It most definitely isn't. Granted, lower half of the Championship is better than the lower halves of the Eredivisie and Primeira Liga, but the likes of Ajax/Feyenoord/PSV/Utrecht and Ryan Thomas' own club Zwolle could comfortably beat any championship team, as could Benfica/Lisbon/Porto/Braga. Far more talent comes from these leagues than the championship, they actually play with the ball on the ground in the Netherlands and Portugal. But anyway, Most Zwolle fans agree also that Thomas is by far the best player on the team and will move to a bigger club soon. Potentially a good replacement for when Ayoub leaves Utrecht, but similarly Hakim Ziyech will likely move from Ajax soon and I'd love to see Thomas get signed by a club as huge as AA (not just because I come from a long line of Amsterdammers). I think then we really would be looking at a golden generation, particularly if Boyd continues his rise through Europe (although for now Tondela is a good fit)

I think if you compare the highlights of the 2010 squad (Nelsen, Smith, Reid, Elliott, Vicelich, Smeltz, Killen, Fallon) with those of this squad (Reid, Smith, Thomas, Rojas, Wood) we are not in quite as strong a place as then, but we do have better depth now and I think the current crop have the potential to be better than the 2010 side, in the next WC cycle.

Interesting to note that the 2010 WC squad had four NZFC players and two members of Unattached FC. This squad has no #HandyPrem or Unattached players, but does of course feature players from the sixth and seventh tiers of English football.

Brockie at RWB not a terrible shout, given our options. Article cites his game against Australia; his performance at wingback against Honduras is the best I've seen him play for the AWs.

I just got back from Baghdad. One of the troops/security contractors at the front of the US Embassy asked me where I was from.I told him I'm an Aussie married to a Kiwi. Turns out he was Peruvian. Said they're all short blokes and the extra height of the All Whites was going to be to their advantage. He didn't sound particularly optimistic about their (Peru's) qualifying. 

Good luck to your lads... Hopefully one of us gets to the World Cup.

Saw a few Peruvians walking about central wgtn today, they all seemed quite short, something I am happy with as I am a short ass myself

Quite a few in Auckland I have heard, chanting around the CBD I have heard, shoudl be a great atmosphere at the game!

From what I can gather, they have an Air NZ chartered A320 from Auckland to here on Friday and back to Auckland Saturday evening.

This team is built around size, and I think set pieces are where we can do the most damage. Brockie plays up top because we need someone to play off Wood and can still bring a physical presence. Something our other strikers can't (Smeltz is past it IMO)

Themi is our most experienced player at DM and should play, although it was hard to go past Tuiloma for his athletic ability, long throw and aerial threat.

Lewis is also unlucky not to start ahead of McG who has it over him in experience.

Boxall has to play at CB because of his pace. Smith, is sluggish, but reads the game well so we we can't have another slow defender in the back three in the form of Durante.
