New Zealand Men's U-17s
The 4 goals and GD could be decisive. remember the best 3rds from all the groups go through to 2nd round. Hopefully they wont need it.
Think he meant build up to the tournament rather than build up play.
stats 24 shots Uzbeks only 12 from Kiwis, 7 on target 4 goals. bloody top return on effort if you ask me.

I'll own it.
Czechs traditionally have strong age-group sides, at least at the U21 level. Not sure what thier U17 side's like, but expect they'll be much tougher than the Uzbekis.
Also early days yet but will be interesting to view the total results of Young AWs, under 20's and of course Football Ferns World Cups after August. Will be interesting in light of Oceania v Asia debate.

We are going to get done in Mexico. Unless some massive changes are made anyway.
He is a hell of a nice guy as well, always happy to give people time.

Why you laugh? There was a massive change. THE COACH
Congratulations to young Steve on a World Cup hat-trick. Just watched the highlights on youtube and that 1st goal was a class finish and that ball across for the hat-trick goal was superb, not sure who knocked it over but was a classy delivery!

If they are the future of NZ football, our future is looking bright

AUCKLAND New Zealands U-17 hat trick hero Stephen Carmichael admits he wasnt even sure of his place in the squad a month ago.
The Central United midfielder, who made his debut a week ago en route to Mexico, led the scoring charge with three goals as the Young All Whites defeated Uzbekistan 4-1 in Torreon, Mexico to sit atop the Group D standings ahead of USA who beat the Czech Republic 3-0 in the groups late match.
Its the first hat trick by a kiwi male at a FIFA event Football Ferns striker Rosie White notched two at age-group events in 2008 but the 16 year old wasnt exactly brushing up on his Spanish in May having been part of the squad but not making either the team for Oceania qualifying or a tour to Qatar.
Its an awesome feeling just unbelievable, said Carmichael after the match.
I wasnt sure I was going to make the squad and it was a nervous wait to see if I would be in or not.
Once you get the opportunity youve just got to take it. Its something Ive worked really hard for and tried to make the most of the chances Ive got.
His first chance came just ten minutes into the game when a rebounded ball squirted out to him just inside the Uzbek penalty area.
I was focussing on getting a good first touch and striking the ball well.
His strike left Ganisher Kholmurodov little chance in the Uzbek goal and by the time he netted his third 8 minutes into the second half to make the score 3-1, the Young All Whites were well on their way to victory.
While teams are prevented from performing cultural displays before matches at FIFA events, the Young All Whites were quick to celebrate with a traditional kiwi haka in their dressing room after the win.
Harley Tahau led it. Its something we practised yesterday in the pool so we were keen to use it if we could.
New Zealand coach Aaron McFarland praised Carmichaels impact since joining the squad but emphasised an all-round team performance.
Hes been doing really well on tour. Hes proven himself in the heat and hes one of the lads that are capable of getting hold of the ball and doing something and if we are going to win this game we needed characters like that to step. He made a couple of goals and the other was a good team one.
Hell take the glory today but in the next game it may be someone else.
New Zealands next game is against the Czech Republic on Thursday morning.
