say pick better players is one thing, but back it up. Who are the ones who can commit to training 3-4 times a week, and then play? And are they better than anyone in the squad?
Happy to see the names fly in
