I hope the Phoenix start using the AWs guys more in their marketing, "All Whites star Leo Bertos etc..." has a good ring to it. The All Whites are a strong brand right at this moment, and it might not last long
yep- it's a sell out right so...See the All Whites at the cake tin...Siggie, Lochead, Brown, Bertos v Brockie and Ifill, Greenacre v. Fowler...
if you can sell 30,000 tickets you have to try to get some mileage out of that...though I guess I'm one of those out of towners, who has been down for two games while i've been inthe country...
yeah this certainly helps, but destiny is in our own hands, so we must not rely on stats we certainly need a bit of luck, we got some in the first leg, we need more if it's gonna be a win for us at any cost
Don't know if this has been posted anywhere else but a nice historic parralel with '82
real desperate is there any other way to get tickets or does any1 have some for sale i have the cash for me and 5 mates help me please

You'll be lucky Early bird catches the worm, they say.
hay just went to get tickets and its sold out
Dear Heavenly Father,
I dread that the same thing will happen to The All Whites.
Is it a worry for anyone that Coach Herbet, cant coach the Phoenix to hold a lead in the A league???

Dear Heavenly Father,
Dear Heavenly Father,
It is easier for a Cantabrian to pass through the (good) eye of a newt, than it is for Deaker to be competent.Junior822009-10-18 23:54:57
Soccer? dude its football
Man the stadium will just go off like nothing ever seen before if the AWs score. Coming down from Hamilton and i just cant wait. Guna be epic
Why isn't it November the 14th yet??? C'monnnn.[/QUOTE]
I was in love during June. She then treated me like a piece of waste.
You're gonna be REALLY horny if we don't make it through...
jeez the media are a bit behind .
we really need them to lose Jaycee, that would really hurt them.
IMHO, it has to be an all out blitz in the first 15 minutes. We have to take risks.

ok, check rankings thread and front page news. we are up to 83rd. Discuss in appropriate thread. thank you
Dear Heavenly Father,
Tonight I pray for the stomach wellness of AW supporters. And pay humble gratitude to our rise in the FIFA world rankings.
Amen
Still single tickets available, thought it had sold out but luckily had checked back. My mate in Auckland had not bought his tickets yet, so I made sure I bought one immediately. I am sure I will be able to sell it at face value in Wellington if its surplus.
Pax No was 31,643
I would suggest there wouldn't be too many seats left...

Honduras have qualified for the 1st time since Spain 82
Friends of mine lived in Honduras and then only thing Hondurans knew about NZl was that they were at 82 WC us.

Personally I don't think it'll be a factor, Herbert is not the one out on the field defending our goal. You cannot blame a coach for players lack of concentration at the 85th minute mark. With Nelsen at CB they'll be far more solid than the Nix scrappy defending last night.

and while you are on your knees pray that captain courageous Ryan Nelson does not get injured in the next few weeks. If he's out we are toast!!!!
I'd like to place an order for a repeat dose of today's weather for the 14th !
I dread that the same thing will happen to The All Whites.
totally different team dude. all whites have professionals that play in britain. remember they did score againt jordan. and yes the coach was still herbet.

We also have a 100% record of qualifying for world cups held in countries beginning with'S'

Dear Heavenly Father,
Tonight I pray for the comemntators.
May Jason Pine receive radio immortality after Nov 14.
May Dewhurst call the game succinctly.
And may you compel Deaker to make an effort to learn soccer, so he can hold something close to a competent soccer interview during the build up to the game.
Amen

As long as people are talking about it does it really matter ?
Who....cares.....

Yip. But Murray "I don't know anything about soccer because it's too complicated" Deaker doesn't need the confusion.
McGinchey has to start and play for the full 90 minutes to maxiumise his input to the team.
We cannot expect consistent quality service to our forwards using Brown and Bertos in the attacking midfield in the way that the Phoenix are playing like in recent times. So we need a different player doing different delivery to our forwards. A player that can pass the ball along the ground from a central position and not alway looking to do aerial stuffs like what Siggy or Lochy are doing and not always trying to shoot everytime at the end of a dribble like Bertos is doing. Brown is usually working as a box to box midfielder but does not always link up with the forward players from the centre position and predictably passes to the wide players (Siggy, Lochy and Bertos) and therefore predictively relies on the wide players to cross the balls. Plus Elliot is tied up doing defensive midfield and does not get forward often.
The need for the simple straight centre pass from the midfield to the centre forward position along the ground is an essential component to move the defence line across and open up gaps in the opposition back defence. If the centre defence is tight and closes up then the space is in the wide. If the centre defender is drawn to the wide then space is created in the centre of the defence that the centre midfielder or centre forward can exploit. This is an area that we must improve. And Mcglinchey has the ability to get into such spaces compared to Brown. Then my next question is whether Siggy, Bertos or Lochy can look inside to find Mcglinchey (Brown) because, this part of the game is lacking and therefore losing creativity and different positional attack.
It seems to capitalise on this, may mean to drop a forward from the three prong attack. We can always place a third forward later in the game, but we must start 4-4-2 I think.

Any advantage is good with me. Just need the African imports to break down now. That and no injuries for us.
Great news! I only just spotted this today! GO YOU ALL WHITES!
welly_phoenix2009-10-21 11:50:05
How do you beat Bahrian??
IMHO, it has to be an all out blitz in the first 15 minutes. We have to take risks.
I really think the match will depend on us scoring early, if we dont score in the first 15 Minutes then I think we wont win.
An early goal will do a few things,
1: Keep the crowd in the game, there will be a lot of people who dotn normally go to football who will be at this thing, and we need every voice screaming an yelling for every minute.
2: Give the boys confidence, they need to know they can score goals.
3: deflate Bahrian, playing away and letting thru an early goal will hurt them.
If we can score in the first 15 minutes we will win, if we dont, im afraid it might get ugly.

One shot for glory,
that'd be high octane whiskey to steady the nerves before hand,
then a beer to celebrate afterwards.

Let's hope that if ultimately things go that horribly wrong for us the crowd don't turn on the AWs the way the Aussie crowd did the Socceroos that night. It was pretty ugly.
