Nice afternoon down at Kiwitea Street, wish the NWL played more games there than out in the wops of Mclennan. Thought Canterbury could have got a few more - although their midfielder took out the Auckland keeper and escaped any sanction.
Agree about the venue. Shame there wasn't a bigger crowd to enjoy it. Canterbury could and should have added a few more. Clash between the Canterbury defender and Auckland keeper happened when the keeper made a save from a corner right on the line. In my opinion the Canterbury played was focusing on the ball and the collision was accidental. That's also the way the officials seemed to see it.

half way point of the season and all teams with same number of games played
based on what I've seen and heard so far here's a couple of observations
1 - the final is decided already, it will be Canterbury v Northern, Northen will now have the edge with Flea heading off to join Gareth Turnbull at Melbourne Victory
2 - Auckland are the luckiest team, they haven't looked anywhere near how good they should be but managed to grab a point against Capital when they should have lost and managed to get all 3 against Central again, when they should have lost.
3 - Southern are still in there but if you look at last season they seem to do well to start and then fall away - was funny today when their FB said the unbeaten streak was over - that was an unbeaten streak that had lasted for all of 1 game!!!
4 - Capital are very very very disappointing, maybe it was the farce of their coach selection or their weird insistence that all players trial no matter what they have done before (this includes internationals!) but for what they have on paper they have not done it on the field (OK they won 5-0 today but it was WaiBOP). Serious questions need to be asked here.
5 - the only people that think the double header round is a good idea is NZF and given that in a round when Canterbury played Northern they stated game of the round would be Central v Auckland, well really just shows how much they know........
In all the only change in the positions I can see is possibly Southern and Auckland swapping but the rest will stay as they are - even if Central beat WaiBOP their inferior goal difference will keep them on the bottom of the table

I can't make sense of that second result & scorers
I can't make sense of that second result & scorers
looks like AW82 has cut and pasted from Saturdays result and some left behind - basically after it says HT 5-0 ignore the rest
Not sure what was worse today the WaiBOP defence or the referees!
WaiBOP actually scored, shot hit the crossbar bounced down, keeper grabbed the ball and threw it back towards half way for KO, ref waved play on!!! Capital also had another when Jemma Catherwood scored with a header but after a WaiBOP player ran into her own keeper the AR flagged it as a foul!!!
Another incident saw Emma Rolston handle the ball in front of the ref, realising what she had done she threw her hands up and said sorry, ref who couldn't have missed it just said play on.

Yes my fault with cut and paste - have amended original postings.
Southern were unlucky not to gain a share of the points late in the game with a Pride defender handling in the area and the same movement many felt the ball had crossed the line before being cleared.

If Auckland win their 2 games and Lights lose their 2, then wouldn't Auckland play at Canterbury in the Final?

If Auckland win their 2 games and Lights lose their 2, then wouldn't Auckland play at Canterbury in the Final?
Correct, there is a slim chance. Lights got Pride next week so Auckland can hope there but they have WaiBOP the last week, so unless there is a massive upset from a team whose two wins have only come against Central. It's probably still likely Priide and Lights.
Just means next week is a finals preview and also chance for home team advantage for the game.

True but on what I have seen this season there is no way the Lights will not win at least one of those games. I believe the Lights will be favourites to host the Grand Final.

"Scheduling difficulties", just as well neither team made the final then (although you could argue players and administrators have long since made alternative plans for the weekend) :-)
Northern Football announced yesterday that Northern Lights will be run by Forrest Hill & Glenfield Rovers and Auckland will be run by Eastern Suburbs for the upcoming National Women's League
first steps towards it becoming a club based league?
maybe Capital should look at doing the same.............
It's an interesting announcement, especially as the language and intent ties in with the big NZF Delivery & Sustainability project. Think we're going to see more of Federations relinquishing some control and allowing clubs to step into the space they vacate.
ISPS Handa back with NZ Football for 2 more years
also sponsoring the Women's league this time which will be known as the ISPS Handa Women's Premiership (time for thread name change?)
Just one round this year though
